Jonkershoek Marathon 41km with 3547m vert

- The Jonkershoek Marathon is a mountaineering challenge of approximately 32 Kilometers with over 3000 Meters of climbing. Starting at Bothmaskop and ending at Stellenbosch Mountain only involves the official route. Which means you still have to hike in and out. Our total day was 41 Kilometers with 3500 Meters of climbing. It is a awesome adventure and anyone who is fit enough in the mountains should go and experience it.
This year is the 60th year of the routes recorded existence.

Lekker! - I'm coming to SA next year May to do this hike and others around Jonkershoek (Victoria Peak and Emerald Dome). I used to hike there a lot a couple of decades ago but never did the marathon loop. For some reason we never hiked to Haelkop and Stellenboschberg. If any of you are up for another round let me know!
Incredible views. That water looked a little dank.
It was actually very fresh. The tannins in the fynbos give it that color. That water is probably cleaner and healthier than the water coming out of our taps.
