Thanks for the pricing clarification Troy. I've pinned your comment to the top for future reference 👍🏻 I think when you get above $5k for a mower $200 either way ain't going to make much difference but still good to be accurate. With regards to the apples to apples cost I'll let you guys sort out the official fuel / battery comparison stuff and post it in the future, it's out of the scope of this humble review 🙂 Cheers mate

Yea, what's operational cost over 3 & 5 years comparison with petrol mower
      Life cycle costs
      Assume electricity cost $25 C/kWh.

      Thanks

Yes however you also need to add the cost of replacing the battery as any Lithium Ion battery degrades over time. With daily commercial use I would suspect the battery would be shot after 3 or 4 years at requiring you spend another $2.6k which is far higher than the running costs of any petrol mower

      Hey Ki,
Great review! It’s great to see another Aussie TH-camr on the platform.
Can I ask who I would contact about getting a demo of this unit? Or if Troy can see this, same question. I’m located in Ipswich Queensland.
I don’t do very much push mowing (I’d prefer to do none at all lol). But unfortunately having a push mower is something you’re never going to get away with not having if you deal with real estates or just accept jobs sight unseen. I like the idea of how light it is and being able to store it in any direction without worrying about oil getting into the engine.

I've had a Rasion mower for five years and, as you say, it does a very serviceable job. I'm use it only for sections of our one acre plat that can't be conveniently reached by a ride-on; so it gets very light use. And I'm very happy with the mulching kit I bought with it, to avoid having to empty the box every few minutes. Its only real weakness is dealing with long grass in damp conditions when it can clamp up. Plus, I should add that I was disappointed when the charger unit failed a weak ago - with no apparent cause, or explanation, or possibility of repair.

I've had my Rasion 2 for almost a year now. Come back for another watch. I never lock my front wheels. It cuts down so much time edging out a lawn with the swivel wheels. Very neat cut. I do agree that it needs more height settings. I pretty much use 35/45mm mostly as well. I'm hoping we can get a disc + flails for dewy mornings. The two down sides I've noticed so far is the "high lift" blades quickly don't work on dewy or damp grass. The Masport 5000AL battery mower does a much better job with standard high lift flail blades in these conditions. The only other down side is the catcher mounts constantly fill up with grass and have to clear them regularly or the catcher will be higher than normal. Last good thing though is it fits most places my 21" mowers used to and saves so much time with the bigger stripes. Swivel wheels make turning at the end of a run so easy. Cheers for the video Ki :)

Push only model is about $1550 it's so light I'm told by the owner he doesn't need the drive. But I'm spoilt and lazy and I want the drive model anyway. The battery is ok in $ when you consider it turns into your backpack battery to run the Hedger or whippersnipper or blower. That's the key to battery costs is to use it on everything. Also the smallest size battery to run the mower efficiently is the 700 watt and it's about a grand I believe. I'm doing a trial run with one soon. It's another education on these things . I'm super impressed with the gear. Also did you know there's a more powerful brush cutter suitable for that five ft high crap you have to do on occasions.

Hi mate, yeah the Pellenc gear is amazing. I personally just don’t want to have to carry the battery to use the tools. The mower is the best battery mower on the market in my opinion. I’d recommend the 1200 watt battery for it depending on how much you are mowing. Let me know what you think once you’ve tried it out 👍🏻

First time i saw one of these it was on sale slightly used, the pictures were taken in a poorly lit garage and the price tag (still nearly 2000 euros) seemed like a joke because it looked like someone had stolen half the parts and just sprinkled the rest into a pile resembling a modern art piece made of garden equipment.

One thing always puzzled me about Husqvarna.. They make professional grade commercial equipment, from chainsaws to hedge trimmers to grass trimmers. And they do that both in gas and battery powered lines. But they don't have any commercial lawnmowers in their lineup. Now that I think of it, Stihl is the same. Why is that?
I remember when I was starting the business I went to a Husky dealer and bought myself the 525 trimmer, (in my humble opinion the best gas powered trimmer on the market, perfect ratio of power vs weight), and I asked the guy if he could recommend me a gas mower with a blade clutch. He looked at me in a funny way and told me Husqvarna doesn't make mowers with a blade clutch. OK, I said, can you point me to the most powerful 21" mower. He showed me the one with B&S engine sporting 2,5 Kw.. I mean really?
After some research I went to a Honda dealer and got myself the mighty Honda HRX 537. On the other hand Honda's lineup of grass and hedge trimmers is awful..

Not a bad video. I have the 1st generation lawnmore that I got last year. It's good to see they got rid off the load driving noise. When the drive was working it sounded like a scream. Which was very annoying indeed. I have a Bosch lawnmower GRA 53 as well which is as quite as a dead mouse.
Good to see the update on the wheels making them more robust. As I broke 2 just from normal use. I am going to look at the new Stihl when I get my hands on it.
All my hand held tools are all Stihl. In Ireland we have more rain to you and damp. Batteries don't like the damp and get into the connections so keep them dry to stop corrosion on the points. That's my top tip for all people on battery power stuff.
Will you be doing the Stihl soon.

Yeah it’s pretty steep but it’s in a whole different league to all other current battery mowers. The Honda’s are still a bit more powerful and cheaper initially but the cost over the course of the mowers life will end up in favour of the Pellenc, still a lot upfront tho. If you want battery it doesn’t get any better than the Pellenc.

@@plucka9999 I know people who have some battery powered Pellenc tools, mostly sheers, chain saws and cultivators (mostly wine producers). This lithion batterys, if stored right will do at least 800-1000 charge/discharges before starting to lose autonomy and degrade. 1000 is alot. Some have them for 10years. I have the h21 selion saw, 2,1kW, with 700 battery. In 8 years not lost an amp and it payed off + its just "press to play" tool, so convinient. Ofcourse there are exceptions that go over or bellow those numbers but generaly, long term costs are in favor of battery range tools.

It looks awesome and i'd love to get one. But it needs to be on the same power level as the honda 216 (running at 3600rpm). I dont mind paying for cool gadets, but i couldn't justify buying something thats less efficient (power wise) then my pre existing honda 216. Especially when you're forced to pay the running costs upfront aswell ($2600 for 1500wh battery). If anything, Honda really need to release a new commercial 21" that has more power. as the 216 is a bit gutless imo.
Match or exceed the power of the Honda 216 and i'll be the first to throw my money at it.

Lovelawns i definitely want one. But i think ill wait for the pelenc rasion 3 first (so probably 2023..), as i assume that’ll be the ticket for me in terms of power. I love the concept, especially being able to tip it over for onsite deck cleaning and hanging it up inside the trailer to save space. It being lighter to carry aswell is definitely a plus. Ive had a few jobs where i had to pickup the honda by hand and dam its heavy and awkward to lift. I had a quick look at the new stihl one about to be released. It says its 1500watts for a 24inch cut, seeing as the rasion 2 is 1600 watts at 21inch cut. I think its safe to say the stihl will likely have considerably less power then the pellenc.

    • @lovelawns
      @lovelawns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah the Honda’s are ridiculously heavy. The Rasion will have more power than the Stihl and the blade speed is much faster too. It is a 24 inch cut as well. Will test the Stihl when it’s released though, see what it’s like. I think the Rasion 3 will be a beast whenever it comes out.

No fumes, no vibrations, very little noise, simple on and off etc etc. Batteries are only going to improve with time. You've only got to look at the way the world is changing to see that it's not a novelty, Stihl and Husqvarna are fully invested in battery gear, more so now than their petrol line.
