Good review. Thank you. I agree with your every comment. I bought the same mower in July 2024. It performed flawlessly for the first four weeks, and I was completely happy with it, but then the self-propelled feature suddenly stopped working. The blades still spun, so I had to push this heavy mower to finish my mow. After a call to customer service, I was referred to an Ace Hardware store for a warranty repair. (I purchased at Lowes.) The shop mechanic said he was backed up and couldn't look at it for at least 2 weeks. He said that when he determines the problem, parts availability from Chicago or China will determine when I could have the mower back. This Friday it will be 2 weeks. This afternoon, I bought a gas Toro Super Recycler as a backup. For new EGO purchasers, register your mower as soon as you take delivery to make the process quicker, just in case you have to call for a warranty referral. Now, sadly, I have a gas can in my garage again. If I had purchased from Ace, I wonder if the initial evaluation would have been less than two weeks. I'll never know.
Very good comment! Great suggestion to purchase a warranty. Always a good idea to register a higher priced item. I have also used Toro in the past and have had great success. You found a good interim replacement for sure.
@@EthanYoung069 , to clarify, I didn't purchase a warranty. I just registered my mower online for the factory warranty. Even if an extended warranty was available and I did buy it, I don't think that would improve the poor customer service of the Ace repair shop turnaround time.
The additional weight over prior EGO is substantial, and it very difficult for older mowers to handle turn arounds. It cost about 35% more, do you need it that power? Will you need a second battery? for large yards or for long or wet grass. The best comes with its downsides.
Totally agree with you! This mower is definitely not for everyone. After a certain point, one may need to upgrade to a rider for bigger lawns. This mower really shines when it comes to your typical small to semi-large suburbanite lawn.
I'm not particularly keen on doing more work than I have to on my days off. I have found that I am able to navigate bends, slopes, and turns much easier than my previous mowers due to the adjustable bar and the ample amount of power from the self propel feature.
I have taken this through wet grass a few times and it's just about as unenjoyable as any other push mower I have done it with. Generally speaking, a 7.5Ah battery will cut up to approximately 1200sqm. I believe Ego has a lawn size conversion chart so people are able to get a good idea of how much power they will need.
I have taken the approach of purchasing a few extra batteries and I have never had an issue with running short on power. I rarely go through half of my 10Ah battery for both my front and back yard.
When somebody says aluminum or steel deck have longer longevity than plastic, it's because he doesn't know Honda. Stop that myth, please. My last Honda lasted 30 years before I resold it with no trace of wear. I had something like 4 Hondas before. So I know for sure. My dream mower is a Honda deck with that EGO motor. I cannot care less about the look of a mower. The lag every time you engage the traction is irritating. This enormous bag is awesome. Those wheels are also awesome. The weight and lower manoeuvrability of this thing is the limiting factor. Maybe not on flat lands, but certainly on technical and slopy terrains.
Awesome.. I'm needing to buy a push mower for my new place, doesnt need a rider/tractor and really want to go Electric and your video is helping with that decision.
I saw a tip in some other video that I am going to pass on.. the guy said to wax underneath the mower so grass sticks less if its a big issue for you. I am definitely going to try that.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to look into this.
Thanks for the review!
It is my pleasure!
Nice grass
Good review! I wish this was available when I bought my Ego mower. Makes me nervous seeing you wearing slides while you mow 😳
You are so right, I should have chosen a safer foot wear option.
Please be safe ! Never mow your lawn with flip flops. Put on a pair of sneakers or yard shoes.
I agree. Will definitely be doing better in this area!
Mowing while wearing flip-flops? Not the most sensible.
Yes, not a safe decision on my part. This is a rare occurrence.
