After a couple months on my 2021 I have no problems with the stock seat, I can do couple hour rides wearing a backpack without much discomfort. I jumped from a 2019 MT-09, zero regrets, the 701 is much lighter and it has PLENTY of power even for highway rides, huge fun at the track.
Bought a 2023 Gas Gas 700 SM for $12,700 OTD first week of January and in a month I’ve already put 1,400 miles on it. Added a wings slip on exhaust (removed the baffle) tail tidy kit and wider foot pegs. Absolutely love the bike! It’s a monster!
What track cost $1000??? Track day at the ridge Motorsports park is $250 I sat on a GASGAS and the husqvarna today. I like the seat on the husky but I like the wheels on the gasgas better. Plus the gasgas is about $1500 cheaper right now.
Hey man, sweet bike. I have a 23 690 and just getting to know the bike. I noticed you have it in mode 2 and hitting wheelies. I thought the tc needed to be off for that..obviously I’m not comfortable enough yet to find out for myself so thought I’d ask. I’m still not sure what all the electronics do. Thanks🤙
it can be finicky but it can still wheelie with the TC on. if you do it too abruptly it will cut power as you lift the wheel and make you slam back down. but as long as you do a controlled wheelie and you dont loose traction it will go smoothly. But for the best wheelies you want everything off of course.
It's a best bike you can get for that money, it don't requires your soul and whole salary to repair, if you drop it - nothing serious happens Dyno says it's 73hp at wheel with DNA filter and straightpipe which is aprox 85hp at crank and that's insane for single cylider engine with extreme long maintenance intervals Dash has trip 1 and trip 2, it would be great if they make 3rd option as a fuel gauge like approximately how much fuel left, like VW group has on dash, just numbers and nothing else, also tacho mode so you can see revs and speed at same time, you can buy CUMPAN dash actually, but it messes up all the minimalistic design, but it's giving you all the important information like coolant temp, oil temp, rpm's and in which gear you are, it's crazy how smart this bike actually is, but it will never tell you that due to outdated dash
The bike is pretty tall, worth considering if you're a shorter guy. I own a 2020 701. I am only 5'7, but I've had no issues, no clue what my inseam is though. No way in hell can I flatfoot the bike on both sides. I am on my tippy toes so what I usually do is leaving my right foot on the peg covering the rear brake putting my left foot on the ground when coming to a stop making sure I'm in first.
@@AmenCornerRider Oh cool. Yeah, you should be fine. Considering you're 2 inches taller than me and might have longer legs I don't think you will have a problem. My biggest issue is backing the bike up while sitting on it. Especially if the ground is uneven and covered in gravel. Your feet slip very easily so I tend to step off the bike if I need to back it up. Best of luck to you🙂
no tail tidy! just un bolt the little piece that extends and hold the license plate. There is a video called "Free 701 Mods" or something like that that showed how to do it. You will have to get creative with the license plate mounting tho
Too big and heavy to be the king of supermotos. Bike doesn’t even qualify for any supermoto series. If you can’t even be in supermoto then you’re not really a good supermoto lol. Still like my smcr. It’s a solid street bike but not really a supermoto.
@@MiamiJato best at what? Being a street bike? That’s not what a supermoto is. The 690/701/700 are street bikes built from the ktm duke. Have you tried to use them for the actual sport of supermoto? They suck lol. Too big and heavy. Great street bikes and that’s why I have a 2023 690 but they’re far from being good supermotos.
Totally agree. Can’t name it supermoto as well. It’s street bike at first while sumo is track devise…a weapon) sometimes have track days with “real” 450s and of course i s@ck a lot. But i ride my 690 from home to track and feel good on road and then feel rather good at track. And that is what it is made for imho. Being good here and there but being not perfect everywhere. And that is what i want from it). Have friends who switched to more dirt of more highway bikes and all they want to go back to 690 platform after some time. So rockON!
Do you get to define what SUMO is? A bike dies not need to qualify for a series to make it legitimate. Where do you get this nonsense from? That is the thought process if a child. Any dirtbike that has street wheels and tires qualifies as a supermoto. Further still you could take the bike in the video put dirt tires on it and go anywhere you want to go with ease as you could with any dirt bike.

Does the bike lean right when you wheelie it?

Hard for me to justify spending 18 k $canadian money out the door taxxes in on a dirtbike but looks worth it !
Maybe because your not a stunt rider and do more highway and just the casual wheelie
Just got a 690 KTM SMCR, much better then my DRZ.......

The price almost the same as ducati
