      Never made a video on it, just explained as much as I could here. Recording slows me down and I’m so busy I can’t stop 😆 but it is a lot of trial and error, eye balling, and “figuring it out” wish I could help more. Johnny seeds sells a gothic greenhouse pipe bending kit if you have the money 👍

      @@SaludaGradeFarm I will be establishing the farm in rural area in South East Nigeria. I have no idea about hydroponics but I believe it best suits the needs of the communities. I'm learning and most of the information I have is mostly from TH-cam . I am looking for a mentor and an academy or some organisation that teaches individuals on best practices on hydroponics. Hopefully I can link up with you. Many thanks 🙏

      I think it suits their needs if they have well water, rain water collection would need to be sanitized, and it could be difficult to store enough during the rainy season to get through the rest of the year. Farming gods way is intense work, but it is a farming method that can be used in conjunction with the rainy seasons all of the prep work is done in the dry season. Plus from what I understand a lot of them just really like to eat 🌽 corn, so growing in a field is vital.

    is there that much savings since you are buying all the other parts? have you figured the cost delta? i may have to do this if it is cheap enough to make it worth not going for a kit.

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on my research ( I was an accountant for 8 years ) yes it did save me a ton of money. Now I was building these during Covid. When prices of greenhouses skyrocketed!
      Now I am not a fan of diy if it doesn’t save money or is not practice, in fact I do it as a necessary evil only when necessary an example is my hydroponic rafts and channels, I spend the extra money on commercial ones because nothing I can make would be better.
      Now about this greenhouse, I think it saves money even though I bought fans, clamps, and wiggle channels, that costed a ton, but the real big cost savings is if you didn’t buy this kind of stuff, because it’s not necessary for a true diy guy with time to spare.
      For a comparison build a caterpillar tunnel over at farmers friends, and see what a 14x50’ caterpillar tunnel would cost.
      Thanks for the comment, hope this helped!

      @AlsanPine ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SaludaGradeFarm caterpillars are great for warmer places... i am way up near Canadian border. i am building more permanent green houses i have designed specifically for the cold, but i was thinking of a gothic tunnel as well as an extender for now. your build looks like exactly what i envisioned for that. i was just wondering how much it ended up costing. i am a major diyer but i am not going to go that way if it only saves me 10% or something... i'm retired so i have time but i also have a lot of projects so i go full diy if it saves me a lot of money. cheers🙂

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, not worth the hassle for 10% when you can be up and running a lot faster and easier by buying a kit. Although sometimes freight for a greenhouse can be many times the 10% you save, and access to your property can be an issue too.
      Gothic is the way to go! I have been through 16” of snow with this and it just sheds right off, probably nothing like what you get though.
      Good luck!

    Hello there, really like this build! Looks easy enough, and really sturdy. Just a bit confused, hope you can help me out. I see that after bending your hoops, and laying them out, you said it was roughly 14 foot wide, and about 6 foot tall, so you have to add knee walls. While this width is perfectly fine, and I think just adding knee wall would make this a great greenhouse, what would I have to do to end up with what you show in the end? I believe yours is 24’ wide? I’ve watched this several times, seems I’m missing something. I’m thinking a 20’-24’ wide, by 50’ would be a great size for me. So I’m really hoping you can help me out . Thank you for your time!

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It takes 3 10’ 1-3/8”pieces of pipe for the bow. 2 are bent, and then 1 is cut in half and each half is added to the bent pipe. I use 2 5’ 1-5/8”posts for the knee wall. Some say you can use the 1 3/8” pipe for your knee wall, but it depends on how high you want to go. The higher you go the stronger the knee wall needs to be! Good luck!

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use 1 5/8” chain link fence posts, and I pound them in with a fence post driver. It’s a lot of work and take 2-3 days, I mark all 4 corner posts to layout the green house, then I pound those in first, I use a laser level to check for level, then I run a string for the height of all the other posts. I pound 3-4 posts in, then assemble the trusses and put them in, then pound 3-4 more posts in and repeat the process.
      Hope this helps!

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, they typically bolt in July, which means they go to seed, but August they’re right back at it. Essentially the main problem is the length of day they go into a reproductive cycle so even if you keep them cool enough, the length of days going to which means we have to harvest them with lower yield

    I'm getting jealous watching your channel. I have tons of experience with many of the same systems you are running from years of indoor high value horticulture and I've DIY'd so many of the same products(I love the $60 V-fan hack, I would never have the nerve to charge $700 for something so simple. I replaced multiple fans with one I DIY'd, but found I needed wall fans to strengthen stems) I got real fancy with the build, I like how simple your's is, probably works as well or better. imgur.com/a/tqSwkiS
