  • Hallsome farm practices sustainable farming methods, in this video we show how we bend pipe to build the greenhouse structure. It is very important the frame of the greenhouse is strong and can hold up to bad weather conditions. Using metal pipe provides solid strength for this purpose.

Way cheaper than buying a greenhouse kit. Thanks for the post. If you build a greenhouse the polycarbonate corrugated panels are way too expensive but layered clear plastic is significantly more affordable.

If you happen to live in an area that gets a significant snowfall in winter, I suggest doing what I did. It WORKS GREAT.
I used 50" x 16' Cattle Panel and covered that top of the frame with THAT, then put on the plastic. We had 2 different
snow DUMPS of 3 feet up here in Montana, and the plastic held up perfectly. If you live in an area that does NOT get
too much snow, then you probably don't need to add the cattle panels, but it SAVED my 8 x 12 hoophouse from the
same fate as many up here faced...........total collapse of their plastic covers. It also gives you TONS of places to hang
plants, tools, and other items to keep your bench space clear.

A Simple way to Avoiding Twisting the Pipe as you Bend it is to use a Black Marker or Crayon.
Lay the Pipe Flat, and Run the Marker down the Top of the pipe, from one end to the other.
Now turn the pipe, and place the Line in the Center-line of your Bender Tool.
When Bending and Repositioning the pipe, Keep the Line in the Center-line of the bending tool.
This will Keep the Pipe from being Twisted as you Bend.
t also helps to Align when Assembling the Pipes for the Arch.
30 Seconds extra time, which will save you $$'s and Headaches.
And possibly a Few Bad Words.

Greenhouse ? Im throwing a commercial flatbed steel tarp , made it 22 ft long and its the best boat cover you could ask for , it never touches the boat and it keeps the weather off it ...but the boat got evicted by the more expensive mini skid and scag zero turns , and im in hurricane country , but i just remove the tarp if its over 60 mph winds , and put it back afterwards ..

      @HallsomeFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have different benders for size, but I suppose you could add half a link, bty it 13/8 pipe top rail of chain link fencing. The 15/8 pipe for the side walls I would make at least 4 to 5 foot tall and stretch the 13/8 rib into wall pipe.

I tried to avoid the cost of the bender, but I eventually broke down and bought one. I tried the bender in the Lowes store. I took that back. I bought the low tunnel bender from Johnny's. i still don't know how much EMT to stick thru the bender and then start to bend? I bent some last year and this is my second year having my tunnel up. I found with the 6 mil plastic and the winter I never got out there to water, end result I lost my plants. I used (15) and (19) wt. Agribon, but they ripped. I recently got Xavan 15' X 50' which is a Dupont product. I can see in the box that it is A LOT stronger than the Agribon. I will try it in the spring bc it is too cold up north. My Agribon (19) has a hole in the top of unknown origin? Perhaps I pulled the Agribon too tightly? I had to clamp (2) Agribon sheets together to cover the width bc I bought 83". My low tunnel is 79" across so that is why I have to put (2) sheets together. I got a Jang seeder so now I can seed as much as I want to and make patterns. I am looking forward to using the seeder. The down side, as I can see so far, is that I can not plant flower seeds with the Jang, but I'm sure i'll figure it out. That guy is smart to have you bend the pipe bc just getting to the realization and acceptance that you need a bender to accomplish a greenhouse can take days of frustration like I spent.

A bender is the best way to go, in bending any pipe extend 6” past the pipe band, in case of the 4’ emt bend after making the first bend take the pipe out turn it around and bend the second half just like the first, comes out perfect every time. So far my agribon cloth has worked for me, but we don’t get snow here. Thanks for the comments

"i still don't know how much EMT to stick thru the bender and then start to bend?"
The first X" remains Straight. That bit goes into the pipes you set in the ground and is fastened into the vertical 'ground pipe' that holds each end of each hoop in place. He uses six-inches in this video. I suspect this is not critical, but needs to fit into whatever you are using to hold the hoop ends to the ground.
A hoop is basically half of a circle. so, you find the width of the hoop at ground level and this is the DIAMETER. Half of that is the RADIUS. To find how much (length(s)) of pipe, you need to find the CIRCUMFERENCE of the CIRCLE with a RADIUS = one-half the width of the hoop at ground level and add 2 times the amount of pipe left straight (say six inches twice, so add 1 foot).
Since CIRCUMFERENCE = Two x Pi x RADIUS, the length of pipe required would be equal to .5* (2 *Pi*r)+12" in this case.

Charles Senf I've accepted that I'll never have the perfect bend. What I've bent is doing very well for my GA Collards. I've used (18)" rebar, but I've thought about getting a lil longer so my low tunnel can sit higher. I may grow Brussels Sprouts next winter. I guess I should put (6)" in, then start bending. The Xavan is doing good, no tares.

Let me add......I used FOUR cattle panels to cover the whole structure of my 8 x 12 hoophouse. Just wanted to make that
    clear so no confusion.

Where do you buy your fence pipe/tubing and how much is it? Home Depot is too proud of their stuff for me, I need to check some of the other places around town and see what they've got and their price. Thanks man

We have the greenhouse cover custom fit to your need, price is 38 cents a square foot. I am a distributor for the material, you'll also need the ploy track and scench strap to go along with the cover. I can be contacted at bobf.hall@gmail.com if you want a quote.

12' takes two 10'6" pipe 16' takes two and half. You need to by the pipe bender for the size you want to build. I have 4 different sizes I use. If you interested I have a link in the notes where to buy one best pricing I know of.
