I believe we did up to chapter 14 (if I remember correctly). Around October this year, I took out my cassette tapes, (yes cassette tapes) from the class I attended, and started to study all over again on my own. In October this year (2024) I found your channel, thank you Lord God Almighty!!! You talked the video that Dr. Black had made, I knew nothing about this video. (I 'm still technology challenged.) So then I began my search for the video you mentioned. I started studying alone his guidelines, as the video suggested. Since I have access to Dr Black videos it is such a blessing. Thank you John!!!! If you had not made your video, I might never have known about Black 's recordings. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I highly recommend Mathews on and Emig. It avoids elucidating uses into hundreds of cases like Wallace does, but does a great job explaining in a big picture way what the cases and conjugations mean. They do take the Porter/Campbell view on verbal aspect and time off which I'm not quite convinced of which is worth knowing. It s a good complement to Andreas and Kostenburger with it being the spiritual successor to Wallace

@@annagaiser5186 Yes there is, I think Wallace is actually an advanced grammar. Also A.T. Robertson wrote probably the mother of all advanced grammars "A grammar of the Greek New testament in light of historical research" also Dave Black wrote an advanced grammar as well.
I don't want to be that guy but... But unfortunately ONLY a greek can teach you our language. I m not implying any superiority or something among these lines,BUT it s the truth. All the foreigners who teach greek, unfortunately they don't have the proper accent and on top of that , they don't know fully the language.

@@EmpireOfLEMBERG I think there is a definite argument that can be made to use the "living language" approach rather then the "grammar translate" method. I do think however that most of us learning koine Greek are learning it for reading rather than communication, however I'm not opposed to other methods.

It depends on which greek, because our language differs from archaic to modern greek.
Not that much,but for sure you ll find many differences.
