      We can all thank Jack, not sure if it played a part in the decision, but as someone that felt in love with the PRS Special, I can’t weight how happy I am to see it amongst the core models now. I will definitely save up to offer it to myself for xmas :)

    Today, I would say the three main pillars of PRS are now the Silver Sky (Strat), the 594 (Les Paul) and a Custom (or eventually the Special since it’s based on the Custom 22). Of course, we really need to count five pillars if we really want to be accurate, and one of them is the Hollowbody II (335) and one future potential pillar could be the NF53 (Tele). Those 5 PRS guitars would cover pretty much all major guitar types (Tele, Strat, Les Paul, Modern and a Hollowbody). When PRS started, they were only covering the modern take on guitar with the Custom 22/24, which was a compromise between Strat and a Les Paul. But now they finally released a PRS version of all the major guitars.

    probably your choice of the semihollow is now demonstrably evident to listeners as to all three pillars; i had no idea that this could out perform the other two giants in the range; but i will search for your demo of the modern eagle V to compare with the semihollow; prs makes it so difficult to make a choice because their pillars are so strong; but you have kept the CU 24 till the end; i personally dont have a semihollow but i have bought two CU 24s and if they can be surpassed by a semi hollow then i too am sold; that semi hollow has a mystique across all three pillars;

    I have all 3 of these - the Semi-Hollow Special really is a Special instrument!! The 594 is amazing - also added the Hollowbody 594 to my collection recently too. I also have a HBii with Piezo and that perhaps is a bit more versatile but for 'pure' electric sounds, the 594 is awesome. I have 7 core PRS guitars in total and each has their own thing so I can see why its difficult to pick just 3

    • @ericwong1972
      @ericwong1972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey I have a hb 594. How different is the regular 594 to your hb? Thanks

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ericwong1972 They are quite similar but the HB version is a bit more open/airy. Obviously its a quite a bit lighter and a bit thicker too.
      The Solid body version is a great instrument. Owning both is a bit like owning both a Les Paul and a 335 - except of course the PRS's are a lot more similar to play as the body shape and size is a lot closer.
      My 594's are both the oldest and newest PRS guitars I own - therefore my Solid Body doesn't have the same finish or TCI treatment. What I may think of as subtle differences may well be quite big differences to you and vice versa so all I can say is to try a SB and compare yourself.

    • @ericwong1972
      @ericwong1972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BAMozzy69 thanks! I haven’t found any comparisons on the internet. I am wondering if I should have gotten the special instead of 594 hb lol.

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ericwong1972 The correct answer is to get them ALL LMAO.
      The Special is a different instrument - Its much more a Custom 22 with more tonal options - more than a 594. The 594 is a more 'vintage' inspired instrument with more vintage sounding Pups. The Special has a bit more bite to it. It has 58/15 MT's (Multi-Tap) so not Low Turn and can be tapped. Its a bit more 'classic' sounding than the 85/15 loaded Cu22 and Special is certainly an apt name.
      The body is thinner too and its 'semi-hollow' - much less 'air' inside. The Narrowfield is thicker sounding than a SC and can't be used on its own and of course you have a trem bridge. Neck carve and scale length is more typical PRS too so all in all, its a different guitar and easy to justify owning as well - which is why I also have one - mine is in my Avatar currently - a lovely Charcoal Cherry Burst...
      If you are looking to add to your collection, I think the Special would probably give you more variation than considering a Solid 594.
      Also, the Special may well be more difficult to find in the future - at least if you want a specific colour...
