Holy. My mind kept getting blown with each guitar he played. Never owned a PRS before and the options are so overwhelming, but damn does that DGT sound fantastic!

Apophis PNW Noop. I know Koch and Quayle well. Koch is of course a genius but his style is a bit too much for me. Not so impressed by Quayle though. Super technical but rather boring and limited fusion style playing. This guy is much broader and has a feel in his playing that Quayle lacks.

All are great , I’ve owned many PRS ,
But in the end I chose the DGT , Tone is incredible, you have gotten a better amp that shows clean tones
These are all very nice guitars, however, what would probably be a more useful video for most of your viewers is one where you compare each level of PRS guitar. You could have one each from the PRS Standard, PRS SE, PRS S2, Core, and private stock/wood library. I wouldn't consider myself poor but in all reality I can only afford a guitar that's a third of what some of these go for. A PRS full line comparison video would probably also get a lot of views from prospective PRS buyers (me included!).
But you can't afford one. You just told them that! Why would they spend a cent marketing Core lines to you?

All of the guitars are great! PRS has cracked the code on the pickups and all of their humbuckers sound superb. All are out of my price range. The SE line would be more in my budget but for the money, the John Mayer Silver Sky is the one. Saving my shillings to buy one. Great demo and playing!
rdmkeytohwy yeah I think its because they went for a more “recorded” sound. Like the ones on classic records. Paul mentioned something like that at one point.
DGT all the way it's just so versatile. Takes a while to get used to the frets and the 11's but they're just great
Well that’s when you change the strings to whatever it is that floats your boat. You don’t HAVE TO use 11’s.

That's great and all, but would have been nice if you would have given your impression. Like how the necks felt in comparison, if the guitars felt balanced, which you preferred and things like that.
Do you think the Double Cut 594 is dark sounding. I have one and that is the issue I have with it....too dark. The DGT is harmonically rich sounding, beautiful.
I have a 2018 Custom 24 and a 2016 DC594 and these are fantastic, high quality instruments. I also have a 2017 509 and 2018 Hollowbody II w Piezo. With these 4, I have such a wide range of tonal options. I love the 594 for that Vintage LP feel and sound, the Custom 24 is more modern, higher output option. The 509 is just so versatile but I use it mostly for the 'tele/stratty' tones that my other guitars don't offer and its great for whatever you need. The Hollowbody is a new acquisition for me but I just love it. I don't play 'Jazz' which is often how this guitar is demonstrated but mostly blues/rock and it can take a LOT of gain too without feeding back. I want the HB 594 now too and that is likely to be my 'next' guitar purchase...
The 594, whether you go for a SC or DC version is such a great instrument. You have 8 combinations with the Split coils and 3-way. The neck carve is 'unique' amongst the PRS family and feels so comfortable, so much like its been worn in already and familiar. I would highly recommend you check out the 594...
Hey Bam ! Have seen you in other commentaries. Man, you have a library of PRS guitars! I've owned a DC McCarty 594 for a couple months now. Playing it last week along with my Strat, the neck on the 594 seemed a bit sticky. I did some reading and found it wasn't my imagination. One cat used and recommended an application of Gerlitz#1 wax and claimed the neck played like ice! Well, I received a container of the wax(1/2 way filled I might add) and I'm going to apply now. Spoke with my PRS dealer amd he claimed it'll do the trick. Wondering if you experienced anything similar with any of your models. Regardless, I don't think I'll purchase another guitar with a painted neck again. I'm thinking Private Stock for my next musical investment !!! Love the quality and prideful craftsmanship I don't think we'll find in any other brand.

@@johnmcaleese8459 What year is your 594? Personally, I don't find the necks sticky as the older finish is a bit like 'glass'.
The newer finish with Nitro on top of a base coat does feel like there is some 'resistance' but then Nitro doesn't set and gets a bit more tacky when warm.
I think maybe different hands (temp, sweat etc) may have different experiences. As I don't have an issue, I haven't tried wax myself.
All my necks are natural with a stain - rather than painted - but of course, you still have the finish coats on top - whether that makes a difference, I don't know....
Anyway, hope it sorts it out for you...

@@BAMozzy69 My Strat doesn't seem to get sticky. I have been told (seriously) that my hands are unusually warm. ??? The rest of me is unusually cold!!!!
@@johnmcaleese8459 All I can say is that it seems different hands react differently with different finishes. I don't know if there is a rule that all players with 'warm' hands find Nitro sticky for example as there are people with warmer hands that seem to find Nitro smooth. Also different manufacturers have their unique Nitro formula and even can vary from different years. There is 100's. if not 1000's of different Nitro or Poly finishes and people tend to lump all Nitro or all Poly together as the 'same' thing...
As such, its really difficult to say that Player A with Warm hands will find all Nitro finished guitars sticky because there are two many variables - but Nitro doesn't set (unless mixed with other chemicals) and often has plasticisers too which gets sticky when warm but even then, some people won't find it sticky...

The sound of ALL custom 24s suck big time for me ! The DGT is the best I've ever heard....Jack you are an incredible player ! But the custom 24 just doesn't do justice ! But definitely an amazing video to watch ! 🙌

Your playing epic. I think they all sound fantastic for different reasons but similar. I think the 24 has more strat like quack... and a little brighter... and the others sounds more Gibson like slightly warmer. Again all awesome. I have three PRS guitars...core 24, CE 24, and the 245. My 245 and cu 24 sound strikingly similar even though they have completely different body shape... but my CE sounds alot different. From this video I wouldn't spend more money than the cu 24 costs... unless I was getting a third middle pickup or hollow body too... They just don't sound different enough to warrant any added cost for me... though if you are a real classic player I can see the need for less hot pickups. Hell John Mayer gets fat tone from a strat.. and it's a thin body guitar with maple neck and single coil pickups...go figure... can adjust quite a bit in EQ... to a certain extent...

McCarty 594 sounds best to me, most versatile with the coil pulls.
Used to own a DGT... sounds a tad better than any Les Paul I’ve ever tried, but could not befriend the control layouts... so... dreaming of a 594...
What finish is that SC 594? Charcoal Burst?

Does the Custom 24 have a way to split coil like the Paul's so that you get a choice of single coil on neck and humbucker on the bridge and vice versa?
Blackdog4818 no, but the 2408 does which is basically a custom 24 with the mini toggles from the 408.
I’ve got to go into a shop and try ‘em out. Can’t tell if I like the sound of the singlecut 594 or the dgt better. Custom sounded ice picky, double cut 594 didn’t have the same sauce as the singlecut
All sounded great but to me the DGT takes the cake. Such a fantastically thought-out guitar. The DGT neck shape, the jumbo frets and the .11s work so well, as do the dual volume controls and the 5-spring trem.
Prs always have 4 springs...

No. It’s a certain 1958 guitar they’re aiming at. Hence the FIFTY EIGHT/15 pickups and the thicker-than-‘59 neck.
Not to complain but man this video would be complete with a 513/509 because even though they arent the most popular they show the other side of PRS sounds
Before watching this video, I was a solid DGT customer, with the 594 being a close second. Now you went and ruined it all. 🤦♂️😜
To me..it sounds like the pickups on the custom 24 and DGT are hotter and take the overdrive from the Mesa boogie better. The custom 24 has more sustain and a more complex voice than the DGT but it seems like he likes the feel of the DGT better because he played it longer and with more passion. Pure tone I give to the custom 24 for the sustain, build and voice. The 594s sound similar and the pickups have a lower output and more classic feel with far more tonal variations with those split coils and incomparable clean tones out of the neck pick ups. It sounds like the DC has more brightness and punch than the SC and he played it longer and with more passion than the SC and I prefer the tone and voice of the DC. I own a custom 22 10-top through a mesa boogie mark V 25 and selling my 50th anniversary ‘59 VOS les Paul bc it feels “clunky” compared to my PRS. The 594 DC is in the lead to replace it. Any thoughts?

I’m not sure entirely what it is, but from the first moment I saw PRS guitars over a decade ago I’ve never ever liked the body shape. Seem overly small with an odd symmetry, headstock is kinda naff too. Of these though the gold top sounded the best.
Too bad you didn't have one of their semi-hollow models. I have always found PRS guitars too bright to my ears (heard on videos or tried myself). Their semi-hollow versions compensate for that for some reason. When I bought mine, I tried a custom 22 £2000 and semi-hollow custom 22 SE £720. The Custom 22 SE semi-hollow played and sounded so great, without this too bright sound that I went for it. Since I have put some Ernie Ball custom 11 on it, and it sounds even better. I should add that to my ears, their 594 models don't have that "too bright" "problem".
I think the "too bright" approach is because it's easier to have a guitar with lots of clarity and then use the tone knob to darken it then it is to try to pull genuine clarity from darker pickups using post-guitar eq.

What a missed opportunity. They sounded terrible to me. Harsh, thin and generic in this presentation.
I wouldn't consider it a missed opportunity, more a video team getting to grips with the logistics and intricacies of recording guitars......this video is over 3 years old now, you should check our PRS presentations these days, they sound as good as the very best!

These custom 22 and 24 guitars are glorified Gibson les paul studio plus tops. They have no binding around the body, neck and no fret nibs. It is so sad and pathetic that any rational human would ever put those guitars in the same superior category as a Gibson les paul standard. People are fucking delusional.
RxDoctorDaddy own it, and you’ll understand why it is overpriced and glorified. trying for several minutes or hours in a shop is not really an adequate experience.
PRS do binding in much more classy way by using the maple top to give a 'natural' and not some plastic glued around the edge. Its done in such a way that the 'faux' binding can be seen from the top. Gibson can't manage to keep the stain bleeding into their plastic binding and yet the craftsmanship of PRS manage to do binding the hard way and still keep it pristine.
Fret 'nibs ' are not a sign of quality either - it takes 2 second to trim of the bottom at either end. It just means that PRS aren't gluing plastic up either side of the fretboard but PRS fret work and rounded fretboards are far superior to Gibsons - also the nut is cut better too. The design of the headstock is superior and why Gibson's are not known for their tuning stability.
Talking of tuning, the tuners are higher quality and locking tuners as standard. PRS are known for their high quality with incredible attention to detail superior musical instruments. If you want a Gibson buy Gibson but if you want something a lot better, buy PRS.
I find its generally those that don't have the money or just wannabe posers where the name on the headstock is more important than the quality of the instrument that are critical of PRS - never anyone who has actually owned 1 - although their quality is addictive and often leads to owning multiple PRS guitars
@@BAMozzy69 Agreed BAM. I several Gibson's LP's, and PRS. My PRS will never leave me. I have custom shop strats/Tele's too. Each bring something of their own to the game but as far as quality is concerned, nothing touches PRS. To write off PRS like Mr. Daddy did there is just nonsense. Clearly he's never owned one, or maybe only played and seen a PRS SE or something.
It’s a shame Gibson’s are out of tune the first three frets , and you have to play a dozen to find good one , and the 22 and 24 models are nothing like a Gibson , it is you that’s delusional, I’ve owned many Gibson’s ,
PRS are fine guitars, no need to cut them down
