First of all: you play beatifully well. You're fluid, expressive, meaningful. I'm really impressed. Second : welcome to the PRS world. It seems that it's exactly what you've been experiencing while playing on this video! You just couldn't stop! And for the joy of us all (or at least for mine). Fourth: don't worry, you'll still be playing other guitars... Sometimes.... Try a Fiore or a Silver Sky! One more sub for you fella! Cheers, Avi
Buddy, after I saw this video I bought a PRS McCarty 594 SE in charcoal. I’d love to own a Core model but being a single dad I couldn’t justify spending the extra money. Anyway, your playing is off the charts fantastic and really showcases what makes PRS guitars so unique. Great work! Cheers brother! 🇺🇸🎸

PRS have been making seriously amazing gear for a while now. I think you've acquired everything I've been looking at getting since getting back into guitar after a long break. I think that's why I discovered you're channel originally because of the ceriatone amp! As soon as I finally manage to clear out some of my lesser used gear I'm buying the overtone and the PRS McCarty
After getting a Wood Library Custom 24-08 last November, I am conteplating the purchase of a 594... PRS makes great quality instruments that make playing so much easier... Great demo. Subbed, greetings from Greece!

LOL… youtube suggested this video, and I couldn’t remember I already watched it, and even commented on it. I was about to comment when I saw my own comment. And looking back, you finally cross the 10k subs mark, in a year. Congrats, well deserved. I have yet to play one of the single cut semi hollow! Can't find one anywhere but that is certainly the one I want next. Do you think it would sound wildly different to the double cut 594? Sorry it took me 19 years to answer the comment I must have missed it
Yeah I am wondering about this. The midrange of the single cut is delicious, the double cut seems to have a more focused lower mid, the single seems to have more mids in general. Then the single cut, semi hollow seems much more woody. All delicious. I cant decide either.

I picked up a blue semi-hollow version of this guitar at the start of the COVID days somewhat on a whim. Best guitar I ever bought by far and it's my favorite to this day.
Great playing great video and story!!! Hard to imagine you sounding better on anything else - it really fits you. I had a LP then a Charvel then played and bought my first PRS. I can get whatever I want and I choose PRS. I have had almost every model and the Custom 24 fits me. I have four 24's and a Single Cut Trem. I sold off everything else.
Whoa whoa whoaaaaaaaa hold on a minute.... They make a Single Cut with a TREM?! Man sometimes I hate being this new to things. Now I have to get a single cut with a trem. Congrats on that guitar, the 594 is the best guitar PRS has come out with since the 513 in 2004. Eminently playable, a stack of useable tones even before you start tweaking volume and tone, or touch the amp. A masterpiece. And no, I am not a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. I have a 594 Hollowbody on the way, adding another flavor to all that goodness. It takes a wise man to admit a view held in the past was wrong, but the benefits are, well, in this case, audible!
I am eyeing this full hollow body 594 on reverb in river blue. This comment does not help my bank account. Haha please let me know what you think of it when you get it!

@@BuddyBlues Ok... arrived yesterday, and I spent the evening and this morning getting to know it. I’ll cut to the chase... if you love the 594, it plays the same. If you dig the vibe of a hollowbody, without the feedback issues because it’s a solid maple top that’s carved top and back, inside and out, it delivers 594 tone with a little more vocal openness or “woodiness” as folks say. Build is what you expect from a PRS core guitar. It is exactly what I wanted, and looks as good as it sounds. You owe it to yourself to get your hands on one and see if it turns the key for you. Perfect frikkin’video bro! Info that I really needed. Haven’t made my decision yet between this and the Schecter Solo ll but this video gave me what I needed to ultimately help me make my decision after watching like 7 hours of videos. Peace from HARLEM, NY !!!! And thank you again!👊🏽🔥👊🏽🔥👊🏽🔥👊🏽🔥👊🏽
I just got one over the weekend. As an owner of 6 other PRS, this one stands alone. Amazing instrument as all PRS are, but this one shines. Great video and description Buddy. Very nice playing.
Great playing and video, thank you. Huge admiration for PRS build quality, appearance and desirability, yet tonally leave me cold, including this one. Don’t know what it is. Its great so many people dig them. I love my ‘57 strat & ‘59 335 I’ve had for years, never tire of and still discovering new sounds and expressions.
I always come back to this video. Sense of humor and a great guitar tone is a killer combination. After 1 year, having to choose between the PRS Mccarty 594 and the 60th anniversary Gibson Les Paul 1959, which one would you choose? I know, I shouldn’t ask this kind of question…
Im one of those prs fanatics. Ive got the 594 double cut (in blue) and i cant see ever turning loose of it. Of all the guitars in my collection, it is one of only a couple i plan to keep until i pass. My fender strat and a guitar i built myself are the only others i feel as strongly about. Ive got a tele that im still getting to know and it could make the final cut, but we will have to see how that pans out. Thanks for the video. And welcome to the prs affliction. Lol
Stellar! I bought a PRS 594 single cut semi hollow. I have a bad back and can’t play Les Pauls anymore. This is a word library and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a cross between a Les Paul and a 335+ with the coil tabs you can do so much more. Couldn’t be happier!

Me, a doctor, looking at her Epiphone Les Paul and an Alvarez parlor acoustic: “Shit. I need to get a PRS. My game is apparently weak.” 😂 But seriously. Great video and review! New subscriber. 👍🏻
As always, great playing! I guess you are going to become a doctor or lawyer sometime soon lol. In all seriousness awesome looking and sounding guitar. I sometimes have regrets on selling my Custom 22 many moons ago. It was always a joy to play but life happens.
@@BuddyBlues I ended up going with a 594 double cut hollow body II! Sounds beautiful and plays like a dream. Picking her up tomorrow as I’m having them put on some phase III locking tuners.
That is a SWEET guitar! I’m chasing that early Les Paul tone, and this model really seems to nail a Tone that’s really close? And, certainly closer out of the box than the equivalently priced Gibson. Also, it does more...buy cheap, buy twice, or three times(?)!
Gibson standard is cheaper. Just get that if you want the fat les paul sound. This doesn't quite do that. No other brand quite does that Gibson les paul fat vintage tone like gibson does, mainly due to the pickups. This guitar has the characteristic, just not the fatness. I would pick this guitar though, much more versitile, and much easier to play, also much less fragile. It wold be interesting to put gibson humbuckers in a prs though. Ima google that now.
This is my dream guitar and it's quite expensive (even the s2) but what is more important I don't feel like I earned the right to play such a fine instrument. Maybe in the next 5 years! This is the most tasteful play I've ever heard from YT/musicians.
I bought a 594 second hand about 2 years ago and it has become my #1 go to electric. Great tones from the pickups, great neck and playability. Mind you I still have a Pro 2 Strat with a solid rosewood neck that is awesome, but the 594 scale seems to suit me better.
Dude you are so right about them being addictive lol I bought one core custom 24 a while back and said "I just want one American made PRS thats it" here I am with 5 now lol. One being a wood library.
Liked and sub'd! Glad you liked my Modern Eagle V lol ;-) Who are your influences? I hear everything from Al di Meola to John Mayer to Eric Clapton. Quite a variety in your playing! I moved my 'daily drivers' from Eric Johnson and John Mayer sig Strat, Les Paul Custom, Ephiphone w/Floyd Rose, Custom Shop Tele (68 Journeyman in tangerine), and a few different models of Ibanez for shred stuff to all PRS. And in a Custom 24, a McCarty 594, and a Modern Eagle V, I basically consolidated about a dozen guitars into three. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next video!
Thanks so much! Right on the money with the influences. Growing up shen I was learning guitar, the first Crossroads concert came out. Obviously on it was Eric Clapton, John Mayer(new kid on the block at the time), Eric Johnson etc.. I learned a looot from that DVD. And yes.. that modern eagle has me in serious trouble. I had never heard of them but since you told me about them I'm about 14 video reviews deep on youtube
Your playing is exquisite. I need to get some of that funky percussive fingerstyle down. I'm new to the channel, have you played a silver sky? Got one last year and love it. I'm now thinking that since they nailed all a strat should be, I should check out their Les Paul take. Sounds like they nailed that too. Thanks for the great video.
I don't understand why people think PRS guitars are so expensive , if you keep your eye out you can find fantastic bargains in the SE range that are exactly the same as the CE but different pickups 👍
Blessed to own 2 . 594 Wood Library . PRS nailed it with this guitar. Versatile as well. Love my Les Paul's as well. 594 is more refined but really both work. Love the PRS HB II Piezso pickup. MODERN EAGLE V as well . Roll with them as well. PRS can stand with the other greats. Each guitar in my arsenal develop A life of its own. Love them for different reasons. But 594 has brought over alot of players for good reason.
Buddy, SAME...I have been a Gibson guy for many moons. A buddy of mine who owns 7 PRS’ convinced me to buy one. Bought the McCarty and now all my Gibson’s cringe when I pick up the PRS. It just feels right, plays right, sounds right, and well....the rest is history.
Sorry to break this to you mate but there's no "one and done" with PRS, it's a subscription service and you've got 6 to 8 weeks before you have to start looking for your next one! 😉😂😂🤣🤣
Prs has always been the Ferrari of guitars for me ,look at them play them and when no ones looking around,, smell them . like a. Cuban cigar .. And then I go to used guitars section , Buddy great tone. Man
PRS guitars are stunning. The S2 range is unbeatable. Strats, Teles, Les Paul etc all sound great, but none are as nice to play as PRS. They’re smooth as butter, and sound incredible. Get one.
A 👍👍 to you even though a couple months ago, you’d encourage me to get a Les Paul instead of a PRS S2 McCarthy 594. Haha 😂 still love your content Buddy!!!!!
I just watched your jam video, and saw you were playing a PRS. I noticed a note choked out, thats sort of my experience with PRS guitars. I have 60 + guitars, all the major brands and types, except PRS. I've Loved the look of them for many years and tried maybe 20 or more over the years. I just never found one I like the feel of. For the studio if you want only one guitar that does everything, have you looked into a Variax? I have three of those, they give you anything you might want and model everything else. Other than that you need a pile of guitars IMHO.. 8-)
I could get a variax... but that would defeat getting a pile of guitars haha. I have the action set really low on this one. The note choked because I suck, not because of the guitar
@@BuddyBlues Haha, yeah thats the best most honest excuse for getting a pile of guitars ever.. 8-) I used that one my wife the for my Variax's, so I didn't need more guitars because they did it all. And I got an aged R9 not long after, and maybe another 15 since... They are good and the models are pretty convincing. In a studio setting they would be very useful especially some of the acoustic and more exotic guitar models. Oh and you definitely Don't Suck at playing, I blame Pauls guitar.. ;-) Haha.
I'm about to buy a Chis Henderson sig for $1100. Has the three pickups, single cut, beautiful guitar. Anybody have an opinion on those? Thanks and really awesome playing, senior!
John Mayer said ......The 594 is the best new guitar I've played in years. It has a vintage heart and soul but without the technical limitations that usually come along with an old instrument. ....and that’s all folks!
Thanks for the video Buddy! Appropriate timing, I have recently been thinking about acquiring a PRS (my 1st). I want something with a bit more bite than the one you played; which of their USA-made guitars do you think would fit that mold? Thanks again.
Man… I‘ve been looking at S2 MCartys but a couple videos, especially this one and the one with you playing funk on this guitar has got me thinking to just go for a core. What color is this and is it a 10 top? I have a Silver Sky and feel like this would be a good juxtaposition for that guitar. Amazing playing btw.
Bought a 594 last year after playing guitar for 40 years. Never wanted a PRS and actually never played one until I tried the 594. Bought it immediately. It’s the most well made, balanced guitar I’ve ever played. And it stays in tune better than my tele. I play a fusion style guitar and it’s perfect for that. Its really in its own class, although everyone compares it to a Gibson. It’s different, very different. I also don’t get why people see these as ‘Lawyer Guitars’. Many Gibson’s and other are in the same price range and no one says a thing about those. A 4K small, custom shop guitar is cool but a 4K PRS isn’t? Odd...
I agree 100%. I did another gig last night with it. It just..fits. love this guitar more and more. Also gibson nit that Ling ago started charging bajillion dollars for historic R9s... I think the doctor lawyer engineer thing came about before that. Thanks for watching!!
I was very lucky. Two brazilian brothers were living at London and were about to come back to Brazil. One of them bought a new McCarty 594 Artist Package, didn't even play the guitar and asked the other, who was returning first to take the guitar with him. Things changed and the guy who bought the guitar decided he would stay in London. Then he asked his brother, already in Brazil, to sell the guitar. Guess who bought a brand new PRS, more than mint condition, for an amazing price? Hint, I'm brazilian and I'm telling this story.
I have the same axe but the hollow 2 model. I’ve been on the fence about the string tension being a little floppy with 10a The stop tail isn’t meant to be height adjustable so no easy fix. I bumped string gauge to 11s and it feels amazing. Same with my lp These guitars feel like they were made for 11s and those 11’s are +1 on toane
It would would extremely similar! It is the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. An even smaller nut width would be the DGT I'd look at those too. I have a video on the dgt
This is so relatable. I had the same experience with PRS a couple of weeks back. I would never have been seen dead with one. Now I am thinking of selling my VOS 64 special and getting one....Yikes, have a become a wanker? Is that what it is? Should I get a briefcase? Some loafers?

Thank you so much! And congrats!!
Great Demo. I love my 594 SC. Epic tones. With the right amp you almost don't need any other guitars.
Love your playing sir! Guitar ain't too bad either!
I always come back to this video. Sense of humor and a great guitar tone is a killer combination. After 1 year, having to choose between the PRS Mccarty 594 and the 60th anniversary Gibson Les Paul 1959, which one would you choose? I know, I shouldn’t ask this kind of question…
Thanks! Prs. Without a doubt
Lol
I own the S2 McCarty 594, it's great. I'll definitely buy a core/wood library one day.
Great playing
Thank you!
Stellar! I bought a PRS 594 single cut semi hollow. I have a bad back and can’t play Les Pauls anymore. This is a word library and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a cross between a Les Paul and a 335+ with the coil tabs you can do so much more. Couldn’t be happier!
Great guitar, but the guitarist is even better ! Congratulations from 🇫🇷
Merci! La guitarre m'aide beaucoup 🤣🤣

Me, a doctor, looking at her Epiphone Les Paul and an Alvarez parlor acoustic: “Shit. I need to get a PRS. My game is apparently weak.” 😂
But seriously. Great video and review! New subscriber. 👍🏻
Thanks so much doc! I'm an engineer so all we need now is a lawyer to chime in
My favorite PRS !!!
Thank 💜 You LOVE
Almost forgot the guitar after listening to your fantastic playing 👍
Thanks for listening!
Buen contenido Maestrooo!!!!
As always, great playing! I guess you are going to become a doctor or lawyer sometime soon lol. In all seriousness awesome looking and sounding guitar. I sometimes have regrets on selling my Custom 22 many moons ago. It was always a joy to play but life happens.
Change is good, from another 594 convert. Great playing.
I got one. And it’s the greatest guitar I’ve ever put my paws on!!
It’s amazing
I’m about to go check out an S2 594 double cut tomorrow morning. :)
I might come home with her if she feels nice.
They are incredible. I played one the other day and the neck is identical to mine
@@BuddyBlues I ended up going with a 594 double cut hollow body II! Sounds beautiful and plays like a dream. Picking her up tomorrow as I’m having them put on some phase III locking tuners.
It is in charcoal burst…
That is a SWEET guitar! I’m chasing that early Les Paul tone, and this model really seems to nail a Tone that’s really close? And, certainly closer out of the box than the equivalently priced Gibson.
Also, it does more...buy cheap, buy twice, or three times(?)!
haha yes! It does the vintage LP sound perfectly
Yep.. buy cheap, buy twice, and end up spending way more ...... or as a friend of mine used to say, 'I can't afford to buy cheap'.
Amazing brother.. Careful, PRS's are addictive. Lol. Play a dgt when you get a chance. Beautiful playing/tones ❤️
Dude you are so right about them being addictive lol I bought one core custom 24 a while back and said "I just want one American made PRS thats it" here I am with 5 now lol. One being a wood library.
I can totally understand your Here we are.
This amp and guitar combination is too good 👍
the amp sounds amazing!
Great stuff Buddy!
Beautiful tones
Thank you for watching!! I learned my finger percussive slap and pop etc from bass players!
I don't understand why people think PRS guitars are so expensive , if you keep your eye out you can find fantastic bargains in the SE range that are exactly the same as the CE but different pickups 👍
Great delivery haha
Blessed to own 2 .
594 Wood Library .
PRS nailed it with this guitar.
Versatile as well.
Love my Les Paul's as well.
594 is more refined but really both work.
Love the PRS HB II Piezso pickup.
MODERN EAGLE V as well .
Roll with them as well.
PRS can stand with the other greats.
Each guitar in my arsenal develop
A life of its own.
Love them for different reasons.
But 594 has brought over alot of players for good reason.
Awesome guitar bud you really can’t beat PRS quality I’ve just got a core 22 and love it your playing is of the scale.
Buddy,
SAME...I have been a Gibson guy for many moons. A buddy of mine who owns 7 PRS’ convinced me to buy one. Bought the McCarty and now all my Gibson’s cringe when I pick up the PRS. It just feels right, plays right, sounds right, and well....the rest is history.
Amazing playing!
I said the last video I watched would be it for the night, yet here we are…
🤣🤣
Sorry to break this to you mate but there's no "one and done" with PRS, it's a subscription service and you've got 6 to 8 weeks before you have to start looking for your next one! 😉😂😂🤣🤣
Oh dude I'm already on it. Wait for next week's video. 🤣🤣
@@BuddyBlues speaking from experience I can recommend a DGT
Lol I've been down that rabbit hole for a while and I ain't complaining lol got 5 so far
I’d like to update you on this comment that I now have 3 PRS guitars and that you were right.
@@BuddyBlues would you try a Sliver Sky? Also have a go one the PRS Special Semi Hollow dude
Prs has always been the Ferrari of guitars for me ,look at them play them and when no ones looking around,, smell them . like a. Cuban cigar .. And then I go to used guitars section
, Buddy great tone. Man
Hahaha thanks Mike!
Brilliant guitar, I wanted to by that guitar then decided I’m a pure blooded strat player.
Try the Prs dgt, that’s also a brilliant instrument.
Oh and you definitely Don't Suck at playing, I blame Pauls guitar.. ;-) Haha.
Sounds good 👍 you have great guitar skills......what amp are you using?
I'm about to buy a Chis Henderson sig for $1100. Has the three pickups, single cut, beautiful guitar. Anybody have an opinion on those? Thanks and really awesome playing, senior!
Buddy, PRS brings out the best in your playing. Love my PRS DGT Gold Top Core and Silver Sky Core.
Sounds fantastic!!! You play awesome!!! I have really enjoyed playing!!! Does this thing have a neck dive like Gibson SG for instance???
Thank you!! No, no neck dive at all thank goodness
excellent playing !
John Mayer said ......The 594 is the best new guitar I've played in years. It has a vintage heart and soul but without the technical limitations that usually come along with an old instrument.
....and that’s all folks!
Did he really say that? That's really awesome
@@BuddyBlues of course check it out , it was when Paul had send him a prototype ...and he was amazed

Thanks for the video Buddy! Appropriate timing, I have recently been thinking about acquiring a PRS (my 1st). I want something with a bit more bite than the one you played; which of their USA-made guitars do you think would fit that mold? Thanks again.
DGT!
Killer guitar my friend!
Fala mano, beleza?! Man you really got lucky that's an awesome story!!
Great Tones
What amp are you using? Greet playing man! Awesome tone!
Thanks! I’m using the Ceriatone Overtone special. A Dumble clone. There’s a video on my channel about it
I have the same axe but the hollow 2 model. I’ve been on the fence about the string tension being a little floppy with 10a
The stop tail isn’t meant to be height adjustable so no easy fix.
I bumped string gauge to 11s and it feels amazing. Same with my lp
These guitars feel like they were made for 11s and those 11’s are +1 on toane
Hey man, just came across your channel and love it! I have a es-335 because of the nut width works for my smaller hands. How are prs for that?
It would would extremely similar! It is the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. An even smaller nut width would be the DGT I'd look at those too. I have a video on the dgt
The 594 got me to sell my last Gibson and it was a very high end R9. PRS for the win.
This is so relatable. I had the same experience with PRS a couple of weeks back. I would never have been seen dead with one. Now I am thinking of selling my VOS 64 special and getting one....Yikes, have a become a wanker? Is that what it is? Should I get a briefcase? Some loafers?
TWEED BRIEFCASE
