  • This is the 2017 Nissan Qashqai and it is one of the best selling SUV in the market. Soon to go on sale in America as the Nissan Rogue Sport, we test the 1.6 litre 161bhp Tekna model. Is it still king of the hill?
Equipped with toys such as a touchscreen infotainment display, 19 inch alloy wheels, and heated leather seats, the Nissan Qashqai Tekna is ideal for long journeys. There is plenty of space for passengers and the boot offers 430 litres.
Costing from £18,795 the 2017 Nissan Qashqai is certainly one of the best in its class.

Whats the 19" wheels like? I'm thinking of upgrading in a 2016 model, but worry it'll ruin the drive. Rgs

Would be helpful to know what mpg you achieved on test- we all know not to believe manufacturer's figures otherwise good review - car is faultless then?

It's maybe not quite as engaging to drive as its predecessor, but generally speaking it deserves the success it has been experiencing.

La Tekna eccelle da molti punti di vista, ma agilità, compattezza e peso sono i suoi punti di forza: sullo stretto veloce non teme avversari........

I am looking at this car myself at the moment. What mpg did you achieve on this test please? Also I have read another customer review somewhere, that the 1.6 petrol version isn't very good at slower speeds. Meaning lots of gear changes approaching junctions when nearly at a stand still. I need a petrol as I only travel 6 miles to work, and mostly stop start. Wondering if the 1.2 is suitable or the 1.6. Look forward to your feedback. Thanks Arron

Hi. Sadly we don't track the MPG in detail on our road tests because the cars rarely do the same routes in the same condition .etc... However, I might be able to help when it comes to engines. If you are doing predominantly town driving, the 1.2 would be a good choice. The diesels are my pick for their torque, but again, if you are just doing short journeys around town you should go for the the smaller 1.2 and save some money on fuel. It is efficient and good performing. 1.6 petrol I found to be good also, but it sounds like the 1.2 might be best for you. As always, the best advise is to test drive and see what feels right for you.

1.5 2017 can do almost 500miles in one tank

The only "Rouge" Sport that will be on sale is a red one. Presumably you mean the Rogue!

Isn't it being restyled this year?

A facelift may come towards the end of the year. Nothing announced yet, could be early next year.

What's it like with an auto box? It was known to be a bit clunky. Efficient review.

We have yet to drive the Qashqai with the automatic option. That is something we may look at later this year.

john evans the auto is smooth and not clunky at all. A tad sticky the first few hundred miles but thereafter you barely notice the change. Fantastic on motorway too.

We are thinking of doing a comparison video if enough people want one.

Inside Lane A 3 way comparison between the Qashqai, Peugeot 3008 and Seat Ateca would be very interesting.

The VISIBILITY in this car is NOT better than in Accord! Yes, you can see far, but you can not see close. High belt line, hard to see above the hood.

+goldpilgrim Accord? Why mention Accord? It's not even in the same class of car.
