It’s a decade since Nissan took a huge gamble and pioneered a new car sector, the crossover SUV with the launch of the Qashqai.
Like the Qashqai, the sector has moved a long way in a short period of time as there are now 21 direct rivals for Nissan’s compact crossover.
Nissan’s gamble was to replace two traditional cars with one not so traditional vehicle. At the time, the new Qashqai replaced the Primera and Almera (although the Almera has since been resurrected as the Pulsar). A gamble that has been rewarded by the Qashqai selling more year on year since its launch and in 2016 it was the fifth best-selling car in the UK.
Over time, the Qashqai has turned from an ugly duckling into an elegant and classy five-door compact-SUV. Well, it was more hippo than duckling. It is now being pushed into a more premium sector.
This new model is the midlife facelift of the second-generation that was launched in 2014, however, it’s more than your usual facelift, in fact, it’s more of a second-generation 2.0.
There’s a familiar but new look to the front end, more technology, higher quality finish inside, improved performance and Nissan claims it’s more intuitive to use.

The range kicks off at £19,245, however, we’re testing the 1.6-litre DIG-T 163 petrol with a manual gearbox in range-topping Tekna + trim which costs £29,250.
Our model is finished in the optional Vivid Blue premium metallic paint costing £745. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

i will stick to Qashqai for more long years! it' s been proven..reliable, durable and comfortable..i bought my Qashqai as slightly used 6 yrs ago until now not even once i did not found any defect!!! even the battery is still working for 6 yrs!!!
No matter what you think of the qashqai it will sell in bucket loads and there has to be a reason for this possibly because it's design is inoffensive and will appeal to many people whereas others appear to be a bit too flashy and brash and for this reason i think the main danger to the qashqai is going to be the skoda karog which is brilliantly inoffensive
Great Video Review. I like the Updated Nissan Qashqai particularly the New Leather Seats In the Tekna + Model you Road Tested. Also where was the Location for the Review
Jamie Pickles many thanks. A combination of Cotswolds, Wales and East Sussex. We get around.
This is a really useful review! Thanks! I was thinking of upgrading my 2015 Renault megane, which is a lovely car, but doesn’t deal with the country lanes and bumps very well. I loved the look of the 2017 Quashqai but not so keen now your review mentions how bumpy the suspension feels
I've got nconnecta 2018 1.5 dci 65mpg all day long, I think it handles great especially in the wet the trace control works brilliantly trail breaking the inside wheels round roundabouts floor it and turn it just grips quite surprising really, I'm wondering if it was turned off on your test drive model ?, I love mine it's great can't really fault it to much I wouldn't buy the petrol version's.
Great review, will you be reviewing the mokka x? I'm between this and the mokka to buy, thanks.
andy thomas many thanks. Mokka X review will be live in mid-September.
Would recommend the Peugeot 3008 and SEAT Ateca over both.
Weird Hippo fixation !
Nigel Old & Grey the secrets out. Just don't tell the Mrs.
Best color in your opinion? I am between White, Gun metal, and Vivid blue, my trim is N-Connecta
I've just picked gun metal for mine mate, makes it look smart
Couple of weeks ago i tested a C Class diesel estate auto rrp 32k and your Renalt was 30k....seems a little odd ?
Robert Lloyd agreed. Prices seem to be all over the place at the moment (generally). This was in top of the line trim, though.
Other canned drinks are available
