The last part, where you said: "You're missing the point." BINGO! 🙂 If you understand Lexus' V8 ethos, then you'll love this engine in any model. Thanks for posting!
Why? If you say because of the N/A V8 then I agree with you but if you say because of reliability then I disagree because reliability doesn’t matter on a new car
Great review, as always Tom. Your channel is really developing and your practical local insights are always welcome. I also appreciate the fact that you don’t have the typical exclusively pro-German car bias displayed by others, who seem to not be able to resist the lure of the sponsorship dollars from such brands. Your channel should have many more subscribers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, I appreciate it. As for where the car comes from - I just try to never prejudge any outcome. Doesn’t matter where it’s made. What matters is whether the specific model on test is built well, drives well, is easy to use and is good value for money when contrasted against its segment. 👍🏼
Interior hasn't changed at all since MY18 (aside from colours and different carbon options). The bigger screen came along back then too. It is aging a little, but even at that, I find the combination of digital and analog dials a really good mix and far better than staring at a huge piano black monitor panel extending across the dash (ie, Mercedes). The boot is a pretty good size considering what the car is, but it's worth noting the back seats don't have a split feature and only have a small ski port. But the best feature? That motor. It's like unleashing hell when you give it the berries and revs its head off. Endless fun when you've got the opportunity to use it.
@@chasingcars Just a quick aside, Lexus are now offering retrofit Android Auto/Apple Carplay to RCF owners with the compatible system. Available on newer than November 2017 models... cost is $250.
Nice review. The rear seat legroom wouldnt be bad if you set the front seat more forward and angle up the seat AND you’re under 5-8” You had the seat as far back as possible and angled to far back too.
Lexus chose a normal Torque Converter for Reliability and Longevity reasons...The RCF rivals with their double clutch quick shifters only gain fractions of seconds..over the Torque Converter box
Decent review. Too bad Australia does not get this engine anymore. In US 2025 will be the last model for the 2UR-GSE. I wonder why this car did not have TVD esp when it got the optional Carbon Ceramic brakes, in US that is only exclusive for TE. Sadly Lexus cut off TVD from 2023 onwards and other features of this RC F, like bracing in engine bay, driver memory, auto tilt mirrors etc. This car will outlast any M car and any AMG, those engines won't even last beyond 60K without a hole in the wallet. RCFs still running. I wish I can get one soon and swap my IS 500. RC F is far more planted and solid than my IS 500 and F tuning is amazing on the RC F as well. Chassis is also very solid.
@@chasingcars OMG let's that happen. There are rumours that new IS F will be made with collaboration with BMW. I hope not, I mean new Supra is a nice car but it will be nice to have true japanese option on the market. Sorry for my English, it is not my native language. :D
@@mikehead2236 there is no collab with bmw on a new ISF and there will be no ISF for now. Even the LCF has been delayed until 2023. Lexus is busy with the LC Convertible and UX Plug In just debuted.
That's a real ouch moment with the $29000 option pack. I am guessing that a couple of overnight bags in the boot when you and a "special" friend go away for the weekend is all you will really need to put in there.
It’s a yuge figure for an option pack, agreed, but the carbon ceramic stoppers are just devastatingly effective, and the other stuff is good too. Yes, those back seats don’t really fit humans so you and a special friend will be about the limit...
Parishrut Pandey LC has higher quality interior and options, superb looks and sounds better. With this engine, if I had to choose apart from LC, I’d get the GSF over this one.
Parishrut Pandey I think the GSF is slightly more expensive than the RCF and the LC with the performance package is around $25,000 more. But I see what you mean in terms of speed and performance, they’re all the same.
The previous looks more aggressive. The front fascia is normal looking like an Altima the ducks are too square instead of triangular like the previous. It just blend in with the Nissan too much I love my 2015 way better
jiadong shi - Yup, that was clever. It actually made me think about it because I had a tough go of it in the first couple weeks of weeks having to use it. I wished it was a touch screen but that was almost 2 years ago and today it’s just as natural as anything else, or is it really.... :)
In today's episode, Tom takes Lexus's very own muscle car, the RC F, out for a fast blast.
The previous rcf was awful in handling
Not awful, but a bit average. Substantial improvements have been made for this mid-life update, which I detail in the video.

Always loved the RCF & now it’s even better since the facelift. I’d have one of these over the Germans in a second. And that V8 😍

The facelift did this car really well. Love that V8, can't complain. I'm looking at y'all Mercedes, Audi and BMW!
Agreed, Brian.
It’s a beautiful car, inside and out.

Good pickup on the interior, Neil, though Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now being included - a change that happened after we filmed this video.

Love that Cobalt colour.
Now that the c63 is a hybrid and the BMW M4 looks a little bit ugly I think the rcf is best one just for its engine
