I love this blanket it's absolutely beautiful and I want to make it but I'm very confused to tying the black do you have another video that shows better how to tie off this blanket or where to tie the blanket I should say just a bit confused
its really lovely and nice but i understand the fact...practice makes perfect...so i'll keep on practicing to get a perfect blanket...thanks for sharing tHis..
Oh fab I wish her well xx and could you post a pic of your blanket on my craft group just type into facebook search the word Craftytwunts and click join this is my craft group and all crafters are welcome and I love to see what others are making xx
add your link to your selling page Jilly please here in the comments. Some say it's not working. There was a glitch the other day hopefully an extra link will help.
how lovely! im doing a fraim for myself right now and this is apsolutely what i am going to try first! though only onesided >_< if it turns out nice im going to put it on the wall.
the looms these are done on are very same technique but nails are used instead of cardboard. No I have never used the hardboard or plastic butterfly looms.
These looms are great and I feel I worked quicker on it. But beware tension as when I used my normal tension just as I got to the final round one of the centre pegs bent and broke. My husband just drilled it out and replaced broken one with a plastic peg from another source that was same size and width have just checked broken peg and David thinks there was a flaw deep in the wood totally undetectable. Am not writing to post a complaint but to tell you that if accident happens you can replace peg as one person I know threw one away when similar accident happened. It would be handy if each board came with couple of spare pegs. But you can replace any accidental breaks I NEED TO ADD TO THIS COMMENT AND I APOLOGISE FOR NOT DOING SO SOONER. I WASNT TOO BOTHERED ABOUT CONTACTING ROSE AS DAVID HAD SORTED IT SO I COULD STILL CONTINUE TO USE LOOM BUT AFTERWARDS I DECIDED I WOULD HER RESPONSE WAS AMAZING I CONTACTED HER MID AFTERNOON AND INFORMED HER OF FACT PEG HAD SPLIT BUT TOLD HER MY HUSBAND RECKONED THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULT IN THE WOOD AND NOT THE DESIGN OF LOOM. SHE CONTACTED ME IN MOMENTS TELLING ME SHE WAS SORRY AND WOULD SEND ME OUT SOME REPLACEMENT DOWELS FREE OF CHARGE. I NEVER EXPECTED THAT AND WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY TO PAY FOR SOME. NEXT MORNING I RECEIVED A SMALL PACKAGE CONTAINING 6 REPLACEMENTS. I HONESTLY DONT KNOW WHEN I LAST EXPERIENCED THIS LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE OR AFTER SALE SUPPORT AND I HAVE NO HESITATION IN RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. IM SORRY BOTH ROSE AND ALISON THAT I HAVE NOT POSTED THIS ADD ON TO MY COMMENT BEFORE NOW MAREE
I will pass that on to Gill, Maree especially if that is where you got the loom from. I am sure they will be pleased to add a few extra dowels just in case of any problems. This is a new idea to use this type for pom pom blankets and any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel Sorry Allison I thought I had added to my comment last week. I did contact Rose and she posted me out six replacement dowels free of charge and not only that but I received them THE VERY NEXT DAY. I was delighted at this response and have been telling all my friends in two craft groups I go to about the quality of these looms and how much easier I've found these than nails. I am speaking at a woman's meeting in my church ( The Salvation Army) next week and as it is also a crafting session I plan on taking the loom in to show them and will be passing on her contact details as I know that one friend and my own daughter are interested in buying, I have no hesitation in promoting both the loom and the sellers as I can't recall the last time I encountered such amazing after sales service. Oh and by the way it took 5 mins to remove the damaged dowel and replace it with new one
I just discovered your channel, and this type of weaving, and I am absolutely in love with these geometric designs. They're balanced, and soothing, and beautiful. Are there other geometric designs? Have you written a book about any other designs that I could purchase? Specifically the geometric pattern ring... Also pram blankets are not an American tradition at all. I have never heard of this. Ae there any books on this type of weaving that you would recommend? Thank you for teaching this, and I just bought the nails and a frame for my first Loom today. You've inspired me!
Sorry, I don't have a book or patterns for these if you join my Facebook group Craftytwunts art and crafts there are a lot of blanket topper makers there. and more who design them. Make sure your loom had odd down 2 sides and even number of nails down the longer sides.
Could someone please help me with ties off my blanket on large loom it is 3d flower one I have tried but not sure if right and untied all again so back to wool on loom done thanks ps sorry about spelling
Hi when tying the black did you tie it both ways with a cross in middle as I was concerned the edges double tied twice would be quite lumpy I hope this makes sense x
Sorry I really don't understand how this blanket goes from.....well at 20.17 it looks like there are lots of gaps then at about 20.19 it looks like a blanket without any gaps. I can't explain what I mean. When you remove it from the frame does it make it all come together It just seems to have a lot of spaces one minute, you can see through it, then they are gone.. This is really a beautiful piece of work. Again sorry to sound so stupid
When it is on the loom it is stretched. You are right when it comes off it relaxes and all the gaps filled in. They don't always fill in completely but it all puffs up and that's why they look so different once it is cut off the loom frame.
Thank you Alison for your reply. I thought that may have been the case. Spent yesterday afternoon watching more of your videos, your talent is truly inspiring and amazing
Once you have made a few its easier to understand. I'm rubbish at written words but I will try. I turned my frame upside down and tied from the side with no pegs. I tied each diagonal separately. I did the lilac 1st with lilac wool. I then changed the colour on my shuttle to black wool and tied the black X in both diagonal directions. If you need any help I have lots of lovely ladies and myself who can help. You will find us on our free facebook craft group Craftytwunts
this is the reversible one so the base is 5 diagonals on every other peg then the centre is laid down this keeps the blanket hold its shape (diagonals can pull it out of shape) then the top diagonals are done I didnt count the ladders between the pegs as some had more where the diagonals were. Its not a thick blanket as the diagonals are done on alternating pags and in all it stays light due to the spaces between the diagonal puffy flowers.
sorry Pamela, this is the puffy 3d so you need more rounds to make the white flower part stand out. Sorry about the mix up. The base is 5 diagonal rounds the middle is 2 rounds and the top is 5 rounds only diagonals every other peg. you can add a few more rounds if you want big ger florets on.
What do you mean by doing 5 rounds? I see that you do the whole board twice then change to go the other way. I'm a little confused. I have a baby shower in two weeks and I really would like to make one of these.
One round is from the nail you tie your wool or yarn too, work all around the frame and back to that nail you tied your wool yarn too. On this blanket, it has 3 layers the bottom diagonal layers. The black middle layers then the top diagonal layer, So the diagonal pattern is done in a diagonal. and will be 5 times from the nail you tie your wool to and back. 5 times.
yes, lemon and white are stunning. If you join my free craft group on facebook just type into the search Craftytwunts and you will find us You can ask other blanket makers to show you the ones they have done and all are stunning. It is a very friendly group and never any drama or arguments. It has over 16,000 members from all over the world
I still a little confused on how you made them and how to made that long wood you used I will love to know where u buy It..... Those are some beautiful and stunning blankets will love one for my daughter
You can make it as big as you would need it but be aware at some point the big blankets will need to be washed and wool is 10 times heavier when wet so be aware if you use a small domestic washing machine. A big frame will work definitely. You will need an enormous amount of wool too. Have you thought of making a bed runner? about 13 nails wide and as long as you need it to be but have an even number of nails on the long sides.
17 nails x 22 nails. Nails at one and half inch apart. I have a tutorial on how to make a loom frame. pom pom blanket part1 If you want to make the ones with the turnover top then add an extra nails to the even long sides. say 17 x 26 nails.
HELP LOL... I love the design of this blanket but when it comes to tying it I got confused do you have another video showing how to tie the blanket really confusing when it comes to the black
You can either make one I have a video on my channel on how to make them with wood and nails or you can but them from amazon and eBay. Pom pom blanket loom frames.
Rose Hill find her in my Facebook craft group "Craftytwunts" or look in the top comments she should have a link to her selling page there. Well worth it such great quality and fantastic customer service too.
th-cam.com/video/PWzSiMVankc/w-d-xo.html&vl=en-GB here is how to make your own frame you can make it any size you wish. The wooden peg one on this tutorial to buy it the link is in the description box under the video.
This is a demonstration size. I don't sell mine I couldn't keep up with the orders due to my arthritis. So I show others how to make them and I just do demonstration sizes. I give those away to my elderly neighbours for their small pets to sleep on.
Have a look on my channel at a tutorial called pom pom blanket part 1 this shows how to make the loom frame you can make it any size you like. It is batons of wood and long nails with a few metal corner brackets and that's it. If you are not handy with DIY you could ask a family member to help you if they can or buy one from Rose Hill she is in my craft group on facebook Craftytwunts.

Hi...can you tell me the dimensions of your loom and the dimensions of the blanket it creates?
could you use as kitchen rug?
Yes if you add non-slip matting under it. You must add a non-slip mesh to the back so you don't slip and fall.
I just discovered your channel, and this type of weaving, and I am absolutely in love with these geometric designs. They're balanced, and soothing, and beautiful. Are there other geometric designs? you tie every X section all around your work then cut it off the nails
Do you sell instructions
no the videos are free so you can watch it and work along at the same time.
классно очень красиво
thank you
I want to see and learn how to shuttle this particular blanket please. I can not see any tutorial for it
Most of the blankets tell you how to shuttle tie them, look near the end of the videos.
Alison, is there a video how you tied up all the 3 colours together Please
they are all tied the same at the X point of each section.
Are all 3 colours tied separately and not together at all?
Hi when tying the black did you tie it both ways with a cross in middle as I was concerned the edges double tied twice would be quite lumpy I hope this makes sense x
yes I tie in a X and yes definitely tie twice around the edge I don't find it lumpy but better an extra knot than strands coming loose too easily.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel thank you x

Can you show us a triangular Pom Pom blanket
I don't have a triangular loom. You could do it on the ones I use and just cut down the middle corner to corner but the fringe may fall apart.
.This is beautiful however, I was lost when you talked about tieing
Once you have made a few its easier to understand. I'm rubbish at written words but I will try. I turned my frame upside down and tied from the side with no pegs. I tied each diagonal separately. Hi do you tie these blankets off the same way as you do the pompom version,do you tie each colour separately
yes, tie the same way as the pom pom.
hi Alison is it 5 rounds on bottom each way with 4 strands of wool?how many ladders between each nail as seems really thick on bottom layer!
this is the reversible one so the base is 5 diagonals on every other peg then the centre is laid down this keeps the blanket hold its shape (diagonals can pull it out of shape) then the top diagonals are done I didnt count the ladders between the pegs as some had more where the diagonals were.
