This is my first TW and Warhammer game, so I’ve been struggling to actually manage the battlespace. Great guide, very happy to see not just some strategies I can instantly put to use but also the explanations as to the “how’s and why’s” that other guides skip over that’ll help me start to get away from relying on autoresolve
Great guide - stumbled and didn't make the same pace on VH/VH (no AI stats), only managed to eke a valiant defeat against greenskins and had to beat them next turn with nearly destroyed units, and lost helstorms in first fight against Vlad, but Sylvania was still destroyed by Turn 17. Everything afterwards has been incredibly smooth sailing. Thanks for helping me move finally move up to VH/VH after 300 hours of playing.
I absolutely love Elspy, shes probably my favorite faction. When she gets her dragon, her regen, and her buffs/spells she can throw down with some of the toughest lords in the game. My last campaign i had her 1v1 archeon for lols. She took a bunch of damage but whooped his ass.
i like that you show setup for early armys been really trying alot of the powder based armys cause i like alot of there looks and that helps alot thanks
Outriders can fire while moving, but dont have the 360 arc of pistoliers. I absolutely love them and usually put two of the handgun and 2 of the grenadiers in each army. Speaking of which i usually get the "riders of the empire" research as soon as i can because the bordermen are so damn good. Really handy because the AI likes to do that annoying thing of hiding a unit ontop of the gatehouse to try to waste your ammo. If you keep them in pairs they can restock each others ammo. They get benefits from 2 seperate research trees + the gunnery school and with some experience under their belt they can actually kinda fight if they get caught by dogs/bats/light cav
A bit late to this, but some other options are taking the Skaven near Pfieldorf on turn 5 (good for schematics) but may want to scout as it's possible they're wiped out. Military annexation of Averheim after defeating Black Venom is another good option for schematics. I usually take the pistolier upgrade first for the extra speed, which is handy for early game kiting. All the options are pretty good at that stage though!
Thanks Victor, glad you liked it! I may do some campaigns in the future, as I did a lot of let's plays back in the WH2 days. It's just that WH3 was so disappointing that I played it a lot less. Now though the game has improved massively, so I'm playing it more and more and so may decide to upload some.
Theres something weird about anytime you fight bats with a single entity in yhe air. I think the splash damage doesnt work properly and you only hit one at a time
Wasn't there a with hunter who tried to question her about being a vampire and he had an accident and fell down the steps of her tower? Also if you were going to be fighting Vlad anyway - why not look which faction he is at war with and ask for money to declare war?
Hello, for some reason Vlad has a lot more flying creatures, I just can’t catch him in an ambush or defeat him in any other way. Is it just me that Vlad spawned with a bunch of bat dogs or is this fixed?
My trick in such cases is to get my pistoliers a little closer with fire at will turned off and shoot a couple of units with each unit of pistoliers. That usually causes more than one unit of enemies to pursue each unit of pistoliers. I then turn on fire-at-will and manually guide the enemy toward my firing line, so we can take them out early.
Because of their high and scattered firing arc you're better off using the Helstorms to lob shots over the top. It's the cannons that you would want to shoot through gaps with.
How come you never seem to get an early investment in the red skill line? that passive troop exp is real nice, especially as you're good at keeping your troops alive.
It depends on a lot of things, like faction, lord, potential enemies, etc. In the case of Elspeth her magic is so powerful that it's a must to get that levelled to full potential straight away. Same for Gelt. Meanwhile for Karl Franz the red line is a priority, because you don't know what kind of caster you're going to get and you're facing quite spammy enemies who field a lot of stacks.
Been trying to follow this, but the problem is my Elspeth is just behind yours when it comes to leveling. This should not be an issue but when it is turn 6 and fighting the goblins I don’t get purple sun as I am just below. By turn 4 I am behind levels as you get to 8 after killing Gobspit but I am just below at 7 still. I have retried like 4-5 times overall and fought the same battles way too many times. Is it because I am on a lower difficulty?
Could be because of the difficulty. Could also be that you're doing a bit less damage with her than I do and it's reducing her experience gain. To deal with that big Goblin fight I would recommend using Spirit Leech on the single entities, as they're a distraction from the main army and getting rid of them ASAP will free up more guns and bows. You can also use SL against units of Goblins, as they are weak. Try to kite units from the first army into attacking early, so you can get rid of them soon. Once the big blob is in range, aim all artillery at that, for maximal damage. Also use Soulblight on it, as you'll strip massive amounts of armour and make the range more dangerous with each hit. I've actually completed that battle without using any magic, just as a test. Good luck with it and let me know how you get on.
@@WarmasterMoloch Thank you for the advice, having a smaller channel allows for this kind of interaction which is super awesome. Going to try and do some battles again and I will let you know if it goes well.
After some testing my guess is that since the enemy factions have more recruitment on higher difficulty, it changes the xp slightly at first but eventually with more units to deal damage to, you level faster. I even got more xp then you at first and still fell behind after the first siege, but I think thats around where the campaigns split in terms of what units we face, since you face more then I do for sure.
I love the way you use an all out shooting army. But I’ve been trying to copy you. I play easy mode and still I lose 10 out of 10 battles against full stacked enemies. Is there any videos with instructions on how to do it so I can learn it better. My missile units gets swamped everytime and can’t shoot the generals while fighting for their lives.
I haven't done any videos about it myself, but some basic tactics that I use run roughly like this: Flank Guarding: Put your army with at least one flank against an obstruction, so that you prevent double envelopments and only have to concentrate on guarding the other flank. If you can block both then so much the better. Bear in mind that the sides and corners of the map can be used in this way too. If you can't set up next to a good obstruction straight away, position your army so that you can move to such a position as soon as the battle starts. Single Entity Screening: Using heroes and generals to act as a small melee line that allows for maximum firepower against the enemy, by bogging down multiple units to create a target blob. Demi-checkerboard: Basically For the front line, every second unit is further forward, so you effectively split it in two. That way if an enemy reaches your line then the deeper units from your front line will still be able to fire, as well as your second line. Best deployed with guns to the front and archers/crossbows in the second line (to lob shots over the front line). Full Checkerboard: This is for when you believe that your front line could fall, so you also checkerboard the second line, in case that gets reached too. Kiting: I use fast units (so in this video pistoliers, but also generals and heroes once mounted) to lure the enemy's fastest units to my line ahead of the rest of their army, so that they get taken out sooner and when the main battle is joined I do not have quite as much mass coming at me. Focused Fire (Ranged Infantry): Pick out the most dangerous targets, like generals, heroes, spellcasters and monsters as soon as they come into range, as they hold a massive amount of the enemy's balance of power and damage potential. Focused Fire (Artillery): Look for blobs of infantry so that you can hit multiple units with your artillery shots as the enemy approaches. If you have magic too, you should generally look for the same if you have vortex or wind spells available. There are other, more complicated things that you can employ, but these are the things that I use all the time.
My pleasure, mate. Glad I was able to help! Be sure to look on the key seller sites before you buy direct from Steam, as there are big savings to be had from those!

Very informative, subbed and liked mate.
Thanks! Great to have you aboard.

That sounds like something that a vampire would say...
excellent! Can't wait to attempt to emulate your successes

I can never seem to get enough schematics after the first battle to unlock anything in the gunnery school
It's possible they may have tweaked some things since I made this one. I'll take a look at some point.
No matter how I position my hellstorm, I can’t hit any troops through the wall breach

You should play on large or ultra unit size, not default small size units
Don't forget to turn your troops fire at will and the shoot them even if close option so they don't constantly run away
Elspeth can't recruit bowman anymore snif :(
She can, but you need the Hunter and the Beast DLC.
