I lived in Cork for about a year to study English and I really wanted to stay longer, but I had to come back to my home country cos of this weird situation. I miss this beautiful city so much and this video reminds me of those beautiful days in Cork! I really appreciate it :) Hope I can get back there soon

Cork is a beautiful City, steeped in history and furnished with wonderful architecture and is a really clean City. I love visiting as the Cork People are warm and very welcoming People with a great sense of light Hearted humor and Craic. My one wish is it doesn’t grow too large as Cork is perfect.

Fell in love here when I was on an internship. Three years later I got married and got two boys we gave them Irish names, Quinn and Kian (They wrote his name different there but we don't want him to spell his name all the time in the Netherlands this isn't a populair name). Brings back many memories hope we can come back soon. Thanks for making this. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Love this. Thanks a million for filming Rory Gallagher's memorial. It's the best reason I can find to visit Cork as many times as possible, just to get to step on the places he'd been or related to his stories.

Amazing really, the first time I heard about Cork was in 1981. I learned about the city during a conversation with Rory Gallagher. He told me he was from there... From that moment onwards I fell in love. Both Rory and his brother, Donal were passionate about Cork. At the time, soon after the last concert tour date, they told me they were heading home for Christmas.

looks like its become more modernised. That's fine as long as the beautiful building are kept up so they continue to stand for another 300yrs or more will be awesome. No matter how modern a city gets, don't ever let any people try to erase the beauty an heritage of a city. No matter what part of the world the cities in. Especially in places that has thousands or hundreds of years of history such as Ireland

TL;DR Day time is fine and there are places to see if you love scenery or architecture. Night life is appalling and can be dangerous if you are not careful. At night there is nothing for you to do if you do not like pubs or clubs as those are the only places that are open.
Unless you really really like old building, architecture and pubs no point coming to Cork city... As the video has shown the whole city center can be seen within few hours. During the day people are nice and polite however, at night its like a completely different set of people come out. Night time is very messy and quite a few aggressive people come out. Avoid groups of teenagers as they tend to fight for simple reasons such as "this guy looked at me/ this guy looked at my girlfriend/ he brushed against me as he was trying to squeeze through.". If a fight breaks out between you and someone else do not expect a fair fight as you will be attacked by multiple people from that group especially if you are by yourself. For women its dangerous if you are on your own as there are many homeless (junkies) who roam around at night. One guy specifically is notorious for mugging women who are alone on the street. Do not get drunk to the point where you do not comprehend what is happening around you as bad things tend to happen (I really do not want to get into details as it is disgusting the things some people do). However, Limerick and Dublin are even worse when it come to night life so be vigilant.
Irish people tend to stick to their own groups. If you come to Ireland expecting to get some Irish friends you have a mission on your hands. I have met multiple foreigners who have told me the same thing. "It's so hard to become friends with Irish people." Unless you know them from secondary school or college you will find a hard time becoming a real friend. I lived here 16 years and I have one Irish friend and even then he tends to exclude me from his inner circle of friends that he has known for a long time. So do not be surprised if you come here and you have friends from all over the world but not Ireland :D
But all that said If scenery is your thing by all means there are many places to go and see. Cobh is beautiful, Youghal is great, Killarney, Dingle, Crosshaven just to name a few. Just please be careful at night. And remember avoid big groups of people especially if they are drunk.
Before I get attacked as a liar I lived here for 16 years since I was 8 years old. I work security in the city and I see and know more what is happening around the city then most people.

@@LeMerch with all due respect i have lived here all my life. I can see the difference between when my friends and myself went out at night and nowadays. And i can tell you cork city is now a no go area at night. There were a lot of cinemas in the city centre and a lot of sports bars and nice resteraunts where u could go afterwards for a bite to eat. You would see a lot of older people strolling around at night now you dont. I have collected my son from town on many occassions and the sight of young drunk kids lying on pavements or drugged up young men walking like zombies is awfull. As for other cities in the world i have walked in Soho on London at midnight on my own and did not feel afraid. I can tell you i would not walk down oliver plunkett st at night and i would tell anyone else not to! Im not putting my city down by the way.i love Cork and people in general are warm and friendly but there is an element that have ruined it for decent people. Anyway glad you like our city!

@@lesley4898 you don't need to be scared. Just need to be careful and hang out with friends. If you are drinking stick with people you trust and don't take strangers on their offers to go somewhere by yourself. Avoid large groups of drunks as that's when things get bad. And avoid streets that have no people or are poorly lit. You will be safe if you use common sense and instincts.

I sure hope to return to Cork to show more of the Northside. I'll see if I find that figure near the Cathedral next time. Thanks for watching!

wow it was very strange city tour for me because all buildings belong to early 1900s maybe even 1800s. I watched the complete video. thanks for sharing. it's very calm city. I like the city.

It's actually a DJI Osmo Pocket. The audio is from a Zoom H1 mic. I'm fairly happy with this setup though pans could be smoother

Most of Ireland excluding Dublin is pretty basic but cork city is the exception it's the jewel in the crown it's a place where anybody could live happily. ....

Such a great city and a really lovely video. Unfortunately the city and county are being badly let down by inept Councils and an inadequate public transport system.

    What a difference a year make's 2019 to 2020
It's like a horror movie looking true the innocent eye's of the past when times were good and now it's like an post - apocalyptic time's were you don't have a life of your own were an old man sitting in a pub keeping one eye on his clock and the other eye in too emptiness unsure of what to come of it.
