Pleased you enjoyed it MA, yes we love the little back streets, it's where the life often is away from the chain shops. Hope all's well with you, all the best.
LOVED this walking tour! Thank you for the video! My husband and I were in Cork in 2012 for a short night's stay (we were on a 10-day tour of Ireland's southern/western coast) and visited the English Market and dined at Market Lane (delish!), but clearly there is MUCH more to see. Hope to get back soon!
Hello there @SuzanneSt.Pierre-mm1bo, what a pleasure to receive your nice message. Very pleased to bring a little of it back to your door. I have a narrated one here too if you ever fancy it. Hope you get that visit soon!
This is the town my paternal family is from originally up until the year 1873. By then they packed their bags, got on board a ship and eventually settled in Delaware County Iowa. Moved to Austin Minnesota in 1921, then finally moved here to Vancouver Washington in 1955. And we’ve been here ever since.
Thanks for dropping by with your story friend, a pleasure to hear from you. We're pleased to bring a little of your family home back to you. All the very best.
😊🇮🇪 As a 55 year old Corkman born and bred if you're visiting Cork the only English you need to start off with are....." Alright Boy" or Alright Girl which means hello 👋 and "Sound" which mean Thanks and if someone calls you a "Fecking Langer" in conversation they really mean it in a nice way. 😅😅
Thank you! Especially thank you for not making a nauseating self centered video where you are following a person talking and showing his/her face constantly. It’s truly a walking tour. Our last visit skipped cork for Waterford and the crystal shop there. Sadly. Have not been to cork again since 2000 due to that tour change last March. Ugh.
Hi there Justin, ha ha well your most welcome and thanks for taking the time to drop by. Hope that visit to Cork happens for you someday after your tour change. All the best to you.
Going to visit Cork soon for my first visit to Ireland. Thanks for showing around the city center. What are the nicest streets in the city center? Thanks
Hi Phil - good to hear it. Hope you enjoy it. To be honest, the city centre is bounded by the River Lee on the North and the South, and its only a 5 -10 minute walk from one side to the other, so you can't go wrong by just wandering around. But Carey's Lane, French Church Street in the centre, and MacCurtain Street just across St Patrick's Bridge are popular places to have a drink and bite to eat...
Hi there @lotjasmine, so pleased you enjoyed it. Regarding the song, I'm not too sure as it was just playing in the street. Hope to bring you many more. Thanks for dropping by.
Hello there MK, well weather wise you'd have to say changeable. Just think all seasons in a day, but certainly beginning to warm up and Spring should be in the air. Hope you have a great time.
Thanks for taking the time to drop by, quite so, it’s good to bring a little bit of this lovely place to your door. All the best to you and Happy new year.
@@LivingWalks Thanks for the video, I was brought up in Cork from 88,to 94 I haven't been back for a long time, planning a visit this year for a week or so, looking forward to it.
Such a nice walk, you can really feel the city! I started my own channel of mostly ambiance videos recorded in 3D audio and I would it would be great to hear your feedback 🙏
We certainly wish you the very best of luck with your new channel, it's not an easy time to get started on youtube but I'd say just persevere, be consistent and keep them coming! All the best to you.
Reminds me of walking through an American mall. Except graffiti is washed off the walls before people who pay to go there see it. I'm going here next August, now I'm rethinking. This is just stores and restaurants with Irish accents.
I'm sure you'll find the people and the atmosphere will make your trip a good one @mikes6961 and when you're there you'll find it to be very unlike an American mall. Hope you do enjoy it!
City streets - any city - are very different from any "mall". Cities do tend to have shops and restaurants (pubs too...) - that’s what makes them different from the countryside. In Cork there are two elegant streets called, respectively, North Mall and South Mall. But they don’t have any shops... And in Ireland what you call a "mall" is known as a "shopping centre". In Cork you will hear many languages on the streets. French in particular strikes me. So enjoy your holiday. There’s plenty of "country" and "sea" near Cork if that’s what you prefer. 🔴⚪👍
The men and boys who sell the local paper on the streets are called the "Echo boys" and they have a distinct call. It goes like this: "Echo! Evening Echo" repeated over and over. They are a famous feature of the city and are very much treasured by the people of Cork.
How much encroachment of the pavements will pedestrians allow by the shops? Some streets are 50% taken by seats pickpockets & other crims must love it! Pedestrian areas should be that, so that alleys & walkways feel safe & cosmopolitan.
Hi Russell, I take your point that walkways are precious things. I have to say though that I felt safe and relaxed both in the day and evening. Hope you get to visit and enjoy Cork someday, I'm sure you'll enjoy the atmosphere. All the best to you.
@@LivingWalks I lived in Cork City a few years back & witnessed pickpocketing in a crowd, being 6 foot 2 & healthy then i managed to "stop" the robbery which makes me aware of squashing ppl especially inattentive 1s in quiet streets. BTW love your videos realism, good luck.
I'm from Cork. Cork, like so many other cities is losing it's character. Ugly bollards everywhere & brick layered streets. All getting too yuppified now.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments, so do drop by, we'll always take time to reply.
As a Corkman, I appreciate this fine video.
Also, the surrounding towns, country side and coastal villages have great experiences to offer 👍
Ah good man - very glad you liked it.
We looking forward to going back and exploring more - is there anywhere in particular we shouldn't miss?
I always enjoyed my visits to Cork, such a vibrant and friendly city :)
I totally agree DaisyRoutes, thanks for dropping by. I enjoyed your recent Walk along the Malacca River too.

Yes it was! Lovely little camera 📸
Cork is so smart cool city🔥🔥everywhere is cemented
We certainly loved it too Kevin. Thanks for dropping by.

Did Joyce live in Cork?
I believe his family came originally from Cork but he was I think born in Dublin.
In "A portrait of the artist as a young man" Joyce talks about Cork.
