Honestly, I just loved watching the whiny baby boy get taken to school without the protagonist even realizing her OP magic even activated. Then he decides to wreck everything, all because he didn't get the toy he wanted from the cereal box.
It's not magic, it's Aether, in this series that makes it more like Divine power/Miracles and she knew she activated it but was just surprised that her clothes got the slightest bit torn despite how weak she had made the shell. It's confusing because Inglis is able to create Mana from Aether to perform magic, but essentially Inglis is the only Aether user around.

What she was surprised by is that he broke through them enough to damage her uniform, even though she had also deliberately weakened them a bit to get a better feel for what he was using. None of the later attacks did any damage since she raised her defense a little higher to compensate.
Don’t let Chris’ awesome aether skills distract you from the fact that Colgate-looking brat staged a hostility during his visit to justify the Highland’s upcoming destruction of the Lowland country they’re in. The themes of colonialism/imperialism in this anime are SURPRISINGLY robust. Normally in isekai you just have the Japanese MC come over to lord over the natives with whatever cheat skill they’re given. This anime has been such a pleasant surprise.
While the comment about this being categorized as an "isekai" can be debated, the following example with op Japanese is absolutely irrelevant, and forced me a brain freeze for a second.

I suspect the Prism Beasts are more a side effect of the magicks the Highlanders use to keep their civilization running. It's magical pollution. Of course if the surface dwellers knew that, they'd revolt. So to keep them docile and subservient, they give them weapons and technology to fight the Prism Beasts, make it seem like the surface only endures through their benevolence, and uses that leverage to get whole cities for free without any fuss.
As well as cause the knowledge of mana and aether to be lost so that people believed only runes and artifacts can be used to access mana. But this is all just fine for Chris (Inglis) as it means more opponents to fight.
I kind of have a feeling that her/his old country is them, since their is no record of it. (Either that, or the next king didn't do a good job, and the country didn't really survive to see past Inglis's death.)

Chris has no rune because she used aether to deflect the assignment of a rune.
I actually like this anime but the whole point of anime of reborn to master the blade is missing till the current episode 🤣... I haven't seen her using blade for fight.. except couple of fights only
I'm still waiting for A Wild Last Boss Appeared MC of that is so OP that even when her powers are sealed because of the laws of the universe only around 1% of power when she is sealed is needed for the majority of fights with some being other characters being around her level with only being matched by the real last boss (the Demon King), Benet (who is her rival and the second person to break the level limit of 1000), and the Creator God Alovenus
