Sadly, father did not speak honestly concerning current issues. It buffles me that we all know the systems which ZANU PF has put in place. State institutions belong to a political part, we all know this. Why in the world is it not being talked about. The Zim case is a sad one. We will continue to pray to God almighty, Jehovah is his name.

Thanks a lot for your observation it’s so sad that most of the comments are here praising this man. Honestly these old man are so conservative to their post independence ideologies and cannot change at any point in time. Defending ZANU PF is sad.

If we had a man like this Father being involved in negotiations, then we have a big problem. He can’t even explain much and he is very slow.He is the type of man who wants to be heard instead of hearing the problems. His training by the United Nations provides nothing of substance to Zimbabwe and we all know that that organisation does not care about Africa,so to me, what he was saying makes not relevance to Zimbabwe’s problems. Those two lawyers he is talking about are the exact example of people who want to be heard and win but not look at the problems faced in Zimbabwe by Zimbabweans.

    1. They are "learned friends", and lawyers are good at playing mind games with their "clients" by using outright deception, lies and subterfuge to achieve their ambitions.

Very disappointed at the level of shallowness demonstrated by someone heaped with so much praise at the beginning by Trevor. The suggestion of the Roman catholic way of locking the two lawyers in the same room until they find a solution is not only absurd with regards to it's practical implementation, but a flight from reality by the clergy man. If it were practically possible, he could have used it on Tsvangirai and Mugabe. And that he doesn't believe elections are stolen when there was glaring voter suppression in Harare, Bulawayo, and Manicaland, opposition strongholds, which, even a blind man could see, resulting in voting spilling into the second day for the first time in our history, is mind boggling, to say the least. Whilst he harps and trumpets about his training by UN in Mozambique and SouthAfrica, it scantily justifies his warped notion that current regime cannot steal elections. He only stops and counting of votes, but what about the manipulation of the spread sheet when punching in figures, a high, if not unbelievable number of assisted voters in the countryside as well as biased state media reporting. Why is he mute on such critical issues? Am left with none other than the conclusion that he supports the status quo, for one reason or the other, best known to himself. Even though he makes reference to thousands dying in the liberation struggle, 'more than 70 000 people', his failure to articulate a practical and reasonable solution to the current electoral dispute and conundrum, left me very disappointed, to say the least. The attempt to philosophise something that is as clear as a brazen, shambolic, electoral theft, that forms the genesis of the current crisis, which crisis is not new, a crisis which is well documented since the country's independence, is mind-boggling. While one can't run away from the clergy man's senility, hence lack of comprehension of current issues, his soft spot for the current regime in light of how he was declared winner through dubious and unverifiable results by ZEC, makes me suspect he is an accomplice in the heist, who knows where his bread is buttered and doesn't want to question the current status quo, for fear of losing a place at the political dinner high table. And l also blame Trevor for not asking hard hitting questions, preferring the spiritual side rather than the practical and physical. For instance, l would have expected him to question the practicality of locking the two in one room, as well as the chaotic nature of the last elections and how his training by UN was relevant visavis the sophisticated methods methods used by Zanu pf when rigging elections.

Unless there are already talks behind the scenes whose process he does not want to unsettle.

    - Confusion between when Mugabe was prime minister versus president.
    - Front line states even when South Africa was independent of white minority rule?
    - 2008 issues were what has ZANU PF to offer versus what had MDC to offer not that ZANU PF had killed so many to win the re-run?
    - He trained Morgan as a trade unionist leader.
    - Trained with UN.
    - He doesn’t wear a priestly collar is that normal or he was excommunicated?
    - He’s not happy opposition getting funding from external sources. Is he aware that local funders of opposition are targeted by ZANU PF?
    - Toyi toyi on the streets is demos handitika? I’m happy to hear Trevor admitting that innocent people get killed, in zoom meeting of the 21st Trevor was suggesting demos.
    - I’m shocked father justifies one side stealing elections as long as the other side is not watching. He doesn’t consider or is oblivious that in Zimbabwe people are scared (for their lives for very good reasons) to represent, observe or testify for opposition - CCC.
    - What’s a state craft issue? What’s being a cog in the wheels of the state? Was he just a spectator in the plot “coup” that was playing out? If that’s what he meant there, i agree. Otherwise, father has challenges in expressing himself well - replaying video at x 1.5 times he’s very slow.
    - I could be wrong but I am having doubts on the integrity of this man of God.
    - He sounds fake and I doubt anything good comes out of this man. I really wish if I am wrong.

What I dislike is your leniency. You sometimes let these guests whitewash their history and not take accountability. I’m not talking about Father Mukonori in this instance. The interview with Olivia Muchena is a good example as well the one with Saviour Kasukuwere, you let Mucheba parade as if she was a bystander when she was part of the cabinet. You did not ask her on her part in political violence especially in her own constituency. Sometimes I feel like you dont press hard and you let interviewees control the narrative. A lot of the key questions put across to him were left hanging. If l compare the previous Gono and Makoni interviews on the brutal political entanglements, Father Fidelis fell short on the detail in his responses. The Tongogara mystery was disappointingly scratched on the surface. He seemed to portray the picture that Mugabe or anyone in the Zanla camp was not involved in the shocking death of Tongogara. Very little or zero detail on the post-war feuds that were stirred up by Mugabe were revealed. The good part that he highlighted on, was to suggest the idea of having the two leaders in one room.

I mean what is he talking about Mugabe being a prime minister negotiating with president Tsvangirai, and in 2000, and boom these are talks that led to a GNU, well we know the GNU came after the 2008 elections. and who are the other people in the negotiating team, we never got to hear them. And him and his team making history in Moz, being trained by the UN, what was that about? And for a second please the Honourable Father must learn to say the truth, be bold, he prevaricated and avoided giving clear responses to matters asked.
