When I first fought Akechi I was using a Raphael lv84 as my main dmg dealer. A combination of Sword Dance with Matarukaja, Charge and Revolution would result in something around 1500-1800 dmg.
He would still response with "The hell was that?".

The sad thing here is it besides Joker Akechi actually had a lot in common with the other Phantom Thieves:
Ryuji, Yusuke, and Haru-Had an abusive or neglectful father-figure they resented they eventually turned against.
Makoto-Feels pressured to live up to everyone's expectations, sometimes at great personal cost, and repressed anger.
Futaba-A social outcast who's unwilling to interact with others, shared with Haru.
Ann-Misunderstood by their peers and lonely because no one wants to know the real them.
Morgana-Identity crisis.
In spite of all things he was just like the rest of the gang, a broken kid looking for a people to accept him. In the end he finally found the family he'd always wanted, and he chose to sacrifice himself to save them.
Well considering the way they left his fate as Unknown we can see him again in a Future P5 game. *Cough* P5 crossover game between P3 and P4 characters *cough*
He's basically what could've happened to any of the other party members if they hadn't been saved in time.

Also, no joke, when I got to the second form, I had Thor as my active Persona. I was disappointed that Loki wasn't weak to his attacks.

Yep. But because he had abandoned any kind of bonds with other people he only has two. Loki and Robin Hood. I actually have the theory that Robin Hood is the Product of the one bond he has with another person. Joker. It makes a lot of sense actually. Robin Hood was the leader of the Merry Man, called sherwood forest his home and had a strong sense of justice. This relates to the Phantom Thieves, Tokyo and leblanc and joker being the selfless and upstanding person he is. In a way... Robin Hood is how Goro truly views Akira (Joker).

As someone who got caught in this fight at a very low level and just wanted to find a save point. Haru's Tetrakarn and eating her carrots literally carried me in this fight.

Doki I do wonder if he actually is dead, he probably is but there's a small chance he might not be. I mean I know he died in the Metaverse (offscreen) but they could easily show his body if they really wanted him gone, like how bodies return to the real world in P4 after they die. Even Sae in the ending still said he was missing.
Add the fact that the bombshell that he was a wild card and your evil counterpart by "Igor". Seems weird that he'd get shafted this easy.

Not ALL gods are evil but most of them are in the SMT universe. Almost 95% surely, but there are the few that stand by Humanities side. In Persona most are less evil and more just are - there is no morality towards them since they're called by Human desire. Example, Ryoji Nyx-Avatar isn't Evil, Death is simply Death it HAS to occur. Another is Masakado from main SMT storyline. Masakado is the God that defends Humanity against the extremes.

He WASN'T always deranged, he just lacked the chain of friends to support him - and this made him rely on Shido more, who turned him into an assassin to help eliminate all people who stand in his way, Wakaba had research which would've helped Shido to start these incidents to get into power, Kobayakawa was about to report Shido to the police, Okumura would likely have spilled about Shido sending Akechi to fulfil the contracts under the guise of the "Detective Prince" and this also painted the Phantom Thieves in a bad light, causing the public to rely on Shido once again (Th other group which Akechi was talking about), then dispose of Ren to increase the publics trust of Shido, then - once Shido was prime minister, Akechi would be disposed of. I mean, think about it - if Shido was doing all this, people wouldn't trust him as they're all his opponents who were being eliminated. By using Akechi, Shido had a tool he could use and dispose of when the time is right. This was what caused Akechi to turn out this way, Shido had him exterminate and cause accidents for so long that he believed in personal justice - the reason why Akechi went to kill him is because Shido didn't think of him as human, and he had no friends - the only things he had was a father of whom he despised and the moniker of the "Detective Prince"

I thought this scene was HILARIOUS. Akechi calls Mona a piece of shit at 3:58 and then at 15:08 calls the mc some guy who lives in an attic. PRICELESS.
Fun fact: Loki is know as master of disguise in Norse mythology so the fact Akechi can change his appearance so drastically is fitting and likely inspired by that if not just an ability of that persona outright.

As much as I love this moment, I also don't like the fact when the Phantom Thieves go up against Shido, there isn't much mention of Akechi; I think there was a line maybe. They focus on Joker, and how Shido ruined his life, but Shido also ruined and caused the possible death of his son. They say nothing on Akechi's behalf and it bothers me.
Of course he’s mistreated after that. Akechi’s entire backstory, including how he became a detective, was nothing more than a lie. Wished he lived so he can be tortured forever.

I feel bad for Akechi. In fact I never hated him. People might say he's crazy and evil and I'll agree to that. But you know, all he wanted was to fit in society. Have a person to care for him because all those years all he felt was loneliness. So when he saw how Joker had his friends, at that point he lost it. Because he never had that and in the end he died alone.
But he at least died knowing that there were people who cared about him.
Then again, we can't confirm the death until we see the body...

If Akechi possesses the wild card ,then his arcana should be jester? the opposite of fool. Since akechi chosen the path of wrong (destroying society inside out).
They tried to not be so obvious about it. The jester arcana also only exists in p4g and not p4 so its kinda ok there since most people shouldve played the original game first.
I got spoiled on the akechi thing by the steelbook version of the game, since it depicts all the characters on there except akechi and the game tells you early on that there was a traitor, so the whole mystery goes out the window.
Lets also not forget that akechi could hear morgana talk about them pancakes
I think it's more appropriate to say that Akechi's Arcana is reversed Justice, because his motive is revenge, just like early in-game Ken in P3

Evelyn L. It’s kinda the point that being apart of the Phantom Thieves is what he really wanted in the end. It’s just that he was too far gone by the end of it. I hope they expand upon Akechi in Royal (which it’s looking like they will). He was a good character and everything but I felt like he needed just a bit more fleshing out, and it would be better if he was a party member for more than one palace.

Evelyn L. A lot of people do, he’s extremely popular, and it’s not hard to see why. Although for me personally, while I enjoy his character, I think he’s a terrible person who definitely would need to be punished for his crimes had he lived. He’s sympathetic due to his upbringing, but we can’t forget that he also was a serial killer who used people for his own ends. I’m hoping the way it goes in Royal is that Akechi lives and fights alongside you to the final boss, then turns himself in afterwards. That would be fitting for him I think.
To be real, I never really hates Akechi. Maybe when I found out he caused the mental shutdowns and betrayed us but after learning his past, I literally felt bad for him.

Akechi has such an amazing voice, major props to his voice actor.
Just realized anyone could have killed Cognitive Akechi. I mean in the game the whole party has guns and sure it's dangerous but that's what we've been doing. Anyone could've stepped in, shot Cognitive Akechi, and possibly save the real Akechi.
If anyone had drawn their weapon, C-Akechi would've either shot Akechi immediately, or turned his weapon on them and fired.
I know this is a year old, but Cog. Akechi probably would of shot on sight of another firearm being aimed at him
@@antonblann6742 maybe they'll give you that option in P5R, holding C.Akechi off while the others escape - killing him, and then returning to the real world. Also, maybe they could explain how Shido had used him for so long that he didn't know the difference from right or wrong.

Probably my second favorite boss of the game, behind the final boss, even if the traitor was obvious to me.
Props to his VA as well. He's certainly become one of my favorite voice actors due to how well he can go from dignified to batshit crazy.

I remember, just before he shoots the fake version of you, that Akechi says something about "The true criminal shooting himself."

For a person like me who feels pity and sympathy for Goro, the sad thing is that even if Goro does survive and help take down Shido both in Shido's Palace and in the real world, he would be thrown in jail for his crimes for most of if not the rest of his life and if he gets very unlucky, he would be executed if his testimony isn't enough to keep him being from executed. Even if Goro accepts his fate in jail, he would never really get a happy ending in the end. At least here he feels for once in his life someone actually is willing actually try to understand him and he dies for them as final thanks to them.

You know, many say that akechi is alot like adachi for their deception.
but he's more similiar to light yagami from deathnote when it comes to character and position.
1: their believe and ideal of justice became warped.
2: they both worked as detectives becoming killers.
3: the power they were given leads them to a sinister path, that in the end becomes their downfall.
4: both began commiting murders right under their group's nose, and finally betraying them.
5: they both schemed and killed to have their goals fulfilled, Even targeted family members.
But light became a worse monster than akechi could ever be.

When I first met Akechi I didn't like him (I even caught the 'pancake' hint he screwed up on). When he spoke against the Thieves I didn't like him even more. When he offered his help to the team to defeat Sae, I didn't trust him. When all the pieces began to fall into place before I got arrested, it didn't surprise me. When he revealed his true colors and he killed the fake 'me' in cold blood, I fucking hated him. Yet, in the end, there was a spark of sympathy for him in me for him, he still dug his own grave by even pretending to trust Shido.

she died two years ago, when Akechi developed his powers two and a half years ago. Also Akechi is the only one who would have been able to kill another person's shadow, as aside from him we never see real people who aren't the thieves inside the palace.

This scene is already very tragic, but it's the top-tier voice acting that really sells it. Fuck all the weeaboos who think dubs are bad, this dub is one of the most realistic I've ever heard.
I'm not usually a big dub fan, but I think this game had some pretty good voice acting, especially Akechi. His va gave me chills.

He's the result of a wildcard gone horrifically wrong. I can only think Loki is his persona resembling his relationship to Shido - one of trickery and deceit.
Goro is a wild card user chosen to be the Opposite of the MC and his Rival. Goro chosen the path for Revenge against the person who ruined his life while MC chosen the Path of Justice agianst the person who ruined his life. Both want to defeat the same people but have opposite reasons and results.
Given that Loki one ability aside of madness is also a master deception it wouldnt be surprising he has the ability to pretend to be another Persona. Robin Hood was a good disguise for him after all.
I actually think Robin Hood might just be another one of Goro's Personas, the yang to Loki's yin if you will. Robin Hood represents how Goro wants the world to see him, and maybe what he wants to become: a hero of justice. Loki, on the other hand, represents the side of him that's angry, vengeful, and broken, the face he doesn't want anyone to know about. Thing is, I don't know if Loki counts as Goro's Ultimate Persona or his Initial Persona, what I do think is they represent the different sides of his personality; design wise they certainly invoke the light/dark contrast. Some people believe Goro got Robin Hood by interacting with Joker.

I honestly feel like Akechi was a better villain than Adachi. He was a bastard child, he lost his mother, and he let his fame as a detective give him an ego, where as Adachi was evil because... a woman didn't put out for him. He also comes off as legitimately intimidating while Adachi seems to act like a Hannibal Lecter wannabe.

it's so strange, because this sequence was one of the best boss fights/character moments in the game and it's... hardly ever mentioned again. they mention goro /once/ to shido, and there's some muttering about him on the streets... and then the final boss mentions him. like... atlus, wyd? you hype up this character from the beginning of the game, set him up to be a perfect foil for the protag, give him the signature ability only protags have, generally, and then... he dies and is never mentioned again? like, dont get me wrong, i think it wasn't a bad ending for him that he died (tho i would have liked to see a redemption arc) it's just strange how little of an effect he ended up having on the others. his story feels incomplete because of that.
I think that was the tragedy of his story. Everything he did was in the end of little importance, no one remembered or cared about him in the end. He was truly alone

For future reference, Dekaja and Dekunda are great for getting rid of debuffs and getting rid of enemy buffs. Just so you don't waste multiple turns(and tons of SP)
They don't work if the target is already at neutral. E.g. If you cast tarukaja on yourself, and enemy casts tarunda, dekunda will do nothing.
J G they only work if your stats are lowered (dekunda) and if the enemy's stats are increased (dekaja)

I Kind of liked how Akechi didn't rely on other people to get where he was, he studied hard, and wanted the best for himself and became known and famous. He didn't need friends to burden his life or to slow him down. Hell it took the whole team to bring him down because he was more of a stronger person. If you go through life alone, pick yourself up when you fall, and not rely on others, you gain more inner strength and independence.
