There's a reason as soon as I got him, I only got him the Ray Gun from the Casino Prize booth and swapped his Accessory with something decent, but I wouldn't miss it that I already had. The game really does a good job with the red flags on this guy, and I don't just mean his cape.

Give it to Robbie Daymond, I though Akechi got a little boring after is reveal, but he more than made up for it here. He just went _insane_ here and it's awesome, especially when you get to his second phase.
My favorite part of this whole sequence is the pose Loki has when Akechi assumes his Black Mask armor. It's kinda like "What? You thought you'd have a trickster theme and NOT invite me? FOR SHAME, GUYS."

Looking back again, this should be considered one of the most emotional and underrated Protag vs. Rival in the history of Gaming History. You fight your rival showing it's true anger and motive to kill you, but then that motived shift once the truth reveals. Akechi was a puppet used by his own father, all the hate and distrust you have about Akechi is now shifted to be sympathetic towards him and that he truly does not deserve a life where pain, hatred and selfishness determines his fate. Despite him murdering people despite being bad,he is still a victim. It's truly heart wrenching and really made feel really bad for him.
He’s not a victim. He gave Shido power in exchange for praise from the public, then he plotted to tie Shido in a scandal. Akechi never took account Shido’s paranoia. Shido’s men were killed because he’s paranoid. And Ann said later on that Shido never would have rose to power without Akechi’s help. Meaning, it’s all Akechi’s fault that Shido rose to power to begin with.
@@mystery8820 The only reason he helped Shido come to power is that he could have enough trust that it would be his opportunity to to kill him. He was a puppet to Shido, his own father used him that he is willing to kill his son for his own gain. That is to me the most heart wrenching moment, plus Shido was responsible for the misery childhood life that Akechi had, and all that anger he had with him he hold him by being allies with his enemy and use that opportunity to get his revenge.
Even more so, he casts a spell called berserk which the monsters gain strength boost while lowering their defense. mhhh sounds like the berserker armor to me

Honestly I find it sad how far Akechi had fallen from grace up until now. A respected detective to a psychopath hellbent on exacting revenge on his father. It's almost pitiable, but I still can't help but feel bad for him.
Gonna reiterate what I said last time. Well, to the best of my ability anyway cuz I can't remember exactly what I said. So, I think they left what happened open for interpretation. I'm all for the possibility that Akechi killed cognitive!Akechi and escaped the Palace through a separate entrance and went into hiding. There were two gunshots then Futaba said she no longer sensed Akechi and only sensed the weaklings (probably meaning the Shadows) The game doesn't really tell you if there can be multiple entrances or not but remember, Akechi was waiting for the Thieves after their fight with the mafia gym and somehow got there without being seen. Plus he snuck into Madarame and Okumura's palaces without being seen either. So I think there's a possibility of there being multiple entrances. The rest of the Thieves got their apps through Joker (and always entered the Metaverse via his app) but Akechi already had his so it's probably unconnected to Joker's so he doesn't have to enter the Palaces by the same entrance as the Thieves. So I dunno. Maybe they'll bring him back and make saving his life an option in the updated re-release if there is one.
I love the idea! But the only thing keeping me from believing that personally was if they were gonna do a 'he actually lived' scenario, I'd like to imagine (spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't finished the game) he'd of had a short scene right before the finale with Satanael like the other persona games did, I mean, he didn't even get the shinjiro treatment. I would love it, cause I used akechi all through Sae's palace, but I don't think Altus had it planned though /: but I would personally love it if you're right, and if this game gets the Golden treatment, he has a better ending kinda like how Adachi had a better ending.
Soul Alert My personal theory is in the hypothetical updated re-release there'll be an option to save Akechi and keep him through the final battle. At the end he'll testify against Shido in Akira's place as well as confess to all the crimes Shido masterminded. A final scene could show Akira and the others visiting him in some correctional facility like how we had Adachi and Dojima.
Soul Alert well, at the end they don't say that he's dead, they say "and Goro's gone missing" And we never saw him die on screen. And (this is just an inconsistency but still lol) if you beat Goro, but don't complete Shido's palace by the deadline, Goro still arrests you
After seeing this scene I imagined a scene where Joker would have the option to slide under the bulkhead door to protect Akechi. There'd be an exchange of words about wanting to save Akechi between the three parties (You, him, and cognitive him), you'd hit the rank 10 after struggling to fight the hordes cognitive Akechi summoned, and Akechi would gain the rest of the party member things there...including his Second Awakening, and with it a proper "VOICES IN MY HEAAAAAAAD" Awakening scene, complete with Akechi getting his ass up and helping out. Not sure what his Persona would transform into, though I always imagined it being Baldur (he's already got Loki, why not?). All the while everyone would find another entrance (weak spot in the hull maybe) and bust in. Also, I thought of Akechi's redemption being something like "You can never truly be forgiven for the crimes you committed and the lives you've stolen, but from this day onwards you can move past that and focus on living for others, not yourself". And besides, the finale would make him less likely to re-lapse, anyway. Oh, and after the finale with the arrest, either Akechi goes into hiding and the ending plays out like normal, or he admits guilt and testifies against Shido alongside Joker, getting put in Juvie with him, possibly lightening his sentences since the metaverse stuff is no longer an issue, plus the crime of forging cases doesn't seem like a death penalty crime, especially if he was coerced into it and the coercer takes responsibility. It could definitely fit, and they don't have to just play off his crimes as "haha it was nothing", either. -really i just want to see some reference to akechi in the finale, broke my heart when they didn't even mention his name-
I think it would be cool if died by default, but I feel you hang out with him over the game it would allow the fight not to happen leading to him living
There's definitely a re-release of this game with updated features like P4G. I'm sure the option to have Akechi survive from his supposed demise will be one of them.
Akechi will answer for that. Also, he could have prevented those deaths if he didn’t willingly join forces with Shido to commit murder in exchange for praise. Akechi’s desire for needless praise and discontent with that praise spelled death for Akechi’s future.

Gonna reiterate what I said last time. Well, to the best of my ability anyway cuz I can't remember exactly what I said. So, I think they left what happened open for interpretation. I'm all for the possibility that Akechi killed cognitive!Akechi and escaped the Palace through a separate entrance and went into hiding. There were two gunshots then Futaba said she no longer sensed Akechi and only sensed the weaklings (probably meaning the Shadows) The game doesn't really tell you if there can be multiple entrances or not but remember, Akechi was waiting for the Thieves after their fight with the mafia gym and somehow got there without being seen. Plus he snuck into Madarame and Okumura's palaces without being seen either. So I think there's a possibility of there being multiple entrances. The rest of the Thieves got their apps through Joker (and always entered the Metaverse via his app) but Akechi already had his so it's probably unconnected to Joker's so he doesn't have to enter the Palaces by the same entrance as the Thieves. So I dunno. Maybe they'll bring him back and make saving his life an option in the updated re-release if there is one.

I love the idea! But the only thing keeping me from believing that personally was if they were gonna do a 'he actually lived' scenario, I'd like to imagine (spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't finished the game)
he'd of had a short scene right before the finale with Satanael like the other persona games did, I mean, he didn't even get the shinjiro treatment. I would love it, cause I used akechi all through Sae's palace, but I don't think Altus had it planned though /: but I would personally love it if you're right, and if this game gets the Golden treatment, he has a better ending kinda like how Adachi had a better ending.
Soul Alert My personal theory is in the hypothetical updated re-release there'll be an option to save Akechi and keep him through the final battle. At the end he'll testify against Shido in Akira's place as well as confess to all the crimes Shido masterminded. A final scene could show Akira and the others visiting him in some correctional facility like how we had Adachi and Dojima.

And we never saw him die on screen.
And (this is just an inconsistency but still lol) if you beat Goro, but don't complete Shido's palace by the deadline, Goro still arrests you
After seeing this scene I imagined a scene where Joker would have the option to slide under the bulkhead door to protect Akechi. There'd be an exchange of words about wanting to save Akechi between the three parties (You, him, and cognitive him), you'd hit the rank 10 after struggling to fight the hordes cognitive Akechi summoned, and Akechi would gain the rest of the party member things there...including his Second Awakening, and with it a proper "VOICES IN MY HEAAAAAAAD" Awakening scene, complete with Akechi getting his ass up and helping out. Not sure what his Persona would transform into, though I always imagined it being Baldur (he's already got Loki, why not?). All the while everyone would find another entrance (weak spot in the hull maybe) and bust in.
Also, I thought of Akechi's redemption being something like "You can never truly be forgiven for the crimes you committed and the lives you've stolen, but from this day onwards you can move past that and focus on living for others, not yourself". And besides, the finale would make him less likely to re-lapse, anyway.
Oh, and after the finale with the arrest, either Akechi goes into hiding and the ending plays out like normal, or he admits guilt and testifies against Shido alongside Joker, getting put in Juvie with him, possibly lightening his sentences since the metaverse stuff is no longer an issue, plus the crime of forging cases doesn't seem like a death penalty crime, especially if he was coerced into it and the coercer takes responsibility.
It could definitely fit, and they don't have to just play off his crimes as "haha it was nothing", either. -really i just want to see some reference to akechi in the finale, broke my heart when they didn't even mention his name-

There's definitely a re-release of this game with updated features like P4G. I'm sure the option to have Akechi survive from his supposed demise will be one of them.
