Here are some helpful pumping tips!
- Get multiple sets of pump parts
- The "fridge hack" is good for up to 24 hours!
- If the fridge hack doesn't work for you, use pump parts wipes to wipe them down in between pumps so you only have to wash all the parts once or twice a day
- Pump while bottle feeding baby
- Sterilize pump parts only once per week
- Use a wearable pump during the day when the kids are up and a wall pump at night
- Have husband take over washing the pump parts

Anecdotal; My daughter had a severe tongue tie, she could not lift her tongue at all. We had a laser frenectomy and she showed zero discomfort after and through recovery!! She is now 15 months, absolutely zero oral issues. I’m so happy we had it done for her ✨🧡
Oh Beth, I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. My 2nd baby started to refuse my breasts right around 4months mark. It was such a battle for both of us. I tried pumping for a little while but it was hard to juggle because I also have a 2.5 yo to take care of.
We decided to stop BF, use whatever supply we have left and formula feeding at 5months. She’s 6mo now … I can’t tell you how much it changed my baby (and myself.) She’s a lot happier and sleeping better. I also feel better too. I obviously didn’t expect that I’ll run into this problem because it was so easy with my first. At the end of the day, please do what’s best for you and the baby! Please don’t be so hard on yourself. Will be praying for you 🩷 fed baby is best.

My first child had a posterior tongue tie as well - the hospital didn’t catch it but my LC did so we got it lasered! Thank you so much for reviewing the curriculums. They sound right up our alley, so please keep us updated on them along the way!
Both my babies had severe tongue ties, and it was a night and day difference once having them revised. Highly recommend seeing a pediatric dentist who specializes in diagnosing and treatment of it!
My daughter had a posterior tongue tie (and tension because of it) and reflux. She cried every waking moment for a couple months until an occupational therapist worked on her. Then we got the reflux meds which helped more. Then after several people telling us she didn't have a tongue tie, we finally talked to a lactation consultant that our occupational therapist referred us to that immediately told us she had a severe posterior tongue tie. We did exercises for a few weeks, then got it revised when she was four months old. Our breastfeeding journey ended since she refused to drink that way, but it worked out for the best for her to bottle feed. Still so hard and heartbreaking but I guess that's parenting! Good luck with everything!!

Wanted to share a curriculum called “Five in a Row”
You utilize high quality children’s books!
You read the same book 5 days in a row and pull out different subjects.
For example using the book Madeline you could learn French culture for Social Studies, What is an Appendix/Appendectomy for Science., it is such a rich, fun resource with Biblical instruction intermingled.
My daughter is almost 2 weeks old and just recently got her tongue tie revised. Breastfeeding was so painful and she wasn't gaining weight, but now we're doing so much better! This is probably different since it was addressed so early on, but the stretches were very minimal.
Pumping hurt me, all the pumping hacks exhausted me, and the more worn out my nipples got, the less comfortable actual breastfeeding was. So I supplemented with HiPP combiotic, dutch formula, at 6 months. One bottle a day. It helped so much, my supply grew, and breastfeeding was finally easy.
My EXTREMELY colicky son also had a posterior tongue tie and related fascial restrictions and tightness. The laser frenectomy, plus Chiro, plus craniosacral was a life changer.

Exclusively pumping here and I feel you. It sucks SO BAD (no pun intended). It is the worst option of all, isn't it. Even bottle feeding is much easier, despite the bottle preparation etc. Those pumps just annoy, even wearables. You still can't do much when them stuck to you, can't hold the baby. And always have to stick to the schedules but life's in the way 😩😭 Pumping actually makes me angry, while it is the opposite when baby suckles.
Still, many of us soldier through, not wanting to give up the good mama's milk...or wanting but resisting. My boy doesn't like formula anyways.
Both of my babies have had tongue and lip ties. I decided to wait on getting my son’s revised since he was able to latch, but I couldn’t handle the off/on pain by 16 weeks. I’m happy to report that after a month we have a normal breastfeeding journey and there were many days/nights I didn’t think we would get here.
I just got the nature study and am so excited to try it with my two year old this year!
Also, that same two year old had a posterior tongue tie as well. He was the same-body was extremely tense, had a ton of burping/gas, and clicked when he drank. My LC diagnosed it almost right after birth so I was very lucky in that regard. we went through the revision and while it was a ton of work to do the exercises for weeks and take him to chiro and everything, i saw major improvements in his well being and just how he moved around in general.
It is hard work to go through a tongue tie revision but it might bring a lot of relief for you two. Anyway, keeping you and Rosie in my prayers!
Highly recommend seeing a pediatric dentist to rule out ties! They’re the most trained and often can do the laser frenectomy same day. Made a huge difference with both of my babies
My baby had a tongue tie and also has torticollis. We got the tie corrected, it took him a little bit to relearn how to latch. But let me tell you .. his latch is amazing now! No clicking, breastfeeding actually feels easy now. I highly recommend doing it, it'll be worth it in the long run.
thanks for updating on rosie, my boy struggled with a lot of tummy discomfort in the beginning and it was horrible 🤧 I remember hearing the clicking sound when he ate and he had a tongue tie but his pediatrician said it wasn’t a big deal since he had such a great latch and he was gaining weight just fine. thankfully he outgrew that and he is doing so much better now almost 5 months old… we never got his tongue fixed and the clicking has gotten much better but we still deal with his reflux
My second daughter is 3 months old and has had a lot of fussiness etc as well. Thankfully it’s getting better now, as we think we’ve discovered she was hungry and not getting enough food. Night and day difference in her fussiness when I started pumping and giving her more! She hasn’t been as challenging as Rosie, but I do understand many of the challenges you’re experiencing. It makes me feel a little better seeing other moms go through similar situations. I’m glad you’re getting answers and will pray you see a big positive change soon! 🙏🏻♥️
My first had gerd/ silent reflux. Took a bit to figure out what was wrong, but once we got her on a medicine that worked she became such a chill baby. We only had to have her on it until 6 months but it was life changing. It was terrible she would cry all the time, my husband and I would have to alternate who would hold her so we could sleep, she was always on the carrier , and feeding her was a struggle of getting her on a position she liked. My in laws would try to hold her to give us a break but she was never comfortable they would take her to the laundry room and turn on the dryer when they couldn’t get her to settle so I wouldn’t be able to hear her cry ( they were holding her and rocking her trying to settle but sometimes it was inevitable)while I took a nap or showered.
All this information is sooo helpful! Please keep sharing this journey. My son who is now one had a TERRIBLE time breastfeeding and was super “colicky”. I ended up stopping breastfeeding at 5 months because it was just so hard for both of us. We could never quite figure out what was wrong because my supply was great and I was initially told he had a great latch. Talked to many lactation consultants and while they tried to be helpful we just never got the answers we needed. Now pregnant with my second and praying for a more successful go this time around.
We are also trying to figure out what’s troubling our 2.5 month old - whether tongue tie, food sensitivities, silent reflux, swallowing air from oversupply, etc. it’s so so hard to watch them struggle and want to help but not knowing how. Especially when people say, oh you’ll never figure everything out or they’ll likely grow out of it. It makes each day hard. Will continue to pray for both our babes to find comfort and us to help them however possible!
My son had Torticollis with right sided preference, posterior tongue tie, and silent reflux. We had tongue tie procedure 2 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding was still difficult after procedure for about 2 months. I’m still very glad we had the procedure done.
Something’s that was helpful for reflux was making sure baby is upright for 15-20 minutes before lying her down.
Check if baby has a head preference, like what side is there face facing when you are lying her down. If it’s one particular side, try positioning baby to face the other side. The guppy stretch also helps lengthen the neck.
Hope this helps, I’m sure you’ve probably heard of these things. I feel for you. My little one is now 8 months old and after several months of breastfeeding, I am finally seeing how breastfeeding can be a sweet moment.

My daughter also had a posterior tongue tie that I had revised when she was about 3 months old. It did take a long time (probably close to 6 weeks) before I was finally able to comfortably nurse her and produce enough milk and phase out bottles
Dental hygienist here - get an opinion for that posterior tongue tie from a pediatric dentist . They specialize in them!
When I saw your previous video I was suspecting she had an oral tie. My daughter was very similar and she had a severe posterior tongue tie, even bottle feeding was problematic for us. It was so interesting to learn about it to the point I sought my own diagnosis and almost all my health problems from the past to present are related to my tongue tie which I also have it severe like my daughter. My daughter is now happy and healthy and I personally have had strides of improvement in my quality of life since addressing my own tongue tie. I am so happy you found advocates and you are headed to a good direction with some resolution soon!
My son had a tongue tie. 10/10 recommend getting it lasered. It changed everything for my baby

And my older one is what is called a high Need Baby. We checked everythig and he was physically perfectly healthy.

And my best Tipp: get a Swing to Sleep!!! This was a Game changer.
I haven’t heard of a posterior tie but I’ll definitely be on the lookout with our baby due in a few weeks.
I wanted to say, our firstborn had a deep arch on the roof of her mouth. This made pushing her tongue up against my nipple very difficult. We found certain positions and techniques to get the deepest latch possible. Also, tried nipple shields at first but then she worked toward latching 100% every time.

I really appreciate hearing your feeding experience with Rosie - I have an 8 week old, first-time mom, who also has a posterior tongue tie. We left the hospital with a triple-feed plan; the next day, we worked with a lactation consultant to develop a plan which alternated feeds between breastfeeding with a nipple shield and pumped milk in a bottle - much less soul-sucking than triple feeding. Now we’re down to one bottle of pumped milk per day and the remainder of our feeds are breastfeeding with the nipple shield. I would love to ditch the nipple shield but we both need it right now. We’ve gone to a paediatrician twice now to try and get the tongue tie released and they won’t do it because they’re concerned that he’s now learned to feed “incorrectly” for so long that if they release the tongue tie, he won’t have a good suck or latch on the bare breast. *sigh*
I’ve experienced a lot of mom guilt around feeding, and it’s so important to hear other people’s stories. Been following you since I found out I was pregnant, and I’m so glad I found your page! Would love to know the name of the doctor that you’re going to visit about the tongue tie - I live in Guelph so not far from you and would really like to get a different opinion…

My daughter had a tongue tie that wasn’t picked up by a LC and she had lots of weight gain issues and tension, I triple fed for 2 months while I waited for Christmas to be over and appointments to open up for a laser release 🫠 it was not immediate after the laser but after a couple weeks it just seemed to click and I dropped pumping and we breastfed for another 14ish months after that! The chiro was a huge help for us too.

Like you mentioned most people have tongue ties. It has become a huge focus of attention and I’m not sure why. I think you are on the right track with the osteopath..& maybe removing the tongue tie did cause her to loosen up because everything is connected. Praying for you! I was right there with you. I would fight with my husband because he made it seem like i was the one causing the breastfeeding not to work and I made her go through with the tongue tie surgery but I didn’t know what else to do. She takes European formula now..I got pregnant at 6 months my old pump parts failed and I didn’t realize but my cycle came back fast. She is healthy and happy. I wish the best for you I know how hard it is to make a decision. Just know even if you get the ties removed it might not still fix breastfeeding. It’s honestly traumatizing for mom & baby.
Girl I feel like I went through this exact same thing with my second daughter. She is 9 months now but everytime we would breastfeed she would scream, I mean scream & I would end up crying to. Her body was tight and it was awful not knowing what was wrong or what to do. I feel so much for you! My first breastfed just fine so I felt like I was failing my second daughter. She had tongue ties and the roof of her mouth is similar to what you described. We got her tongue tie and lip tie removed and it did nothing. I would not go through with it it was so traumatizing doing the exercises and she ended up being bottle fed still. She never took the breast again like I thought it would solve all my problems. I wouldn’t do it. I had to pump and that was really hard too..we made it 6 months but she is happy now & I have my sanity back.

My daughter had a posterior tie and light lip tie, we saw a paediatric dentist who confirmed and cut it and it completely changed her latch!
I don't know if my story will help at all but my first daughter had and still has a pretty severe unresolved lip tie (interferes with brushing teeth) and struggled for 6 months with torticollis, reflux, and clicking while nursing. She had a two month period when she was 4 and 5 months old where she was rejecting the breast at many feedings. I never introduced a bottle because she never took a bottle either (the bottle made her uncomfortable as well). It was just a really hard time with clogged ducts, a fussy baby, etc. She could only nurse in side-lying position without crying, but that was difficult to do out and about. Once she was 6 months old, her mouth seemed to grow enough to make nursing much easier for her and from then on to 18 months it was a breeze. Many mothers of babies with unrevised oral ties find that it gets easier at 6 months.
It looks like purple kohlrabi to me! We like to eat them raw, thinly cut marinated with vinegar, sugar, garlic, salt, and sesame oil.

Not really advocating for this, just something to consider - my daughter had terrible colics until we switched to formula. Similarly she lost interest in breastfeeding around 3-4 months, first I was pumping, but then there was a day when I was not able to pump in time, we gave her formula and as miracle all the colics were gone. We tried back and forth for weeks, with different elimination diets, nothing helped and then made a decision to stop feeding breast milk and finally I started enjoying peaceful motherhood. I haven’t even found a doctor who was able to explain it unfortunately, the closest thought I got that this is a reaction to some allergens in breast milk - gluten, soy, peanuts, fish, etc, but I tried eliminating everything they suggested and it didn’t work. Wishing you strength to cope with everything during this time ❤
whst formula did you give?
@@user-zi3vy3nq3r Hipp bio combiotik (I live in Europe, not sure if it’s available elsewhere). It is regular formula based on dairy.
My one month old has a suspected posterior tie as well and we’ve been exclusively pumping since day one while doing one nursing session a day…it’s so exhausting!! We have all the appointments as well but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like everyone has the same opinion so we’re a little lost on what to do.
Hi Beth, it sounds like your bub has a tongue tie. We had similar symptoms including the clicking on the breast and body tension with stiffness. My bub also had a persisting lip blister, gassiness that wouldn’t pass with burping, silent reflux due to swallowing air from the poor latch, mucusy poops, feeds would take forever and he would often fall asleep during them and he hated being put down or down tummy time. We didn’t have great practitioners near us and it took us some time to find qualified people in other cities but I highly recommend finding an IBCLC who is trained in tongue ties and an orofacial myofuncitonal therapist, we had a practitioner who was both an OFM and an IBCLC and she was amazing. There are great FB groups with practitioner recommendations which can be helpful. We learnt to not listen to those who weren’t specifically trained in the area and that it’s about functionality not how it looks (a lot of drs will tell you that it’s only a small one or it doesn’t look bad). I usually don’t comment on people’s videos but I hope this helps and you can find some answers. Good luck x
This all sounds SO familiar to me with my first baby. Look for a pediatric dentist that is trained in ties! It’s allllll related. Also a good chiropractor!

My first had a posterior tongue tie that the lactation consultants at the hospital didn’t pick up on. Lucky a private lactation consultant picked it up and sent us to get it snipped with a water laser. It made the biggest difference to his feeding and overall happiness. We swear by osteopaths as well as he also had a very tight neck which they think was related to the tongue tie. He’s now a thriving almost 3 year old! All the best x

@@BethGraceMoorewe got it done at a month old. We had that clicking sound prior also but that stopped after we got it snipped. The recovery was a little brutal, I think we had to do lip and tongue stretches 4x per day to make sure the tie didn’t re-form (I had a friend that didn’t do them well enough and poor girl had to get it cut again 😢). Was well worth it in my case.
I should clear up the above, the recovery itself was fine. No bleeding and it wasn’t sore at all for him. It was only the stretches that were brutal 😅

I'm so sorry you are struggling with breastfeeding! My son refused to latch no matter what we tried. I did exclusively pumping for four months and my mental health started to get really bad so we slowly started formula feeding. I know how hard exclusively pumping is and I'm so sorry you struggle with this!!
I was told my babies had "colic" but eliminating dairy, soy and egg from my diet while breastfeeding had my baby go from never happy and projectile vomiting to happy smiley baby within 2 weeks. I know even just eliminating dairy helps so many babies too. It's awful to think of how many children are suffering unnecessarily while medical professionals brush it off as "colic"
Pumping is so hard, for us we ended up combining it all until we evetually stopped bf at 9m. The cleaning and fixing stuff can be so overwhelming. I think if i had to do it again i wpuld get a sterilizer from like baby breeza or philip avent. The baby breeza formula machine was a life saver for me but worh multiple kids i would get more stuff to help me ❤️ expensive but it made me a more relaxed present mama
Pausing this video to tell u that u should find a dentist who specializes in lip and tongue release and go see them for a diagnosis. This will be much more helpful to u. And make sure if u do any releases, it's with a laser as the procedure is way easier on them done this way , and things will heal quicker and nicer.
Awe poor lil babe! My daughter is 4 months and also has a high palate. I didn't even know as a first time mom that you have to clean their tongues!! 🥲 Her tongue was covered in gross milk and she was tasting it because her tongue couldn't rest on her palate. 😭 Anyways I started cleaning her mouth and doing that alone helped her with wanting to breastfeed!

All of my boys have has posterior ties! We didn’t even know it was thing until 6 months with my first and I couldnt breastfeed and it was missed since it’s not obvious until when he had trouble BLW and then we learned it is a generic I carry so now we know with all our babies early haha and it is so consuming trying to take care of littles (3 under 3) which working extra hard to get that taken care of

I always loved getting homeschooling curriculum and trying to figure out what would work or not and what we would reuse or implement that was new. It helped me figure out what my favorites became over time throughout the grades. It does my heart well to see newer homeschooling moms go through that too. Brings those memories back. My oldest is a senior now. :: sniffles :: My youngest is only 14 months old though, so yey! May you enjoy your homeschooling journey! Clothes sorting is exciting too! I never pumped and could only directly nurse but agree with you about pumping and nursing mamas.

I had to exclusively breastfeed from the time my daughter was 3 months (i breastfed and triple fed the first 3 months) until 11 months (my supply tanked and I couldn't continue unfortunately), it was HARD. Genuinely hope I can exclusively breastfeed with baby #2.
Releasing the tongue tie isn’t the only solution. The holistic solution would involve chiropractic care and oral motor therapy. If you see feeding issue down the road, oral myofunctional therapy is great! My son has done it all. We just graduated from the oral myofunctional therapy he is final eating and gaining weight at 21 month!

have you considered stopping all the supplements you are on? most if not all of it goes into the breastmilk. be very, very careful about “fixing” any “ties”. if she’s uncomfortable now, she could be miserable afterwards. just a few well-meaning skeptical thoughts. :) wishing you and your family all the best!
The fact that this is your third baby and you have two others to take care also...it is totally understandable if you decide to just formula feed your baby. It is no shame to prioritize yiur mental and physical well being in order to be well for all of your xhildren. You your breack down....everything will break down. So you must decide what is best for you in order to be physically and mentally sane for your family. I had low supply so i formula fed my baby. I also breast fed her regularly just for bonding. So i did both at the same time. She is perfect in every way and nothing wrong happened just because she was formula fed.

My daughter and Rosie are around the same age. My daughter had a level 3 tongue tie(the dentist told us there was 4 levels of severity), so hers was on the more severe side. She also had a level 3 lip tie. She also had torticollis, which we went to PT for. However, I think it’s all related with the tension in the mouth from the ties. We decided to get both revised at 2 months old, due to difficulty breastfeeding. Unfortunately even after the revision we never got the hang of breastfeeding. I was told she has a high palette by a pediatric dentist, so maybe it’s partly that. But this is my first baby, so could be partly me and my anatomy making it difficult. I’m not going to lie, the 4 weeks of stretches we had to do 6 times a day were brutal. She would scream every time. I don’t think they were necessarily painful, but more uncomfortable to have our fingers all in her mouth. But it broke my heart every time I had to do them on her. Ultimately, we made the decision for her future and not just to try to get breastfeeding to work. I didn’t want either tie to cause issues down the road with speech, eating solids, or even dental hygiene difficulties. I figured it would be easier and less traumatic getting it done at a younger age versus when she’s a toddler or older.
Whichever decision you make for Rosie will be the right one. You know your baby best.
P.s. exclusively pumping is so hard. I’ve exclusively pumped from day 1 since we could never successfully breastfeed. It’s such a process pumping, washing parts, and then feeding the bottle. Like some of the other comments said, having multiple sets of pump parts is key!!
There is insufficient scientific evidence to support a medical diagnosis of 'posterior' tongue tie. Every other baby is getting their supposed 'posterior' tie released with little evidence to support the supposed 'diagnosis'. My son's release was horrific and not at all like they described. It just made things worse. Turns out he has laryngomalacia which was causing all those symptoms. All the symptoms you've described for your baby are the same my son had. And having his tongue cut into just made it much worse. I'd recommend anyone ruling out laryngomalacia before committing to invasive TT cutting.
Beth I feel for you. But maybe trust more on God than doctors/paeds etc . He is your portion
