I got to record a children's music record with Sterling almost 20 years ago. He did nearly everything in a single take and totally nailed the vibe with minimal direction. Not surprised at all by his success and I'm honored to have worked with him!
I wouldn't be surprised if he practices on his bass as much as his other guitars. I'm pretty sure he started as a bass player and transitioned to rhythm guitar due to the needs of the bands he was sitting in with at the time. I can't remember which song it was now, but on one of the "Wongnotes" songs on his YT channel has him and Sonny T switching and Cory played bass and Sonny on the rhythm. They both nailed it.
These guys are the best when they just jam like this- too often their tunes are over -composed super tight but lacking the soul they are trying to draw from. All amazing players, all super knowledgeable, but the origin of this stuff , 60-70’s soul/R&B, had everyone locked but breathing. So happy to hear them just play old school
Only other video I've seen Cory play bass in he's playing a different Fender jazz bass, but still with Bartolinis. I imagine he just gets any jazz bass and replaces the pickups.
Not sure if you know about it and I missed a joke, but Cory and Mark are together in the band the fearless flyers. They are amazing. If you havent checked them out you will like it for sure, with Nate Smith on drums!
More pocket than my dads cargo shorts
LOL
100%
Mark Lettieri has such a distinctive voice on guitar. Thanks for signing my FF IV record in Napa guys!
1:22 was the "Oh yeah, there's Lettieri" moment
Something in A? I'd give it an A+.
Live music like this needs to make a come back as a common thing!
Cory Lettieri and Mark Wong
*Corey Dart and Mark Wong
3:09 When you've got so much groove that the line noise adds to the song
Lol great pickup :)
It’s so nice hearing a raw snare sound with these guys play funk ofer it. Not something that happens very often.

Keep the camp videos coming! Was the most life changing experience of my life :)
Cory's been putting on WORK on the bass 🔥

I first noted Cory's bass grooves on "Cosmic Sans" which he did with Tom Misch.
I love your bass cory!!!
Pocket. In it.
Funk yeah! That was awesome.
Cory on bass is something I now officially cannot live without
He's always been a killer bass player
Just oozing with groove!

Such a great combo!
Cory, you should keep Mark in all your projects. It's always better when this guy is here...
I Love this harmony😢❤
Very nice bass tone
What a Crazy day 😮😮🎉🎉

This is what "power trio" means 💪🏿💪🏿
Sterling is like a matched grip Keith Carlock
that drummer is killin, hardly put the crash on one too funky
So tight man
I demand the lake placid blue strat baritone!
Love this, good job!!!😊
Excellent!!!
Hot damn that was tight!
A wild John Scofield appears. Awesome.
Incrível, voces sao sensacionais
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Is this trio touring 😮
1:40 mad Scofield vibes
2:12 and then all of Lettieri’s Sharrock influence comes out and stays out.
Gnarly.
Love sterlings drumming. He doesn’t make it so obviously funky and gives it a bit of a country swagger if that makes sense.
Starts off sooo MPLS funk.

Nice tone.
Pickups look like they may be Bartolini .. ?

Cory refusing to play bass if Mark doesn't play his guitar - instead of Fiore.

I've been waiting to see Cory play with someone from Snarky Puppy! That was sick. I'd love to see some more collaboration with the band.
