I'm new to scotch, started last year. I bought my first bottle of Lasanta a few months ago as a cheaper alternative to Macallan 12 Sherry Oak cask. Out of everything I have tried, these are my two favorites so far.

I have to be honest in saying I’d go with Glenmorangie 9/10 times, honestly the flavor is just as good if not better and considerably less the price. Like most name recognized brands, the price doesn’t always have to do with quality

Sherry'd scotches in general are great

I paid over $70 for this bottle at my local Wine & Spirits. I just listened to you say that you paid $50, but this was 4 years ago. I wish I discovered this sooner! Popularity increased the demand I suppose

Does the whisky come with Ben's beard?

Just finished a bottle of Lasanta this evening. Need to get another, just love the Lasanta, very mouth watering.

This has some real complexity and layers to it. And that nutty aftertaste, spot on! This is going to spoil me for going back to regular Glenlivet 12 and so on.

    Lasanta reminded me a bit of Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition...never tasted 46% version,wish I had,but for £35 on sale,its well worth it I think!😋😋😋🥃

Just got a bottle of this a few nights ago. HEAVY sherry influence but done very nicely so. Lots of dark fruits, nuts, nice mellow oak spicy and sherry wine sweetness through the finish..... Nice review guys!!! Cheers!!!

Would you say this tastes similar to Hibiki 21?

    Thanks for the review :)
Quick question, I heard that it was matured on bourbon casks. Are those potentially Jack Daniel's casks? Glenmorangie is one of the distillers that buys Jack Daniel's casks. Please advise.

From the Glenmorangie website listing of Lasanta: "Elegant but full bodied this whisky has spent ten years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being extra-matured for a further two years in Oloroso and PX Sherry casks from Jerez in Spain." www.glenmorangie.com/en-us/our-whiskies/the-lasanta

I think it tastes a little bit like an Irish type of whisk(e)y like powers but with a little more complexity...

How does this compare to Quinta Ruban, the port finished Glenmorangie. Less sweet, more flavor?

Als Neueinsteiger in Glenmorangie würdet ihr mir den G10 oder eher Lasanta empfehlen?

I love to see father and son reviewing but there are of course so many more bottles of interest so please show us tastings of new bottles not of those which are on the market for years!!! Everything else is near to perfect! Greetings from vienna

Mitigater One they do too many single malts IMO. I know that's probably their comfort zone. But it is whisky.com not singlemalts.com

For me, a disappointing dram at CAN$95. The Nectar s'Or at CAN$125, is even more disappointing. I found them both harsh and unrefined for their price point.
Let me put it this way, Glendronnzch 12 is more than $10 cheaper and matured for all 12 years in sherry casks as is Glenfarclas 12 which is $23 cheaper.

there's zero nuttiness. What meal did you have before hand, did you smoke? If you tasted the whisky a wee bit more subtle and not swishing it like mouthwash - you'd have a better after taste finish.

old Lasanta was one of the best whiskies on the market...this one sucks...they changed the recipe and the result is awful

    • @borismorrison
      @borismorrison 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

few years ago...old one was extra matured in oloroso sherry casks, non chill filtered and 46%...this one is extra matured in oloroso and px (probably refilled cask because it sucks), chill filtered and 43%....very different taste...and you could find old 1L bottles in duty free...the new bottles are not available in duty free

Jason Voorheese in that case go for Aberlour, it's much cheaper and much better....
