- During my "Let's Break FFVII" livestream event I showed off a quick demonstration of yuffie warping, a glitch found fairly recently that allows the player to skip any part of the game, including the Aeris death scene.

The reason Sephi has those gloves after stabbing Aerith is clearly because she drops a pair of gloves when defeated. Probably a 256/256 drop since it always happens. Solved.

I remember playing this for the first time and crying so hard, and then the game pull this dagger of making you battle after that shocking scene. Never cried so hard during a game. What a visceral experience.

I maintain that Cloud goes to the Promised Land and finds her. She tells Zack in the lifestream, in one of the books, that they were a fling and she doesn't love him anymore, she loves Cloud. So that's what I hope for.
I thought Alys Brangwin's death in Phantasy Star IV was sadder.

I'm so sick of the bitching about Sephiroth's gloves. It's blatantly obvious what happened: Sephiroth was minding his own business and his hands were cold but he couldn't put his gloves on because he was holding his sword and didn't have anywhere to put it. So he briefly deposited his sword in the most convenient available object, then off-camera he took his hands off the sword, put his gloves on, and then put his hands back on the sword in order to retrieve it and leave.
Most underrated comment of all time!
Hilarious, but if you pause around 1:37, he has his gloves on before he deposited his sword. He’s just that good.

The truth is that this scene is just edited leftovers put together and Aeris is supposed to die somewhere else, which is what causes all the inconsistencies.
I would have bought Sephiroth a sword sheath or something because I think human organ's and blood probably would corrode the sword or something.
I love how the only person to die during the jenova fight was aerith again lmao

Did you know that it's also possible to Yuffie Warp into the debug room? it's a little tricky to set up, but it is do-able.
Also, it's definitely worth pointing out that when you Yuffie Warp, YOU'RE NOT ACTUALLY WARPING TO THAT SAVE FILE!!!! technically speaking, you're still on the previous save file, before you recruited Yuffie. The reason that you're tricking the game into thinking that you're further into the game than you actually are, is due to the "Game Moment" variable, which is frequently called upon, and is usually set after a significant event has happened.
However, the "Game Moment" variable is incredibly different from the "progression flags", and there are literally dozens upon dozens upon dozens of these flags that ARE NOT SET WHEN YOU YUFFIE WARP. There are many time where Game Moment is ignored, and the progression flags are looked at, and at these points, the game will think you're on your previous file that you warped *from*. Game Moment is only adjusted if you warp to a battle in which Game Moment is affected afterwards, otherwise you are still at the exact point in the game that you warped from, just in a different location.
lastly, After the Jenova fight, the character in slot 2 is sent to Cloud's left, and the character in slot 3 is sent Cloud's right. If you had Aeris in 3, and Red in 2, then the game would still freeze, but for different reasons.
Each character has the same identical lines of coding in "script 4" (move to Cloud's right) and "script 5" (move to Cloud's left), *except for Aeris*. At the start of the sequence, the game tells character 2 to play "script 4", and character 3 to play "script 5". Aeris, who is character 2 (and doesn't even have a script 5, which is why the game would still crash if she was character 3) would then play script 4, which is set to play as Cloud is picking her up, which is why she fidgets. After which, the game instructs character 2 to play "script 6", which is normally the character's crying sequence, but because there is no "script 6" for Aeris, the game soft locks.

I remember when I was 7 I got to this point in the game and cried so bad that my mom called me from my room and asked me what's wrong. My older sister held me as I explained who and why Aeris is not coming back. That memory still hurts even though I've seen this so many times. Kid shit man. They tried to convince me she comes back to life...it made it so much worse that they would lie to me lol. Good times.
What they said was true from a curtain point of view, you just have to restart the game and aeris is back.

Someone already did with the PS1 version (with cheats), she really doesn't say anything special.
Like blainyrules said, its more bad than interesting. Lots of scenes soft lock. There are a few where she talks (which back in the day, people tried to use as fodder for the rumors she was intended to come back but left half finished) but that is because those lines are generic and just said by party member 1 or party member 2 and not specific to who it is. I think I did this with the code that put her back as the ancient temple version which made her unremovable and that really sucked because you just can't finish the game. Pretty much you would have to not use her for any cutscene dungeons at all.

I was thinking about this, do you keep all the items, materia, ECT. I am asking because it's been over a decade since I played the game but if my memory is correct, you would save before getting Yuffie would that be before the temple of the ancients, and I think that's the only place you can get morph, and princess guard. Could you enter the temple of the ancients, get those items, leave, go to the Forest area by rocket town, save and reenter the temple to make sure you keep those items or is there a point of no return in the temple where you can't leave. Like I said, been a decade since I've played the game my memory on this is a little fuzzy

I’m glad I can come here and read others enthusiasm about this game. Growing up no one I knew played this game which sucked. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. Maybe it was because I was 10 years old in 1999 when I got my copy of ff7

Using Yuffie warping, other than what you showed in the Ancient City, are there any bugs? Is it stable? For example, in the Whirlwind Maze or when Tifa takes command?

It's possible to clear the temple of the ancients, then do the yuffie warping to the air buster battle for example to get aeris back in the party, and then do another yuffie warping past the temple's ancients?

You say to do this after disc 2, I’m confused because this fight is the end of disc 1, can I Yuffie warp during any battle? A 2nd disc boss or even random encounter?

gotta agree, the full word is regenerate so the shorter version is Regen. its even spelled Regen not Reggan, pretty weird mistake to make really unless you've never heard the word regenerate spoken before I guess?

About that regen thing, imagine how difficult that was for us in German(y)! The way you pronounced it wrong ("re-gen" instead of "re-jen") is exactly what "rain" translates into German ("Regen"), and many of us always considered the regen spell to be some kind of a rain of healing energy raining down on your characters. The spell even somehow looks like a little rain around the party.
Any way you can do this without missing out on the items in the Temple of the Ancients?

@@jimthejake don't worry, me and the boy's are working on Phoenix Rise. There's just one problem; whenever I use it whoever I try to revive just turn into zombie's; and for some of the people thinking; no, not like sexy anime zombie's. I mean rotting, brain-dead ready to kill you zombie's. So we use a phoenix down to put the zombified fallen back to death, work on a new variant of Phoenix Rise and try again with the goal being to revive completely to the state they were before death even if they're already decomposed to a skeleton.

This does mean that you would essentially be locked out of all the items located inside the Ancient Temple (Aeris Ult weapon, Bahumut Materia, Master Summon by extension) and Kujata materia.
I don't understand the end when he says "now you're supposed to do this from disc 2". Huh? What in the sequence has to change? I don't get it.
Bit late but hope I can help, He means don't do the Yuffie warp into the battle with Jenova, do it after so your game doesn't soft lock. He only did that to show off what happens. The Yuffie warp works with any game over so do it after the team says goodbye to Aries

I have a small question, you said it works on the steam/pc version of the game. To my knowledge, the PS4 version was ported to the PS4, so does that mean this works on PS4.

no, the softlock is Aeris' fault indeed, so wrong warping with Aeris in reserve is the right way to go, but he said to wrong warp after that segment to make things easier
but Aeris shouldn't be in your party for many later cutscenes in order to avoid softlocks

Funny thing about the Jenova Life fight, for me it was easy because my Cloud had a thing which healed off Water damage which that boss did mostly.

Yes
You technically could use it through the master command materia if you trade the earth harp to the old guy. However it also means you can't create more master command materia because you can't get a master morph materia to complete the set.
I actually accidentally did this a bit earlier in the game. I tried to fight the fish boss (when you play the CPR mini game) but ended up getting bippity bopped. I decided to take some time off and try to recruit Yuffie instead but after beating her, the game warped me into the fish boss again lol. It's cool to see that this glitch has its applications.

+cesar soriano Soft locked means the game isn't frozen, but you can't go any further. As I explained in the video if you want to continue with Aeris you'll want to Yuffie warp to a part after the death scene, I warped to the death scene itself just to show off what happens.
My man I used to say Regen as well. I never knew it was RE-gen for regeneration until I came back to this game years later
When exactly should you do this to not get the soft lock? I don't understand how one can warp to this place/bossfight to get her back when the boss is defeated?
I just did immediately after the end of Part 1. The game will say "End of Part 1" and pick up again in the City of the Ancients with you chasing after Sephiroth. If you follow Sephiroth down that path to the next area where there's the the big cone shell and run around until you get into a random battle and lose that battle to get a game over. Then load up your Yuffie save (best to use a save just before you're about to start Bone Village.) You can backtrack a bit through the City of Ancients and the Sleeping Forest to get Comet and Kujata before continuing to Icicle Inn. However, you won't be able to get Bahamut, Morph, or any of the items from the Temple of the Ancients (which also means you can't get the Underwater Materia, Master Command or Master Summon Materia until after you defeat Emerald Weapon.)
A bit of a warning: your vehicles will be left behind to wherever they were when you fought Yuffie, so you do need to be careful not to get yourself stranded. I think immediately at the beginning at Part 2 is probably a good place because I'm pretty sure you get the Highwind after Glacier and the Whirlwind Maze.
Ah. I've figured out the new trilogy.
Each "world" is an allegory for these glitches. The lifestream represents the save files (memories), and whispers represent the game freezing from defying 'fate' (such as in this video).
Sephiroth, at the end of part 1, used glitches he discovered to fight the player sooner. His first step was to stop the game from freezing along the way as he fulfilled his master plan. (I don't know, but we're gonna pretend it makes sense) With fate broken, he controls when the player can advance by freezing everything to manipulate Cloud.
What he didn't account for, though, was Zack being the developers' secret failsafe, and Aerith existing in another save file on the Cloud server. (Haha)
You know what, fine. I like this idea. But I still hate the remake.

No. There's no way to kill sephiroth, so you can't use the die-respawn aspect of the glitch.

I tried for months and months (Like a lot of people) when I was a kid, to revive Aeris. I had a theory that if I could breed a Gold Chocobo, I could get to the City of the Ancients earlier in the game, with Aeris in my party, and read those weird light things. Spoilers: Can't get a Wonderful Chocobo 'till after Aeris is dead.
Anyway, there's one at the save point in the western side of the fork in the road as you come into the City of the Ancients, and another where you rest right before you go down to where Aeris dies. Cloud says something like, ''*The language of the ancients?'*', and covers his eyes when you try to examine them.
So put me out of my 15ish year misery that I'd resigned myself to defeat on. Does anything different happen if you examine them with Aeris in your party?
Nothing happens. There is absolutely no way to keep Aeris from dying or resurrect Aeris without cheating or warping, in other words Square put nothing in place to do it on purpose. Myself and a lot of other fans of the game own the code and nothing they wrote had the design to bring Aeris back, although it is truly amazing that we've been able to find ways to bring her back without outside cheat programs proving that gamers can do anything if they put their mind to it!
