  • This was a fun disassembly. Really pretty neat how it works. I still don't have an understanding of how it cooled only the bottom portion of the top tank. And I don't know what the parts were on the side of the hot water tank. Please let me know in the comments if you know. Thanks for watching.

I'm an automotive Master Tech and what you are doing is exactly why I make a good living doing what I love! I knew exactly what everything did as soon as you opened the case but was interested in your video because my Mom just got me a similar model for Christmas. As someone else here said, the two round things on the side are basically thermostats. one keeps it at the regulated temperature and the other is a high temp shut off. It could be done with just one but double redundancy is a good thing in a sue happy country such as ours. I love the fact that you were curious enough to do this and make a video knowing that you didn't really know what you were looking at. Always stay curious!! Great video!!!!!!

Your curiosity led you to victory and honor amongst the people. Thank you for sacrificing your time and equipment to explore a more in depth of many things people were wondering. Again you’ve become a hero on youtube😅

The parts on the side are thermostats. One is a lower limit and it turns the heat on, the other is high limit and it turns the heater off. Neat video, Thanks

My 3 year old asked me today , how does the water get from the jug on top of the water cooler to the cup, so we had to google it and we enjoyed this video so much! :) We have almost identical Primo cooler, so it was fun to see what's inside of it and how things work. Thank you!

That little pipe is the hot water vent

I don’t think that coil in the water heater is an induction coil because that wouldn’t work without another big piece of metal to induce a current through. It’s probably just a resistive heating element

Know this is an old video, but still had to give my 2 cents...did you check this unit out before ruining it?.....I found one in the trash that the only thing wrong was it had a water leak, was coming from the bottom of the hot water tank( outlet ?), sealed it, cleaned everything, sanitized, and now works perfect. These were over $200 new, and still sell for $99. As long as the compressor and cooling side worked, you could have saved it even if the hot side didn't, leaks are easy to fix...

I wish you would have shown more how you removed the top plastic part.

Well, I'm coming in 4 years later and I must say thank you for taking the time to tear this thing down and showing it.

I have that exact model. The hot quit heating. I loved the video and seeing what all the insides look like without tearing mine apart. I rarely used the hot anyway. The water that comes out the right is very cold but the middle spigot actually seems almost the same temperature so there is no separation. The warmer water would be toward the top is what I am guessing the designers were thinking. Heat rises. Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for posting this, I couldn't find a parts diagram and couldn't figure out where a little silicone sleeve on the top part with the spike went. With your video I was able to put it back where it belonged!

Thanks for sacrificing your water dispenser. I just ordered one and wanted to get a better idea of the insides.

I think the components at the side of hot water tank is some kind if temperature sensor. Because the system need to know weather the water already boiled or not, by reading it's temperature, for example 100°C. If the temperature already reached 100°C, then the circuit will cut off the current to the heater, so it will not over boil.

Well your efforts led me to understand some of the removal process without damaging. I have exactly same dispenser under some different brand name.

The 2 sensors stuck on the side of the hot water tank are used to measure the water level for process control. Upper one to sense a full tank so it knows when to turn on to keep it hot. The bottom is used to sense low water when it is almost empty to cut the heater power. An empty tank with heat on will damage the unit. The bottom sensor thermo-fuse to protect from overheating/maintain constant water temperature. This is just my guess.
