    @ Lloyd Piper, interesting. I'll start with this. I started about two years ago buying these Primos used. I have a pretty good hoard. Course some don't work and are toast due to compressor. I have been fully inside many and learned alot. Most used ones nobody cleans the flow tubes inside for water. They will build up with mold fast. I fully gut and clean which is a pain. Then every few months flush the lines. Happens to be tonight I walk in the room and find water all in floor. I see water gushing on right sidedown where cold is up inside. I have not dug deep yet, but float looks fine. I work on electronics so fig it was board went crap or sensor. Can't find a darn part for these or layout. I have battled with Primo for ages at no result. So, brings me to your vid. Now the leak is first for me. I have not studied board yet so I do not know exactly what you did or crossed. I know there is a reason why one set is white wire other black and where they go. I am curious 1. What exactly causes this leak on the board side. 2. What both them pin ports control being you swapped over. Grand question- you did the vid in 2018 does your dispenser still work fine after what you did? What I suspect untill more testing is something on board in line path went haywire. Thus not triggering a default off when can fills up. What exactly on board I have no clue. But do get back to me if yours still works fine and no overflow......

    • @lloydpiper1308
      @lloydpiper1308  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joesph Baumgardner all you have to do is switch the white wire to where the blacks are coming out and put the black wire where the green is coming out

    • @joesphbaumgardner4579
      @joesphbaumgardner4579 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update as of May 10, 2020. On the one Primo I did the board thing months ago. That still works. Month ago another Primo did the same over flow and running water. I tore into it and the verdict least in my case is it is the float. The two white ball sensor. I removed said and put in another Primo that works. I confirm that one over flowed. I took the good one float and put in bad and confirm that works fine. I can't exacty fig out what went bad in them, but it is a float issue. Primo course tells me they have no part.

      Watched your video and Primo video and just cleaned the tank and the floaters with vinegar. Didn't have to get into the electronics to fix this problem.

    • @joesphbaumgardner4579
      @joesphbaumgardner4579 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have many of these and over the course of time studied and learned alot on my own. Some I have not. One thing is yes, clean them. I flush mine every 3 months in stages that is about 1 hour. Bake soda and pretty much what you said. Most people also refill the jug and use tap water stead of buying the jug. Which is a no no. It will wreak the insides.

      @@joesphbaumgardner4579 I've never had any issues using well water as long as it's clean and I flush out my unit every two months with 2 gallons of water and 2 tablespoons of bleach and every six months I clean it out with vinegar, since I probably have minor particulates and other debris that the eye cannot see "well water that comes from a stream and a waterfall about 80 feet away"

    I know this is old, but it still works! Thanks! Can't believe there is virtually no other info on this outside of your video, so kudos, sir! And your three friends? No cold water for them!
    I have a theory as to why this works. There are two floats on the switch in the cold water storage tank. Under normal circumstances, when the bottom float hits the lower position, the tank begins to fill. When the top float rises to the top position, it signals the tank is full, and shuts off water to the cold water holding rank. Again, under normal circumstances, if you only dispense a small amount of cold water,, enough to lower the top float, but not the bottom, no new water would enter the storage tank. Only when it gets close to empty would it fill.
    When the top float goes bad, either in the float, the wiring, or the circuit board, there is nothing to shut it off and water exits via the overflow. By switching the wires, you are essentially telling the dispenser that the bottom float is now the top float. I can't (won't, don't want to, etc) work out the circuit design for this, and maybe it's just happy coincidence on how they designed the circuit board that it DOES work, but it does. The outcome of this is that the unit DOES function, and should until the bottom float circuit malfunctions in some manner. There are two things to be aware of 1) the unit begins to fill again immediately upon dispensing (not sure if this is typical of the "normal" unit as I inherited this one with the overflowing condition), and 2) the cold water storage tank will never fill completely to it's previous "normal" level, since it's using the lower switch to turn off the inlet flow. So you're missing an inch and half of chilled water in the tank. A sacrifice I can live with.
    Again, big thanks to the original poster! I was beginning to think that Brio and Google were in cahoots to suppress valuable information, but here it is!

    I'm going to try that mine was doing the same thing and I called primo and they sent me a brand new one . The defective one still cools and heats just fine I don't want to just throw it away like they told me to. Mine started out doing it just every now and then and I would hit the top of it and it would stop. then I checked the floats and the big plastic piece in the bottom to make sure it was all secure and everything was fine. But now it does it quite often but I'm going to try to switch those wires around so I won't have to just throw it away and I can give it to someone who could use it. Thanks for the video.

    I would've thought it wouldn't have made a difference. I would think you have an open contact either on the circuit a.k.a. cold solder joint on the PC board or on the wiring harness and when you moved them around. It completed the circuit. If that was the case it would probably happen again in the future and I would use an ohmmeter and wiggle the wires around and see if it is open. If that's not the case. Look at the back of the circuit board where they make contact on the pins and look for a grayish, not shiny solder joint. If it looks like that take a soldering iron that is grounded with some solder and give it a light touch and it should be shiny and that will correct the problem permanently. You would be surprised how many electronic items you can fix because of a cold solder joint. And you could be surprised how many are destroyed by not using a grounded iron on integrated circuitry LOL. As for your buddies. Not helping you and laughing during your informative video next time you clean your unit with bleach before flushing it out. Asked them if they would like a nice cool drink of water! Two problems solved LOL! PS I live in Kentucky and the water is totally undrinkable so we have to rely on bottled water and reverse osmosis systems and I stumbled on your video after watching something else. BLACK LIVES MATTER!
