Disney animation of a classic tale. Beautiful princess Rapunzel has been locked away in a tower since she was captured as a baby by an old hag. Her magical long blonde hair has the power to provide eternal youth, and the evil Gothel uses this power to keep her young. At the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when a prince uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape.

Small detail. Whenever mother gothel shows affection to Rapunzel, she's actually showing affection to her hair specifically
This messed me up when I saw someone pointing it out

Her "up and down" emotions when leaving the tower is all a trauma response to being gaslit and manipulated her whole life by her parent 😭
It can be really hard and confusing to break away from abuse you aren't even fully aware of(like Rapunzel)
And it kind of mirrors Gothel's interactions with her, right? One moment tearing Rapunzel down and the next a high-pitched, "Just kidding I always love you."

I love the whole scene with Rapunzel and Eugene with the lanterns. "I See The Light" is such a beautiful song.
Gothal could have avoided this whole situation if she just changed her birthday to a different day or just traveled farther away from the kingdom
If you pay attention, every time Gothal says I love you, she’s stroking rapinzel’s hair
I absolutely love the entire scene of Rapunzel exploring the kingdom. The joy on her face at seeing everything, and Flynn’s expressions of love when looking at her is so cute! The song that plays, Kingdom Dance, is one of my favorite instrumental movie songs.
The reason why gothel ages so quickly again is that she took advantage of the flower for hundreds of years (like Eugene said in the beginning) so the effect is lasting less and less
So if she used it more and more, does that mean at some point or another the Sundrop Flower’s power would stop working for her?

So glad you loved the movie, it's definitely a fave. Here's an Easter Egg you may not know about. In the beginning of Frozen, Arendelle's gates have been closed for so long that, when they finally re-open for Elsa's coronation day, everyone wants to take a peek inside. Including, it seems, Rapunzel - you can spot her with her short hairdo walking into the castle for a split-second when Anna sings "For the First Time in Forever."

I consider Tangled to be one of the best Disney 3D animation movies of this recent decade, so far consider it even a little more superior to Frozen, or Zootopia, and that they are very popular movies whit good storie telling, but Tangled feels More unique, it has almost all the elements from renaissance movies Good music, good story, good villain...It is a gem that many people unfortunately do not know or recognize ,
and Mother knows best as to be one the best Disney villain son perdiod.
Tangled and the Emperor's New Groove are two of my very favorite Disney movies but they are definitely less well-known.
Same. I never got why this movie didn’t do better when it came out. Yeah it was successful and all, but it was nowhere near the level of Frozen or any of the Renaissance movies like Beauty and the Beast or the Lion King. Which is a shame considering I think Tangled is one of the best Disney movies ever created, and I honestly don’t understand all the hype surrounding Frozen. It was a movie I considered meh at best, while Tangled is such a rewatchable movie and I kinda wish we got more of Rapunzel and Flynn. At least it got a series

They had to invent all new techniques to animate the hair.
Fun fact that a lot of people don't realize is that when Eygene says "hay fever" to the guard it was because he was planning on betraying the Stabbington Brothers so he blew their cover so the Brothers would go to jail and not kill Eygene after the betrayal
I feel like they could've extended it a little bit though. After the guard says, "yeah", Eugene could've said "hmm... hope you get better soon", which the guard would respond with, "thanks", and *then* Eugene would escape and the guard would suddenly realize what's going on.
You're reading a lot into that.
I am not a musical kinda guy but I love this movie. The songs are so good and the characters are awesome. Maximus is my favorite.
Tangled was always my favorite disney princess movie 💜
I once read a delughful headcanon that Maximus is the captain of the guard, and he was a human who'd only recently been transformed into a horse, so the rest of the guards are all like "well, he keeps showing up to work, so...do we defer to this horse now?". With the exception of the doglike mannerisms he has, I feel like this headcanon fits quite well!
Wonderful reactions from both of you! (And I totally get the emotion.) The end moment when Eugene cuts her hair is so shocking and wonderful -- and it's perfect, because as Jane noted, he is completely sacrificing his life there for Rapunzel's. He is willing to die so that she is no longer tied to this horrible toxic evil woman. Just a beautiful movie, and Mother Gothel is one of my favorite villains -- she is a superb, scary, toxic villain.
I hope we get another one of these, I don’t mean a sequel of course. Tangled came out after Disney had an on-off period of films in the mid to late 2000s. Tangled feels like a breath of fresh air to watch during this current era of Disney.

The reason why she looked older so fast is probably because the flower only temporarily stops the aging and her looks
You guys should totally watch the Rapunzel's Magical Adventure, and Tangled: The Series. It is well worth a viewing, and it will be fun to watch with your kids.
Tangled is one of the most romantic animations going.

Fun Fact: Rapunzel actually means "flower" so either the parents named her "flower" because of the incident that happened with her mom. Or mother Gothel named her that because that's all she wanted of her
Actually Repunzul is lettuce. In the traditional fairy tale her father stole lettuce for her pregnant mother and the witch who's garden he stole from claimed the unborn child as payment

Rapunzel literally means lettuce. Its an alternative name for the German species Rampion, which was craved by Rapunzel’s mother when she was pregnant. There is actually a deleted opening scene where Mother Gothel was planned to be a witch who actually owned the magical flower, and refused to give it to the king to heal his wife. Rapunzel literally just a German species of lettuce

This was so entertaining! Can tell that JV doesn’t remember all of it, so it was extra fun. Also the lava lamp in the background was hypnotizing me the whole time. It’s just so pretty!
I friggin love that horse. Probably one of the best characters. The bit in the beginning where he sees the horse's shadow through the vines is a nod to jurassic park (1st movie) and it made me lol so hard

Love this movie, got on dvd as soon as I could. I have such a great memory watching it with my little brother and dad. My dad loves max the horse :) we laughed a lot during this movie.
One thing about your videos, i like that you don’t make them so long, but you still somehow manage to get every important detail of the movie in it. I do like long movie reactions but sometimes i am too impatient, so your guys‘ reaction videos are always like a little treat for me haha ✨

I have recommendation it’s called Gnomeo and Juliet. It’s a really good movie. It’s on my top list of favorite movies.
Ironically, stealing the princess' crown was one of Eugene's most heroic actions. If he hadn't done that, and had his run in with Maximus, he might never have discovered the tower and Rapunzel might never have been found.

This movie can easily be placed next to the renaissance Disney movies. That's how good it is imo.
I love the movie but there are two plotholes in it that gets me 😀 Number one: Rapunzel somehow knows what a birthday is and how they work even though her "mother" doesn't know, the one how taught her everything she knows. Numer two: She is the only blond person in the kingdom and neither she nor anyone els thinks that she might be the lost princess.
Mother Gothel knows what a birthday is. She was being sarcastic and trying to gaslight Rapunzel. Also, books exist. That’s not a plot hole.

I was wondering who the actress is playing /voicing Mother Gothel and... she's Donna Murphy. Who is five-time Tony Award nominee, and who twice won the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical. ALSO she portrayed Rosalie Octavius in Spider-Man 2

I don’t know if it was the original use of a frying pan as a weapon but princess Peach in Mario RPG had a frying pan as her most powerful weapon.
Oh my gosh. Gothel is the best villain. The fact she is actually real, the way she isn’t insanely evil. She feels like an actual person. She is smart, and the build up to the character seeing she is actually evil when we know the whole time. Unlike when we don’t know. It keeps everyone watching because we want to see what will happen when the truth unfolds.

My favorite Disney movie ever
LOVED this movie!
I think they did well with this. I found out this last year my parents that raised me are traffickers and they trafficked me as a child and had a hand at trafficking me as an adult. This movie helped process so many of my emotions that I was gas light like her mom >.< so the up and down emotions she had when leaving the tower were super believable to me and a lot of my friends that escaped and that are trying to escape..
Edit.... I have memories from 3+ it's freaky af. Trauma is weird like that though.

I usually watch every movie and tv show in English or in the original language. But i enjoy animated movies more in my mother language (German), because i personally think they did a better job voicing it (i mean makes sense, because its my mother language lol, I don’t mean any hate towards English voice actors!). I never really liked rapunzel when I was little because mother gothel scared me sm , Pocahontas was always my favourite my mom told me I watched it like every single day but I recently learned the horrifying truth behind Pocahontas and I don’t think I’ll ever see it the same again😢
