It pleases me to see that even with all the new features, technological advancements, and body styling that the Grand Cherokee can still hold its own off road.
Funny reading all of these comments about other peoples' vehicles performing better or this Jeep not being that capable. Your 98 Silverado could do this too? Cool story bro. Your buddy's Rubicon with $10k worth of upgrades could do better? Cool story bro. There aren't many vehicles available that have the luxury of the WK2 along with modest off road capability. Range Rover base price is $79k. ML350 base is $49k. WK2 base price (USA) starts at $27k. Perspective, people.
Nice Video. Finally a decent Grand Cherokee video, and it's an Aussie one! I've got a white 2011 CRD QuadraLift over here in Brisbane, with the same Cooper Tyres. Back to Fraser Island in a few weeks time for me!
Hi Stormer1092, at the start of the clip, we are going through some simulated water crossings, not really mud as it is way too thin and below the water was all rocks. He used this part of the course mostly to show how different 4wd systems work. There were open diffs, traction control systems and diff lockers. BTW the instructor had done his homework on the car and told me whats settings to be in for all the obstacles we came across. Was some very handy info!
Don't forget to remove the front air dam doing this! It even says to do that in the manual for better approach angle, and the fact you could simply break the air dam.
I’m about to buy a Jeep just like this one but higher spec, I’m 16 and i love the idea of off roaring it’s just no ones ever gone off-roading that I know or not even my family, so I have no idea what I need or anything, all I knows is I need good tyres I just don’t know much about how to go off road , anyone got any tips?
I'm thinking of buying this car, I own 03 durango and I need something with better offroad capabilities and smoother on the highways. Durango is great but it's very outdated. Is there anything specific I need to look out for buying one.
QuadraTrac II has open diffs, correct? Apparently the QuadraDrive II in the WK2 has an open diff in the front but supplements it with traction control. Is there traction control on this WK2?
Finally some proper off roading, and not just a drive down the beach ! Do you have a Electronic Limited Slip Diff and under body protection as in the Adventure Pack ? Great Video.
That's barely any mud, where my Chevy Silverado Z71 went this morning that cherokee couldn't handle. For the steep trails during the last hurricane here in Florida we went on the logging trails which are way worse compared to those. For the parts where you were driving over crevices, I have not yet needed to do anything like that but I think the Silverado would still outperform. For a midsize SUV it does pretty good I guess but if I chose an off-road vehicle from Jeep it would be a Wrangler.
One big thing that I hate about the GCs from working on heaps of them is that annoying squeak noise you get from the electric assisted power steering :/
Sorry, I only say that because I see the things day in and day out (understandably gets fairly monotonous). They are quite a good car these days, they've really picked up their game quality wise, they just seem to have a higher than normal amount of safety recalls for their vehicles.
Hey just curious I'm looking at a preowned 2012 2013 jeep GC I have heard both good and bad feedback. What's your personal opinion on their reliability?
If anyone knows of a similar sport in the Maryland area I would love to know where. Nothing crazy mind you but fun dirt trail to drive would be a lot of fun
I have the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Since the first 1000 km I have been experiencing problems with it. The dealership was not able to solve them plus they are running at 250% over capacity. The car is amazing and it will seduce you with its features and functionalities. The dealership in Saudi sucks. and when when you email Jeep America, they do not care to acknowledge receiving your email. I will never buy a Jeep or Chrysler car ever again.
@Ata Hallak you should earn your right and go to the dealership and make him solve your problem don't give up like that you can find a solution for shore
I'm not a big fan of the rear styling; it looks a bit Toyota-ish. It lost its Cherokee look. Nonetheless, it's still one if not the best American SUV's in the market.
that´s not "mud", any off roader can see that you will never find such an easy road outside, except on the highways... (I´m talking just about the mud)
"Jeeps are very underrated"... I feel like in America, some Jeeps are overrated. Post the name 'Jeep' on something like a Compass and your 17 year old daughter thinks she's rolling dirty in a Humvee and the next thing she knows is that she is stuck on a curb in the mall parking lot.
this is horrible test , they fill the bottom and outter with rocks and slate , wtf i can lift a mini van and go through this , dont cheat the test to make it look better
Shane - ok I'll bite. I'm not a dealer, I don't have any affiliation with jeep. I'm just a guy who was super proud of my new car and decided to film a day of a 4wd course. I was learning how to off-road properly. This course was done in designated 4wd area in Perth, Western Australia called 'the power lines'. I had the only jeep in the course of approx 11 other cars. There were toyotas, nissans, Mazda, etc. We learnt that all the cars were capable in their own way of getting through the course. Please learn to get facts before you going blowing you're trumpet. I'm now onto my second grand Cherokee. They are not without their faults, but a lovely and capable car all the same.
Is it off-road? This is nonsense! This car can do more! We in Russia are doing things with him .... That the car is bursting at the seams, but the rides! ))
My bloody 1996 Australian built Toyota V8 ( Lexus engine ) 4runner can do better than that Jeep. All I have is a diff locker in the back and about 100% more front and rear suspension articulation !!! Jeep ok for highways but not for serious off roading - certainly not in OZ !
It pleases me to see that even with all the new features, technological advancements, and body styling that the Grand Cherokee can still hold its own off road.
I own one and it has never let me down off road in central Australia where I live
Only brand of car that looks beautiful dirty.

Silverado wasn't around in 98 but 95 ck1500 or 03 silverado could do this
Love the video I'm buying this in the next few months and u guys seriously sold me on this Jeep....Thanks.
Nice Video. Finally a decent Grand Cherokee video, and it's an Aussie one! I've got a white 2011 CRD QuadraLift over here in Brisbane, with the same Cooper Tyres. Back to Fraser Island in a few weeks time for me!
Nice! That's the first MY12 model I've seen taken to such an extent. Awesome machines. Considering it's a QTII, it did an awesome job mate.
thats an5azing considering hes using stock all season tires with just a 4x4 loredo. impressive. im sold

nope, just stock standard (quadra trac II). No rock rails or bash plates, though I would like them on in the very near future.
i love my jeep grand Cherokee with Quadra drive it is an awesome off-road vehicle
Don't forget to remove the front air dam doing this! It even says to do that in the manual for better approach angle, and the fact you could simply break the air dam.

It does not have a trial rated badge, imagine what they do for the trial rated badge.

Get one with a 5.7 hemi and have fun
So you're saying a brand new, stock Grand Cherokee won't perform as well off road as 3 highly modified vehicles? Who would have ever guessed that!
Awesome vid! What tyres you got there? They don't look like the standard Kumho tyres?
QuadraTrac II has open diffs, correct? Apparently the QuadraDrive II in the WK2 has an open diff in the front but supplements it with traction control. Is there traction control on this WK2?
Hi, good review! But what about the moose test of this truck? Is that as it is shown in the TH-cam?
They don’t have moose in ‘straya mate........
....and if they did Roo bars would help
@@billypower3349 ok, thanks.
Finally some proper off roading, and not just a drive down the beach !
Do you have a Electronic Limited Slip Diff and under body protection as in the Adventure Pack ?
Great Video.
Great footage. Thanks!
Jeep Grand Cherokee's my Dreams
Jeeps are awesome at off road
Can we see a Lexus video ?

Cool story. You should write it down......
10 years!
One big thing that I hate about the GCs from working on heaps of them is that annoying squeak noise you get from the electric assisted power steering :/
The reason why it squeaks is because it's hydraulic
Yes, that is correct. I have the unfortunate position of working on these crap sticks on a daily basis in the dealership I work in.
i happen to have a limited 4wd and love it
Sorry, I only say that because I see the things day in and day out (understandably gets fairly monotonous). They are quite a good car these days, they've really picked up their game quality wise, they just seem to have a higher than normal amount of safety recalls for their vehicles.

Are the kumho tyres that come with the jeep laredo 2012 any good for beach/sand/mud
Is it the Laredo package?
What are these called? Like how the cherokee is xj. I think the older grand cherokees are wj's
This one here is the WK2. Same chasis was used from 2011-2021
Low range on rock setting/lift at or2
If anyone knows of a similar sport in the Maryland area I would love to know where. Nothing crazy mind you but fun dirt trail to drive would be a lot of fun
CHOCOLATE WHEELS!
How much is the price of this car pocket 2012
Does this Jeep have all Four wheels Independent Type suspension??
I love my 2011 hemi grand Cherokee limited and I'd put it up against any 4wd anywhere, especially Land rover
did you have it on the sand/mud setting with the low range gears on?
exactly, when in deep snow or deep mud or deep sand.
Which jeep is that is it the overland
Question is this grand Cherokee lifted?
Pretty sure it had a Quadra Lift air suspension with different height levels and they had it in Offroad 2.
glad I helped you understand. :p
V6 Pentastar? 265/60 r18? Stock Tyres?
It's an offroad training course. He's learning how to go out to the real deal and not fuck up his brand new car.
do you have the air suspension?
better than ever'''
5700 cc ?
Perfetta
Bravo María!! Saludos desde Argentina
Where is this Australia
Post more videos, please.

Your steering wheels on the wrong side
For the guy who said that his Chevy was on "steep" trails their r no mountains or hills in Florida
Cheers
Top heavy? Something called adaptive dampening and electronics.. With electronics anything is possible.
Yes
nice puddles... pffft. i would be going ham in that just to give my jeep a new paintjob
rock setting for mud? lol guess whatever works.
if i only had the money for a brand new cherokee:(
You mean on the road, right? Because the SRT-8 is worthless if it's off the pavement.
perfekt
yes
I'm not a big fan of the rear styling; it looks a bit Toyota-ish. It lost its Cherokee look. Nonetheless, it's still one if not the best American SUV's in the market.
