    This is an overland.. and the lower facia (air dam) is removable in about 5 minutes or less It has just a few clips that run along the bottom. The rear lower bumper is also removable with a few clips

    It struggled in a few spots while the TC computer tried to figure things out, just shows how mechanical lockers are far superior to electronic "multi-terrain select" systems for off road. But it did it, on street tires no less, which is impressive in it's own right.

    Not true...
    I have a 2014 Limited 4x4 HEMI with the Panoramic sunroof. I just ordered mine with the part of the overland package to save myself money. Didn't want all the bells and whistles that the Overland had, but there were a few i DID want, and the sunroof was one of them... and it's aWeSoMe!!!
    But the easiest way to tell is to look at the fenders. Only Overland/Summit came with fender flares that matched the paint color. All others have flat black ones. (This is an Overland)
    -- Plus you can see the Overland tag at the end of the video anyways lol

      @peterkenton 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Offroading (not to be confused with mudding) is more about the driver than the vehicle. I used to bomb around in my moms mazda, trailblazing like a chevy years ago. i planted myself well before engaging anything and knew what i wasnt capable of doing because of ride height. its not surprising the new jeep did this, it can do alot. but if you dont have an idea of what to do, you can get stuck pulling out of your snow covered driveway. tires go along way too. if you are getting new tires, i suggest you research General Tire "Grabber AT2" - amazing tire. I have them on my ZJ and i have yet to lose grip anywhere.

    • @bdcasey11
      @bdcasey11 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter Kenton I have a 96 zj but stock rims. I have to admit, I was losing faith in jeep when they came out with the new Cherokee and grand Cherokee. But this has replaced my faith. I take my jeep every where. I've had it in axle deep snow. Axle deep mud. Driven up inclines that were so steep the front tires were slipping but I love it. I've noticed that pretty much no matter what tire you have, a jeep will find grip with them. I have cheap ass Michelin radial x that are pretty worn down but I still crawl with them. My zj is going on 280,000 miles and all I've done was replace the transfer case because it came with the weird NP 249. But yeah. That's my jeep story haha

    • @peterkenton
      @peterkenton 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      brandon casey haha mines sitting at 281k . still running solid. 5.2L - people talk about the 4.0 liter being bullet proof, but they are all i see in the scrap yards. ive seen one 5.2, but the miles on it were well over 500k and it all looked stock. so it had one hell of a life. im meaning to change my transfer case too. the all time 4x4 is retarded, i definitely would love to have the selectrac tcase with 2wheel drive as an option.

    • @bdcasey11
      @bdcasey11 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Kenton I have the 5.2 as well. The 5.2 is just as bullet proof because the compression isn't too high. Its such a perky motor too haha. All my friends have little imports and they were talking pretty big. So I raced them and beat all of them. My crowning achievement in my life so far. I replaced it with the same model transfer case. Worst mistake ever. I'm hoping to change to a NP 242 eventually. I have a problem with the front end binding up when I turn sharp. Like the front tires are getting full power and they break loose and squeal. Have you had that problem?

    • @peterkenton
      @peterkenton 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually ya. I have the exact same one. I noticed it when I had uneven tire wear. Then I got new tires and its gone. Right now Im having issues in a lot of rain. Seems my tranny gets messed up and loses power for thr first gear. When its really soaked I notice I have to really apply the gas to get going. Not all the time but when I splash around it happens.

    • @Bimmerphile1
      @Bimmerphile1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      David Hudson The removable front fascia is a built in feature that is stock on all trim levels except the Summit. You turn a few thumb screws and it drops right off. So, it IS truly stock.

      With the new version of QuadraDrive II, the front axle does not lock. It uses traction control only. The rear axle is electronic LSD that will eventually lock.

      quick906 It doesn't have an off road package, or if it did the owner took off the trail rated badges. At the end there appears to be a Overland badge on the back. My guess is it is a bone stock Overland withOUT the off road package. FYI in the overland the 'off road package' only adds skid plates and badges. The overland already has everything else standard.

    • @quadpit
      @quadpit 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +godzillaisnuclea123 Have you ever been there? It's a very technical and steep climb with a pocket area that if not driven correctly can cause a flip or slide off the wall and cave in your side. With a decent 4x4 it can be climbed but definitely a climb for a skilled driver or spotter combination. Like all videos this one does not do Hell's Gate justice on how steep sections of it are and how easily you could mess up if not knowing what you are doing. Short wheelbase vehicles have more difficulty due to the ledge about halfway up. Worth a trip if you ever get the chance.

    Off roading like this has to be the most dangerous (in terms of damaging and scratching your car) yet most dull thing you can do in a car.
    At least if you damage or scratch your car driving fast it is exciting.

    • @shanecroughan
      @shanecroughan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Actually, off roading takes skill. Any inexperienced driver would bang up their car pretty bad on this trail. It's not easy to navigate large rocks and understanding how your car will react when you are going up a hill, are tilted to the right, and you wanna go left with a huge wall that wants to prove it's stronger than your car lol...
