    I came here after watching Jon Lovitz as Congressman George Santos on Jimmy Fallon's show. It's good to see Mr. Lovitz on late night shows again. I miss his act and the 80s. Damn I'm old!

    I ended up here whilst browsing clips of SNL and such, and saw this Lovitz sketch in the results. It reminded me that Jon was on Sat Nite Live during an era that was really good-- I mean, from 1982-1992, SNL had casts which included the likes of Julia Louis Dreyfus, Christopher Guest, Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Jan Hooks, Dana Carvey, and more. I remember watching a lot of the episodes as they aired, back in my college years. It's a shame that Hulu does not have seasons 9-29 streaming. I'd love to see complete skits like "Jackie Rogers Junior's $100,000 Jackpot Wad" (it is on Vimeo, but it's washed out VHS quality) where Christopher Guest blurts out "Chocolate Babies?" ... so funny.

    I will always remember Lovitz stepping into camera view at an awards presentation, the Golden Globes or the Oscars. Jamie Lee Curtis was presenting for something and his hand came into the frame and he got a bit fresh with her. Some people say it was pre-planned but I think it was spur of the moment Lovitz. The audience was shocked but loved it.

    • @streetphone4619
      @streetphone4619 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correction: Curtis was accepting an award - probably for her wonderful performance in True Lies. It was her saucy dance moves in that movie that, no doubt, inspired Lovitz's risque stunt. Curtis took it in stride though and got him back. Her father loved it all - especially her equally shocking payback.

    I think he ad libbed this whole thing. I never understood why Lovitz didn't become a bigger star. He was funny, but I don't think he really had the ambition or desire others in his field had.

      ylekiote99999 This isn't ad libbed. There were a ton of crafty jokes thrown in there that are hidden behind the lies. Think about how a liar might describe something real that happened.
      Its masterful.
      Pay special attention to his hands at the chinaman part. Now imagine what you might pay a small man(boy) for in an Asian country like Thailand. His toenails weren't the body part being worked on, if you catch my drift.
      This character is based on the lies children tell, which always have an element of truth to them before the lie creates a tangent.
      "I walked 30 miles to the store, where I was greeted by a wall of people blocking the front. I had to persuade them to get in, but I made it. As I was checking the aisles, a pair of super hot models stopped by to smell me. They couldn't get enough!"
      This is what actually happened...
      He drove to Walmart and said hello to the greeter before checking out the perfume aisle. He sprayed some on himself, prompting the 65 year old employee behind the counter to tell him he smells horrible and he has to leave. She escorts him off the property.

      Most SNL people don't go on to do much. Dana Carvey dropped out of show business for awhile. Phil Hartman was on one of the greatest sitcoms ever when he died... and people barely remember him or Newsradio. These were some of the funniest people ever and actually saved SNL from being cancelled. I guess if you can't make a movie out of one of their popular characters, they sort of disappear. There's hundreds of cast members whose names you would never recognize.
