Dear Brothers,Philippians 2:5-11;The mind of Christ. This speaks to me of knowing through experience.Following by example. Thankfully we have the many scriptural witnesses to reveal the mind of God
I love you dr.Craig and thank Christ for his gifts. You are one of my go to resources. But the answer on two questions were not quite satisfying. The mind of Christ is divine and we have this divine mind!!! What is this mind of Christ? How does that work for me, through me as a blessing to others? I found this quote in M. David Litwa, we are being transformed (page 223): "We have the mind of Christ" (1 Cor 2:16). Paul's converts have undergone a complete cognitive transformation. They are directed by a divine mind that transcends their old self. That divine mind is the pneumatic Christ. In 1 Cor 6:17, Paul presents the divine pneuma as becoming one with the pneuma of the redeemed. If in other passages he maintains a dialectic between his mind or pneuma and the divine pneuma, he is sometimes prepared to submerge his self in preference for the pneumatic Christ dwelling within: "I no longer live; Christ lives in me" (Gal 2:20, emphasis added). Is this mere hyperbole? I believe that something real is going on here not easy for us (who underestimate the power of spirit-possession) to grasp. The divine pneuma who comes to dwell in the believer comes to operate as the controlling mind of the self. Consequently, it is occasionally impossible to separate Paul's mind from Christ's. This is not to say that one cannot always intellectually distinguish Paul's pneuma (or mind) from Christ's mind. It is merely to confess that Christ's pneuma becomes so integrated into Paul's thinking and being that he can occasionally identify his true self with the pneumatic and divine Christ. This does not mean that Paul's self is ob-literated; it does mean that that Paul's false self is transcended. Control by the divine mind is what makes Paul and his converts "not merely human" (οθκ αντρωποι) (1 Cor 3:4, NRSV). END QUOTE What does dr.Craig think about this?
Dr. Keener, how is your Mark commentary is going? On what stage it is? Plus, given the fact that it is in ICC, will it be actually critical, or it's not a requirement?
Critical doesn't have to mean negative; one can critically evaluate negative critical comments too 🙂 Being fair to evidence and views is important. I am editing my rough draft now so I hope to finish, Lord willing, this year (not sure how many stages after that but I will at least be done for now).
@@CraigKeenerPhD Thank you a lot for your fruitful work. I've seen in one stream as some people were wondering how could you make SO much so rapidly. Your prolific work were compared to Origen. th-cam.com/users/live1oyY2I6FZO0?si=U2ZVR1gonr3pDP4b 34:9
@@CraigKeenerPhD Hi Dr. Keener, I wonder if you’ve considered the “dorean principle”-? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts on it as it seems like an important area where we have a blindspot in our current commercialized context. δωρεὰν ἐλάβετε, δωρεὰν δότε. Blessings
Well I agree that people of the world have a different priorities and desires, but I think 1 Cor 1:18-31 is a little more than people don't want to believe because they have carnal motives. Has to do with Election and the Father giving some the wisdom to believe while to for others it's foolishness and a stumbling block. Also I think it's not wrong to seek pleasure, and to live as long as you can, and be as wealthy and healthy as you can, but you look at it very long term, and doing those things in the resurrection and the world to come when Jesus returns. That's why Jesus said if that anyone who loses his life for His sake will find it, and the motivation is, you do want to live in the end, that's why you should be willing to lose it now, if you are put in a situation where you have to choose between Jesus and the world.
