"Herakles, called Herk the Jerk..." I love Prof Keener's quiet humour. But I need to listen to this several times - for the wonderful wise and practical content.

I have a question; We know that the Holy Spirit has a mind of his own because he searches the deep things of God and as believers he lives in us, then why do i need to renew my mind according to(Romans 12:2)? Doesn't the Spirit teach us all things through his mind? thank you

It's not fully automatic--we need to cooperate. I might cimpare the gift of teaching--I wouldn't just get up in front of my classes and wait for the Spirit to move my mouth.

Hi Craig. It's a pleasure to find your channel recently and binge watch many of your videos.
Hope you don't mind if I ask you a few questions. There seems to be multiple different ideas about what it means for humans to be made in the "image of God," this was the first time that I heard anyone say it has to do with God wanting humans to be part of his family. I have heard of a "relational" view before, but never specifically in regards to how God wants every human to be part of His family. Is there any other video or work where you go into more detail about this view?

Not sure I addressed it elsewhere, though maybe in my lectures on Ephesians. Some valuable insights in some other approaches too, but here just looking at how Genesis 5 uses the wording directly for a son in the father's image@@stevenrivard9246

Could you please share your honest opinion about my hypothesis of being made in the "image of God" (Please don't be hesitant to hold back any critiques if you see flaws).
My hypothesis about being made in the "image of God" involves 3 parts:
      1.) Physical Aspect:
I think that most Christian thoughts on what it means to be made in the "image of God" fail because of a "sliding scale" problem. They are based on human capabilities, attributes, abilities or functions (What a human can do rather than what each human is). These views are in danger of making some individuals MORE human or LESS human than others.. logically speaking.
I think that every human individual is EQUALLY the "image of God" simply because the plan to save the world was through Jesus incarnation into a human. Out of all the different types of creatures that Jesus could have chosen to "come in the flesh" as, the 2nd member of the Trinity elected humanity... and that was always the plan.
That would give every human individual value regardless of ability, moral character, intelligence, role in life, strength, age, or level of development. Every human life is precious simply because 1 person of the triune Godhead chose to become and remain human.
      2.) Spiritual Aspect:
Any human that repents and believes in Yahweh will get what they want eventually... Made into the "image of God" spiritually (Conformed into the image of Christ spiritually). Believers are first justified, then a process of sanctification, and eventually are glorified). Jesus is the only way to the Father; and the Father and Son send the Holy Spirit as our helper.
      3.) Traditional Family Aspect:
The Old Testament is full of LIMITED pictures / reflections / glimpses of who the true Triune God is. Every Old Testament prophet is a limited and flawed foreshadowing that points towards Jesus for example.
With that concept or pattern in mind, I would like to propose the family of Adam as a limited and flawed picture of the triune God Yahweh:
      • Eve came from WITHIN Adam to be "set apart" as a distinct human person. This happened SEQUENTIALLY because Adam and Eve are physical creatures, who are bound by time and space. Eve has the same human nature as Adam, and is equal in value to Adam because she was 1 with Adam. Adam cannot produce another human individual by himself; it is only through union with Eve that another human can be physically produced. She is essential for the possibility of a relational family. Her name means "life" or "breath," and she is referred to as Adam's "help" mate.
      • The Holy (Which means "set apart") Spirit proceeds from our Heavenly Father as a distinct person of the triune Godhead. This does NOT happen SEQUENTIALLY because our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit are NOT physical creatures (They are limitless persons who created time, space, and physical matter).
I believe that the Holy Spirit is the Lady Wisdom spoken of in the book of Proverbs (And other books of the bible). I think it is her ETERNAL spiritual union with our Heavenly Father that has ETERNALLY generated their only begotten Son (Jesus).
The Holy Spirit is referred to with similar terms to the limited and imperfect Eve... "HELPER," eternal "LIFE," "BREATH" of God, etc.
      Think of it this way...
      ▪︎ Heavenly FATHER,
      ▪︎ Only begotten SON,
▪︎ then another MALE in the eternal triune Godhead/Family?
Are we "BORN Again/From Above" spiritually from a male OR female representative?
"Wisdom is vindicated by all her children."
      (Luke 7:35)
I have a lot more evidence to share if you are interested.
Please let me know what you think in a reply (Especially any critiques)
      God bless you.
Thanks for all your hard work for the kingdom
