Can you do the long interview seperate video. The CEO and his company is very interesting. His visions at thise times and future view 🤩😍❤️ I dont mind watching the bit pieces again.
Very interesting video about mountain hut. Just returned from Kamikochi and Karasawa Cirque. I fell in love with hiking in Japan since started hiking Kumano Kodo + Nakasendo 10 years ago in my first trip to Japan.
This was such an interesting and well-done video! Loved hearing from the managers of the huts. It really adds a different perspective to hiking in Japan when you hear all the work that goes into the running of the mountain huts.
Shirouma-dake was my first climb in the northern alps and it was magical! Like words and videos couldn't justify how beautiful it was in person. For sure it wasn't easy but it was definitely worth it. Glad to have discovered your channel!
How refreshing to see a sponsor that is TRULY good for the environment. Well done, Hannah for incorporating love of nature into something protecting it. Next trip to Japan will definitely include a non-Fuji hike. 💚
I find all your videos so very interesting and informative 👍 After moving here from New Zealand in 2019, I have found that Japan is exceptionally beautiful in many ways. Yours and Chris's photography is fantastic. Keep up the great work showcasing Japan's beauty. From your videos, I'm learning more and more on the best ways to capture drone videos and photographs of Japan.
This was my back yard for 12 years. I never did the hike (physical problems) but a friend would work on the Yari onsen rebuild most years. A beautiful part of Japan.
Cool insights into the hut situation up there. You'd swear those places make a fortune by the size of them but yeah, the costs must be astronomical also. I guess I'd better hurry and get to Yari Onsen!
First time I've watched this chanel...its great to see someone shining some light on the hidden gems of japan...instead of the usual tourist destinations...I smiled when you said that you can bath naked there if you wish...that smile grew even wider when you mentioned that tattoos were excepted...Great video...
@CurrentlyHannah ...im just glad that some beautiful people like yourself take the time to showcase the Japanese culture in its true form...rather than focus on the tourist destinations of Japan ...I lived in Japan briefly in the early 70s...so your video brought back some fond memories for me personally and spiritually...Horimono...I've subscribed to your channel, so im looking forward to seeing alot more great videos like this one...your a gem mate...cheers from Australia...
Hi Hannah, do you have a spotify playlist or something similar containing the music from your videos? Over the years watching them I find the music in your videos is perfect in setting the tone/vibe and your videos always have a unique style because of the music. Would be awesome to listen to this music on the go
So the Hakuba Sanso burned down in 1959, the year I was born! Sorry guy's, I did not do it on purpose 🤪. It looks really amazing up there, just WOW. Lots of admiration for Matsuzawa Teiichi and Eishiro, what they do is admirable, they look very sweet people!! I do wanna wish them lots of luck!! Warm greetings and hugs for you two from Pinkie
The name of the individual mountain is "Shirouma"-dake but the name of the town is "Hakuba"-village. Depending on how it is used, people interchangeably use "shirouma" and "hakuba" these days, so no one cares or knows which is correct. "Hakuba" is more commonly used when people call things in the area other than "Shirouma-dake" as a specific mountain. Originally the mountain was named after "horse ploughing field (rice paddy)" in Spring time but not meant be "white horse". Ploughing horse is pronounced "Shiro-kaki-Uma" in Japanese but it was shortened to "Shiro Uma". When the snow melts in spring, melted dark rocky face appears on the mountain in a shape of horse (melted dark ground not the remaining white snow). I have heard for a long time ago from a local person that, traditionally, people in Hakuba village might have used the appearance of horse shape on the mountain as a signal for the time to plough rice field or start farming in Spring. Or the dark shape of the horse on the mountain in Spring simply looks like a horse ploughing the field. Please be sure to check my comments are correct! I used to live in Nagano prefecture and go skiing in Hakuba for a long time ago. Thank you for a great video and story!!!
I feel like there aren't enough people that call Fuji san overrated. I have foreigner friends (I am a foreigner myself) that climb Fuji every year and are completely unaware of mountains other than Fuji. And I've met seasoned 70-year-old Japanese hikers who openly call Fuji boring and have only climbed it once in their lives.
Hahaha thank you! I always say it quietly because some people passionately love climbing Mt Fuji but I recon they’d change their mind if they got the chance to climb a different mountain!
If a hike has a "chain section", I instantly nope out haha. Great video as always, very interesting. The Onsen hut looks breathtaking. The amount of dedication to take down and rebuild the huts every year is admirable, just awesome. All for safety, but you'd think the government should at least shell a little out to keep it going. Sometimes the planet we live on surprises you, and at the same time sometimes the people we meet can surprise us with their dedication and motto for living life. Awesome!
Hahaha I could understand why you’d feel that way but this chain section wasn’t actually bad at all. Nothing like some of Japan’s other chained sections 😳 And I agree, I feel like the government should be helping out a little more 🤔
ahhh, Hannah, i remember you mentioning this story! it's still so wild that they break it down and put it back up every year, but you gotta avoid the avalanches, amirite? looks like a great onsen, though-- and tattoos are okay! 💪 i saw some bandannas for sale in the background; hope you bought one hahaha also those shots of that glacial gorge with the melting snow overhangs and the river underneath? gorgeous! pun intended!😂 hope you and Chris are doing well! all these vids make me wanna come back~
Do you have a link to the route you took? I see you have a suunto! Onsen is: Hakuba-yari Onsen-koya This looks like 2-day trail, possibly a loop or point-to-point?! I'm very interested thank you!
I have been super-curious about the issue of staffing/supplies/maintenance of all those huts (some of them massive) perched high on many of Japan's peaks for quite some time, so thanks for doing a report on it, very interesting. (only 3 rangers for the entire Chūbu-Sangaku National Park? That's unbelievable) ...although I still have loads of questions. Did you come across any sites or materials that expand on the subject? (probably in Japanese but that'd be ok, with the help of AI translators I should be able to browse it) Oh, and the images/pictures/..., 👌(chefskiss) as always. Thanks Hannah... 🙇♂
Hi, Do you need to book the onsen and the accommodation in advance? What happens if you just randomly pop up and ask for a stay for 1 night? Are they welcome and kind?
I flew to Japan to do this hike and unfortunately got there after the snowy gorge closed. It meant that it was a 7-9 hour hike to get up. It absolutely sucked. Really unfortunate that the mountaun hut staff never warned people about the route closer despite you having to provide the details of how you are going to get there.
I am remembering that we had been in very quiet socialty life situaiotn because of china`s virus ( covic 19) . you had been trying to be showing your new nature beautiful scens, hadn`t you? I was knowing your nice videos . because , in those days not many people was showing about nice view scens. but I was trying to watch your nice view videos for many times. to be watching your nice video, something very good feeling was stbling my mental situaiton to be well. it was truth. I watch your video again. thank you.
They get money from hikers staying at the hut as well as mark ups on items and food sold at the huts, but above all, they also manage some ski resorts so that’s helps balance it out!
松沢社長?の「お客様の笑顔を作る」という言葉には泣けました。
ハンナさん、クリスさん、ありがとう。
ドキュメンタリータッチのすばらしい作品でした。

Oh I’m glad to hear you found them interesting! Maybe I’ll upload an extended interview with them on Patreon 😌
When I was in middle school, I climbed this mountain with my family and friends! It was tough, but the view was amazing!
Very interesting video about mountain hut. Just returned from Kamikochi and Karasawa Cirque. I fell in love with hiking in Japan since started hiking Kumano Kodo + Nakasendo 10 years ago in my first trip to Japan.

I’m so glad you thought so! It’s definitely made me appreciate their work a lot more!
Shirouma-dake was my first climb in the northern alps and it was magical! Like words and videos couldn't justify how beautiful it was in person. For sure it wasn't easy but it was definitely worth it. Glad to have discovered your channel!
Isn’t it stunning! My favourite hike in Japan so you made the right decision 😁
Thanks!

That was such a great video! I agree with you... Japan has great hikes and I absolutely love the nature in here!
I Hope the management should open a crowdfunding effort for the mountain hut. It is a noble pursuit to keep the hikers safe.
Thats crazy. When i hiked fuji i was wondering about logistics of these huts, all the bedding, water, food etc. amazing
素晴らしいビデオに出会いました。日本の姿を美しく描いた映像です。

That was a good one Hannah. So interesting about mountain huts. Would love to hear more. Carry on, from the mnts in Canada
Cool insights into the hut situation up there. You'd swear those places make a fortune by the size of them but yeah, the costs must be astronomical also. I guess I'd better hurry and get to Yari Onsen!
Another amazing, entertaining, and eye opening video! Thank you so much for showing us all these spectacular things as always!
As always an interesting video with beautiful footage))
This looks like an amazing hike and the dedication of the hut owners gives the experience another plus.
By far, this is your best video. It’s very refreshing. I don’t think any other TH-camr has been here? How in the world did you learn about this place?
I’m really happy to hear you liked it so much! It certainly pays to talk to the other hikers in the area :)
Thank for japan mountain video, your video is so nature immersed

I can only imagine how relaxing it is to be able to enjoy that onsen after a long hike 😌
It’s the BEST feeling 😅
@@CurrentlyHannah do you ever back to Australia? If you meet Just Jess....please send my regard to her
Very interesting and amazing video. One of the reasons to travel it's your video.
Great video wonderful Hannah!!! The onsen hut looks inredible!!!
Spectacular place. Thank you for telling us about it.
Adding this to my bucket list.
You are always improving whereas I thought it impossible! Great job, sorry at a loss for words 😅 ❤❤❤❤❤

Your hiking video is always the best.
What an incredible story of philanthropy Hannah,,,, Only In Japan. Cheers, Muffy from Oz.

Love your video.. they are simple and great
AMAZING PEOPLE OF JAPAN! 💗 🥹
I looove this, so want to do this.
Can you please list the minimum gear needed to take up with me for a hike, thaaaaaanks
very nice
I think the transportation for supply the needs can cut the cost, since the DJI drone is growing so fast!
Do you have a link to the route you took? I see you have a suunto!

The red stuff on the ice reminds me of that scene in Star wars episode VIII. What is the red stuff anyway?
So good

I could listen to the whole interview with Matsuzawa Teiichi and hese son.
Crowdfunding may be a potential solution to maintain these mountain huts?

急にさぶくなったからめっちゃ温泉行きたい・・・
Good video^^😅😅
is there a direct way to support them?
Interesting that sometimes it's "Shirouma" and sometimes it's "Hakuba".
For management of my house in Courchevel I pay 800,000 euro for year. I think it's normal
Chris is pooring 😂😂😂😂
does this mean they are not gain any profit? how they earn the money for funding?
They manage a lot of huts and even some ski areas so it balances out in the end
👍
is this your favourite 2 day hike in japan?!?!
Hay hanna
So how can they afford to keep rebuilding this thing if it costs so much? Do they get much money from hikers?
They get money from hikers staying at the hut as well as mark ups on items and food sold at the huts, but above all, they also manage some ski resorts so that’s helps balance it out!
How is your Japanese husband going? Now I came back to your channel since 4years.

You're so beautiful. Like an Angel!
3千万円も!! 高い。自分は日本人だけど全然知らなかった。
It's cute even though it's not makeup😊
This is so sick
Japanese huts are… not New Zealand huts! Oh, wow!
big pogs
私は阿曽原小屋の露天風呂が好き!

Thank you for another amazing video. By the way, I just joined Planet Wild
