This is amazing. Absolute game changer! Has absolutely set my mind into overdrive with the possibilities. Also the way you explain it is amazing. I've only ever "coded" in VBA for excel, but now really feel like I can get my teeth into this.
This method provides a workaround to get past the one character sheet type per campaign. I’ve been wanting to have small simple character sheets for units and vehicles in my D&D game, and this will allow me to make a template for one then, copy and modify it as needed. All the rolls can be made with a click from one sheet.
You made me so happy then so sad. I love the thought of putting clickable macros in my campaign handout but I run multi-monitor and always have the main story handout on a second screen. Still useful for other handouts though so thank you for the awesome video sir.
This will help me with traps. I didn’t want to make macros for every single trap, so I created a NPC with each trap as an attack, but maybe this is easier.

I've tried pasting the `&{template=default} {...etc...} text and it doesn't work properly (will roll the inline rolls but it just displays the braces instead of a neat box). I even tried & instead of the ampersand. It works fine if I paste it on the chat...
Nick, I'm sorry to hijack your comments - the video was awesome, by the way; like all the rest, too - however I was wondering have you made a video about combat where, as the DM, I can select a handful of combatants and have them roll attacks? For instance, I have an encounter with 15 swarms of rats. Is there a way I can select all the swarms and have them roll their Bite attack? Thank you for your time. And Thank You for the videos. EDIT: I do have access to the Roll20 API, if that helps.
Hi Nick. I am trying to embed a macro in a handout. If I create the macro and then link to it, the output looks like it should. One roll public and one roll to gm. If I try to embed the macro it outputs the data but not in any format. How would you recommend embedding this? code = @{selected|wtype} &{template:default} {{name=Dragon Dice d12 Roll}} Rolls D12 = [[d12]] /w gm Rolls d4 = [[d4]], d6 = [[d6]], d8 = [[d8]]

However, when I save the link, it escapes the ":" character and converts &{template:mytemplate} into &{template:mytemplate} When sent to the chat, Roll20 does not seem to find the template and does not work. Would it be possible to resolve this problem? Any ideas?

If you want to use roll templates, your best bet is to make a macro and then call that via the link.
Not being able to pop out sadly defeats alot of the purpose of this great trick

Hi James - you can't have templates like that directly in a handout, so the only way to use templates is to make them macros and link to them.
