    I have just paid for a plumber to come and do this, I was watching and he literally just hit the pump and charged me £80!! Lesson learned, thanks Dan

    Was convinced I’d have to pay someone to come out and fix the heating but I watched this video and fixed it myself! The “clink” hitting the thingy-bob with the hammer got it working...I did have to perform the procedure twice and bled it out and “clinked” it twice, then pressed the red button, et voila!!!! Fixing up a little house that hasn’t been touched and no heating for over two years, so glad I found this video, thank you Dan 😊

    Hi Dan - thanks for the very helpful vid. Wonder if you can help - I took the big screw off my pump ( a standard 3-port Grundfos) and put an electric screwdriver in and tried to turn the motor - it wouldn't budge either clockwise or anti-clockwise. At this point there was only a trickling escape of water. Then I put a bigger screwdriver back into hole and gave it a few light taps with a hammer whilst trying to turn it. At this point water started to spurt out from the tiny centre hole - almost horizontally - rather than just trickle out. Is this normal or have I broken something? Any info greatly appreciated as the only heat I have at the moment is coming from my wife's scalding fury...
    p.s. Incidentally I did manage to get the motor shaft turning with an electric screwdriver after the leak had drained down the central heating tank in the loft and therefore practically stopped.

      I personally have never had the water spurting out, it does (meant to) have a steady trickle of water but only a trickle. If it's a pressurised system you may have some build up of pressure but I would take the head off by the four Allen key bolts and check the impeller inside the head to make sure it isn't damaged just to be sure 👍🏻

      @@PlumbingGy Big thanks for the reply Dan - system is gravity fed so not pressurised, (?). Will check the impeller as you kindly suggested - what should I be looking for in terms of visible signs of damage?
      If it turns out that I have broken the impeller I'll then impale myself before the wife does...

    • @PlumbingGy
      @PlumbingGy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HAhahaha no trouble, check to make sure the impeller isn't distorted or damaged/blocked in any sense make sure that it is clear and functions as should. You can buy the head alone but half the time you may as well buy a unit.
      Let me know how you get on 👍🏻

      Amazon my friend, I think it's under pump magnets, or plumbing/plumbers magnets

    Where is the pump located ? I cant find mine

    • @PlumbingGy
      @PlumbingGy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That my Friend is the question, it could have been put anywhere.... Normally relatively close to the boiler off the flow. Make sure it's not inside of the boiler, if it is you won't be able to get to it unless you get a qualified plumber in I'm afraid.
