Give them more time. Eventually they will get used to u. You are the food source and they know that.
My single JD was never any hassle and left all his other tank mates alone...Watching this video is getting me interested in buying another haha!

Yes i have a turtle dock and an uvb lamp. But they never tend to bask. I haven't seen them bask. So yeah

make sure your tank is large enough, remove any larger aggressive fish that may be stressing it out, make sure your water parameters are right and ammonia is zero, and if all of those are correct try switching to black sand and feeding bloodworms and high-protein pellets like Hikari that really bring out the darker colors and make the iridescents pop

My Jack Dempsey destroys all of the plants so I don’t bother buying more. I buy him beautiful and expensive plants and he destroys everything. A lot of the plants are in this video.Doesn’t even eat them, simply kills them😭
He has plenty of space too, a 75 gallon tank. He killed his companions 2 parrot fish and an angel fish that were bigger than him. Now it’s just him.

Something tells me that Jack had himself at least quite a few snacks. The fish wasn't named after a boxer because it's docile. Even If it can't fit in it's mouth, it will very well harass fish to death. Nice tank but, please do some research next time.

I know i eventually treated him.. he was better. Idk exact it was a hybrid.
