From Season 3, Episode 7: "One Minute"
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

It's dumb even by his standards.
@lik-zf5xx This is going to convince literally no one. Try a different approach in your dawah.
This why Gomey still under the dirt and Hank only ended up under a Domey.
It's crazy how Hank literally had 3 confirmed Salamanca kills
Gus and Jessie only got 1 each. Hector doesn’t count as he went on his own terms.
Which Salamanca Walter killed?
Technically Hector
@@GeneralSirDouglasMcAI mean they convinced him blowing him up with gus was a good idea, they killed 2 birds with 1 stone imo
It’s crazy that you didn’t know, Hank only got two (tuco and marco), Mike Ehrmantraut is the one who killed Leonel.
If the Salamanca twins had just walked separately in regular clothes, instead of looking like two hitmen.
or if they both used different calibers
They both look like agent 47 tbh
@@sw_0rd762 They both used expensive m1911s, so I doubt they would use different guns.
Edit: nvm one was using a m45, but their both shiny guns chambered in 45 acp.
Then nothing would have changed....
Nah, too easy
Hank is a hell of a character. Killed Tuco, fought the brothers with no gun and won, figured out Gus then Walt with 0 budget while they were completely beyond suspicion from everybody else, called Walt's video tape bluff... He even started his own brewery ffs. All this while dealing with a kleptomaniac wife, his disability, and PTSD from previous operations and betrayals. The guy just didn't stop.
I agree with everting except workin out walt on no budget. He only got walt cause of sheer luck
@@ShiggystardustNo, he only got Walt because Walt was the smartest idiot on the planet. At one point literally even telling Hank because he knew he wouldn't believe him.

😆😆😆I think Yul Brenner was the best thing that ever happened to bald guys. Telly Savalas (as Kojak) and Vin Diesel are tied for second. But the Salamanca twins were pretty badass. And this show DID take baldness to a whole new level.

The fact that the guy that sold the twins the vest gave the guy a bullet which in the end saved Hank is incredible
Vince has done it again
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two shows that use Chekhov's gun so well, not a single detail that i dont go back and think "damn, that was so much more important than you could ever realise the first watch"
@jimblesnontroninbo6690 In many cases, it was less Chekhov’s gun, more elements being used in different stories in ways not planned. Which is itself impressive
My favorite catch on a rewatch is the scene where Walt is spinning the gun in his back yard trying to figure out what to do. It stops facing away from him and the show moves on. On a rewatch it had stopped facing the plant he uses to poison Brock.
You're welcome!
Those who think the second brother going back for an axe is plot armour have not seen how far cartel can go for torture.
Not when they're in America, in public right outside the DEA office trying to kill a DEA agent. It's 100% plot armour but who cares it makes for good TV.

This scene is a great demonstration of how adrenaline sharpens all of your senses as your body goes into defense mode. Dean Norris gave the performance of his life. I think he doesn't get enough credit for all of the mannerisms and layers he gives to Hank to make him feel like a real person.
The way he calls Gomez and keeps his macho persona up while he's unsteady with his breathing and trying to fight off panic seems so real. Walt, Jesse, Gus, Mike, and Skylar all got their flowers and praise for their performances, but the true hero of the story was never nominated for a thing

It's interesting that Hank thinks that it is a prank call, but is still scared af. His body took it more seriously than his mind.
"think positive"
Then you painfully watch his mind catch up, slowly. Intense
That's his police instinct kicking in. You can tell around 30 seconds in he's thinking, "was that a prank?"/That wasn't a prank."
Even if you're an average joe civilian, a cryptic phone call warning you that your about to be killed would make anyone morbidly nervous.
Anybody should take a threat like that with some seriousness.
In the back of his head, he knew it wasn't a prank. It was a "just in case it is I can still save face." It's why he told gomey to call as soon as he got the message. He knew something was about to go down.

Hank put the Salamanca brothers into the ground, just like minerals in the soil. This is the genius of Vince Gilligan and the writing team.
Yeah I'm sure he ate em 😮😮
The fact that he shot the first brother with the injured one’s gun, would say otherwise. It wasn’t meant for them to survive though that their success rate was beyond 99% in taking out Hank. But my simple explanation is that God is in charge of everything happening in the universe, and the moment you guarantee something, just back off for a moment and contemplate it. Sometimes that inner voice of soul that is muted by many people unfortunately, is really honest and one should listen to it.
what, he's literally in between a panic attack. It's his adrenaline fueled instinct that kicked in.

The Twins were the dumbest assassins!
They were willing to kill Waltuh in his house,
but decided to kill a cop OUTSIDE station in a public parking space...
For real lol
The method they were going to kill Walter was at least in a professional assassin like behavior, killing him in a vulnerable position of being completely alone, relaxed and taking a shower. With only one door to come out.
The thing with Hank was the complete opposite, Hank could of had a spare gun in his truck, one of the many bystanders could of yelled the moment one of the twins pulled out the gun alerting Hank. Witnesses and property damage out the wazoo. Also shooting him from behind the truck was so stupid and not even a clear shot. Wasted so many bullets with that part alone.
They were over-confident. Used to deal with shitty gangs in open Areas so they thought It would work with a single DEA agent too.

My first thought was "why doesn't hank drive away?" Guessing because his cop instinct kicks in and realizes that even if he escapes if there are people trying to kill him they will keep coming after him and his family until they succeed, so he decides to take them head on having the advantage of knowing they are coming.
He was told he had one minute before they showed up, and he wasted part of that minute not taking the call seriously. By the time he did take it seriously he was already looking around the parking lot making sure they weren't already there. By that point he would have left himself too vulnerable just by backing out of the parking space and leaving himself open on all sides.
Wouldn't it have been a smarter move to get the hell out of there as fast as possible, then call the police for backup?
@@dr.aisaitl7439 it would be brilliant...but then the twins would just disappear and catch him again later like the OP said. It was risky but it was the best chance of dealing with them without being paranoid waiting for them to come for him, especially when he's potentially out with his family

I imagine his thoughts were like - time, 1 minute, who, after me, gomaz?, prank?, no gun, steering wheel, him?, her?, where, will it, prank?, phone call, who ...

"They are coming..." -- Gandalf
3:54 imagine the knock-on effect that would have on how the whole show ends if he had just pulled that Trigger right then and there.
One detail I'd never noticed before, the wardrobe selection for the guy at 1:49 ....that grey hoodie/dark shirt/bald head when out of focus looks like one of the twins.

The travesty smfh
Hank's logic:
- Drive away from that place as fast as you can while there is still time ❌️
- Keep wating there knowing you are unarmed ✅️
as if they can't tail you till you reach home?
I did not say he must drive home, just enter the highway and escape while you call the cops
@@joseospina7557 that's just delaying the inevitable, not to mention hank was suspended
The guy has lost above his belly but still says “terminalo” what a mission guy, what a responsible guy. Still thinking the mission :))
This is arguably one of the greatest scenes in modern television history. No matter how many times you watch it. You get that gut wrench with goosebumps followed by pure adrenaline

You seem to have a pretty low standard. This scence was laughable and cheap.
The first twin let himself hit by the car but had ages to jump out of the way.
The other one goes for an ax and does not notice that hank is reloading his pistole right in front of his eyes.
Yeah, truly epic...
@@MasterFeidn awww my comment made you upset
@@Devilish__ not at all. Matter of different viewpoints.
The round of ammo it showed hitting the ground was a Winchester Black Talon they haven't made that ammo in twenty years.
Wait till you find out what year this shows set in....
I think now i get it: after putting in the bullett he made the weapon appear to be empty. I always wondered why the cousin ignored the gun.
Good catch
Not really. Gun was empty and locked back. Hank manually put the single bullet into the chamber from the top, gun locked back the whole time. He was struggling get it in and just barely did in time. Dropping the slide forward is kind of rough with slippery bloody hands so he struggled to do that too in the split second before he finally shot.
@@rusty_from_earth9577 He even saw him inserting the bullet ... I wonder why he ignored the weapon
Good catch
@@rusty_from_earth9577I think they meant the mag was empty, and marco might not have known that you can still load a gun without the mag, or realize that he dropped the bullet
If anyone ever tells you that the Sopranos, which is a great show, is better than Breaking Bad, just show them this scene. No TV program and no movie has ever had five minutes more compelling and breathtaking than this.
I consider them equals. Despite both being crime dramas, they're actually pretty different shows. Breaking Bad definitely wins in terms of having a gripping narrative, but The Sopranos is deeper and more philosophical in its themes. I also feel that The Sopranos has a better roster of characters, but it's very close.
My favorite part is when Hank calmly says “ It’s ASAC Schrader’n time” and Schraders all over the Salamanca twins, truly a moment of the show

Stay off TH-cam. You contribute nothing.
they are not twins they’re cousins
3:53 is what ruined everything. If he'd done the job, then the tread lightly thing wouldn't have happened.
Plot armor through the roof!
@@Link_2099Chicago sunroof
Wrong. If Hank never backed the car into the other twin and injured him, they would have just regarded him as just another hit. All business, nothing personal. But as soon as he hurt his twin brother, this went from an 'ordinary hit', to 'it's personal'. Hank having the quick-wit to take one of them out put the other brother in an emotional state that caused him to get sloppy and want 'revenge', ie, make it hurt more than just a bullet. Not plot armor. Hank literally hurt his family member, and he wanted Hank to hurt just as much, if not more.
@@ryantrudell4686Exactly. Like an axe is way more painful and personal than a instant death using a gun to the head.
Screaming lady at 3:14 makes the show. Best supporting actress right there!
"Too easy."
Famous last words
ez
I think I he meant too easy as an execution with a gun.
Hank is a badass he killed the two that a whole crew couldn’t kill without even having a gun
Bad writing honestly, the cousins can walk into a compound with 10+ guys all armed and wipe them out with ease but they can't take 1 unarmed guy? lame
@@vladdracula299
They could but they were too arrogant marco could’ve killed him
And he wasn’t caught off guard too + hank got pretty lucky tbh.
@@vladdracula299
And hank isn’t a guy he is a DEA agent so all these elements combined i can see hank winning
Its a pretty slim chance but its definitely possible.
@@vladdracula299 The compound was surprised and the people therein were probably not as well trained as Hank.
Regardless, as soon as the twins are actually fighting several opponents at once who are fighting back at full capacity the fight turns into a stalemate broken only by another surprise attack.
@@vladdracula299Hank was armed. He had a vehicle. I love how people conveniently forget this lmao.
For anyone wondering why he didn’t drive away: Hank is a dedicated cop and when he hears danger he dosent run away he runs towards the danger making sure no one gets hurt
I love how at 3:11 that guy is just standing there after all the gunfire and cars crashing. The lady also ran towards the gunfire. 😅
The pace and direction of this sequence is incredible. Master class in directing and editing (and acting of course). Idk if the director got an award for it but I hope she did.
When I think back, a lot of my favorite scenes involved Hank. Maybe cause the drama always seemed to converge on his story
Dude the second twin was able to see hank was reloading the gun
And yet did nothing for that
That's absurd
Showing the fear and adrenaline rush that he experienced. Like that "before a battle being half the fight" thing was done perfectly here. Amazing acting. Unbelievable
This scene showed that Hank’s badass persona and how he carries himself wasn’t just an act. He talked the talk but he walked the walk.
The axe sticking up in the asphalt is goofy as hell lmao
But damn is it a rather amusing effect
I used to live in Florida. In the summer the asphalt would get so hot and loose it would come up stuck to the bottom of my shoes. Hot asphalt is soft.
He's bald, bravo Vince!
@lik-zf5xx Wrong video bud.
@lik-zf5xxget outta here with that shit
@lik-zf5xxallah can SOCK ME
Hank was really the only genuine good person out of the main cast.
@lik-zf5xx No thank you. UNSUBSCRIBE.
He's the worst one.
I haven't seen many shootout scenes with these much facial expressions, these actors are way too talented, they can convey tension, stress, anxiety of a situation just by their eyes.
4:57 that's some really sharp axe.
It's new mexico in the summer, the asphalt is ripping hot (like 150-180°) and that makes it soft, the axe doesn't even need to be sharp
also hank must've gotten burned like hell

Why didn't the first twin jump out of the way of the car? Seemed to be he had enough time, plus being the professionals that they are
Years later, this scene still is amazing to rewatch 🙌
I'm on the opposite end. I'm never actually seen the show and viewing it free of nostalgia or bias, and it was kinda lame tbqh. I know Breaking Bad is not an action show so I'm judge it too harshly. But those were some inept assassins.
Just realized this is season 3 episode 7, and the attack happens at 3:07pm
3:08 actually
Attack happens at 3:08. Which is another motif of the show. Walt's house number is 308 Negra Arroyo Lane
Whenever you saw Hank’s teeth it was GAME ON.
My favorite scene on any show ever!! The build up is a work of art.
Yeah when the second guy avoided the easiest opportunity to kill Hank, that was so realistic
