Greetings, hello and welcome!
This is the second video that we have taking an early look at Cities: Skylines 2! This episode is focused around the creation of different types of public transit networks available in the game! In our next video we'll dive a little bit deeper and start using the trains and cargo!
When the game has it's full release we'll be making a ton of tutorials to help you get your own transit empires rolling! But in the mean time hopefully this is enough to keep you going :)

Something about Jedi's videos are so calming.
Whats annoying about trams is that while they are bidirectional now, the icon for unconnected tram rail still shows up 😅 no getting rid of it
I completely forgot about that mechanic while making this video! I'll showoff that feature next episode!
Public transit is my fav part of the game i was eagerly waiting for your video on it 😊

By the way, ImperialJedi, if you haven't realised yet, you could make reversible tram stations like regular train stations and metros. You just need to use the road with median as the base.

You don't have to create a turnaround point for trams they will just stop and drive the other way

The trams look soooooo much better in CS2 than they did in CS1

You added a bus STATION, but I think you need a bus DEPOT to actually get vehicles for your routes?
taxi stands cost upto 400 and no upkeep, while bus station taxi stands cost 12000 and 7000 upkeep!?

Can different lines for buses, trams, metro and trains share stops?
Unfortunately not :(
Only the same type of transit vehicle can share a stop. Otherwise taxis need their own, trams need their own and buses need their own stops.
The train stations can accept regional rail or local lines :)
@@ImperialJedi right, that’s what I meant, like for example if I want multiple subway lines can some of them share the same stop?
@nichols15 yes of course, multiple of the same type can.
Also, for example bus and tram stops can also be on the same road, just that they wont share the exact specific shelter/stop

I need to do more planning for my transport!
I find so many of my bus routes are just not being used. Like 5% usage and I am unsure why! Some are from the busiest areas, yet one route that does a little housing area has the most usage.
Perhaps it’s education or wealth of the area!

Don't be mislead by the lack of intercity rail lines: if you can buy enough tile permits to get to the edge of the map you can draw out a train line to it to get out-of-town connections for both freight and passenger traffic.

I already love the game, but I´m not sold, until they add proper road textures to match snow and rain. imo, it breaks the immersion of weather effects on traffic and accidents occuring.
Сделали бы так, чтобы автобусы и трамваи, например если маршрут например 100, то если 2 трамвая , они катались друг от друга на одинаковом расстоянии. Между ними расстояние было 50. Если 3 трамвая то по 33 , если 4 трамвая , то 25. Чтобы интервал был одинаковый. А не так, чтобы ты запустил 6 трамваев, а они друг за другом катаются, а остальное пространство все пустое

I think I only ever used a Taxi when I'm in as a tourist in some other city and have no other way of getting where I need to be. In my home town I would not use a Taxi at all. So at least for me, the CS 1 way of "only tourists seem to use them" seems more realistic. (But I might not be quite representative.)
Do you think you could give a tutorial on the best routes for each transit mode? Like buses as local service, trams and subways for serving large areas, and ships connecting islands like in Archipelago Haven for example
I've been so excited for this game for months, only to find out yesterday that it will be delayed to spring or even possibly June for console FFS!!!

Is 'eh?' the new 'like?' I'm impressed with the new road tools but other issues make me feel I won't be doing a lot of playing until we get workshop assets. Maybe some mods -- won't know until we see the release version -- but especially assets.

The game has definitely made some huge QoL improvements from a vanilla players perspective but I agree - I think some service building variety would be nice and a few big name mods feel like they'd fit perfectly with the game.

I don't know of any real city under 50,000 that actually has regular mass transit services... Granted this is a game, but I try to base most of my city building on pseudo realism...

And the only reason that’s the case has nothing to do with population count. Smaller cities don’t have the budget and thus can’t afford proper public transportation. Ideally every single city should have mass transit options for the sake of traffic control, quality of life for the people and to cut down on emissions from cars. But, as with most things in this world, money makes it difficult to do exactly what should be done.
@@TheSCPStudio considering the average distance most Americans travel for work, the logistics of trying to get groups of people from the same residential to different commercial/industrial/office areas, in the real world it just doesn't make sense. In my area (multiple smaller towns of 5K-25K population), the only mass transit is busses going from lower income neighborhoods to shopping (WalMart) and back. Granted for a video game, it is highly simplified and made unrealistic, so have fun with it.

Because they are just busses so not needed.
@@lisekiilstofte5619 there is a difference between buses and trolleybuses, so they are needed, even big cities are reopening traffic, such as Prague.

I would doublecheck your playback/video quality settings in the TH-cam Player as the video quality seems good on my end.
