- In this classic double bill, join Nath and Trev as they take their first outing to Snowdonia, hiking both Snowdon and Tryfan.
Flattening the curve of the boredom of self-isolation, Summit or Nothing presents 2 classic episodes in one fantastic video. From 2017, this adventure took place over the August bank holiday weekend and is features two of Snowdonia's most popular mountains, the popular Snowdonia and the mighty Tryfan, two very different mountains, and two very different hikes. Congestion on one day and nondescript boulder fields the next.
We took the Rangers path up Snowdon, in glorious sunshine with thousands of hikers enjoying the bank holiday, the following day the mist rolled in and we almost got completely lost on Tryfan.
Summit or Nothing is a great hiking channel, with Trev and friends documenting their conquests and outdoor adventures of hiking, mountain hiking and wild camping in some of the UK's most beautiful National Parks. So SUBSCRIBE now to keep up to date with our hiking vlog!

The old summit or nothing , it is crazy how far you've come in the last few years . You are amazing youtubers so once this has all died down I cannot wait to see what's coming
Thanks very much for rewatching - this was a hard mountain - it is amazing how my fitness levels got better by the time we did Ben Nevis.... probably dwindling again now. All the best and stay safe!
seen this twice now a classic video, was up there 35 years ago three or four times times in three years, a different world then no queing only a few people on there think we did ,pig track, rydu, miners and rangers also train, awesome video gents
Yea - this was a bank holiday weekend about five years ago - I can only imagine that post covid its a different kettle of fish once again. Its good that people have found the hiking bug but a shame that all the honeyspots are so overcrowded.
Really loved watching this one holds special memories for me an a special place in my ❤ well in nath an trev for doing this
Brand new to this hiking and wild camping business, I started in The Cheviot Hills and got lost right out of the gate !! Inspired by your videos and determined to carry on learn and do more. Thanks so much guys.
Snowdon - Crib Goch route up, give summit a miss and come back round the horse shoe, normally a lot less bodies. Also Tryfan add on the Glyders to make a loop, take in the cantilever and I think the palace of wind, its an easier decent. cheers lads, love the vids
Lesson No.1: Snowdon is a great mountain but not on a Bank Holiday; Lesson No.2: That wasn't a good day to do Tryfan! Great video though! The Ranger Path is usually very quiet with, as you so rightly said, excellent views and well done for even getting to Tryfan's summit in those conditions, I'd have stayed on the A5, or in Cwm Tryfan at the most - perhaps jumping Adam & Eve is easier when you can't see the drop! Look forward to watching more of your adventures!
I did 3 peaks really didn't enjoy the company totally spoiled the whole experience....hes parked up now 🤣.out of all of them Snowdon was just too hectic.i really want to do a Dartmoor hike overnight but I don't want to go solo it's great you guys have got each other
Loved the vlog, you guys are crazy at times but so watchable
Cheers Gary - thanks for watching!
Wow can't believe that was 2016, didn't realise i'd been following you for that long. Check back on my walks and remember being just in front of you submitting Scafell Pike and Ben Navis. Keep up the great work mate, love the vlog and stay safe in the coming months. SUMMIT OR NOTHING. (Still miss Nate)
I think you're right Steve, it was 2016 not 2017.... Here's been doing this longer than I thought. Can't wait to get back out and get back on the trail. Take care buddy.
...great vid
Keep them coming 🌴🌴🌴🌴👍
Thanks - can't wait to get out and create more content!
Great to see those treks again, and Nath's sense of humour!
Cheers Steve, thanks for watching again.
Keep sharing them 😎
Will do - as long as you keep watching them :-D
Its almost as crowded as Everest, we just can't get away from it all .
Tis pretty busy up there, yes!
Great video. Looked like a quality if testing couple of days.
Great vid chaps. I agree the summit of Snowdon is often an odd place to be when you feel summits should be lonely and isolated places! When I have been up there on a busy day I do feel strangely out of place! You certainly added a few miles on that ascent and descent of Tryfan lol. One of the quicker ascents is to park a bit closer toward Idwal Cottage on the left (below Milestone Buttress on Tryfan) then left through a swing stile gate. The path follows the base of Tryfan on the east side where I think you had planned to go originally? Although you did have crap visibility and a lot of the paths meander all over the place! Enjoyed the gentle banter between the pair of you although I suspect it was more colourful off camera? 😂
Asking for a friend is Snowdonia in England /Wales lol.....No mention of England in this one 😂....no slip of the Tongue .....Good video though well done
😂😂😂😂
Fantastic video Trev, I was hoping to do Snowdon this summer, if able to I’ll go early on a work/school day to avoid the crowds, kind of loses its magic when it looks like a queue for a theme park!
Yeah, there's a time and a place to do Snowdon.... August bank holiday is definitely not that time!
Absolutely brilliant. Reminded me of when I did it with a friend. We didn’t get to the top due to bad weather but we had a bloody good go 😊 thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching, Craig! Sorry to hear that you didn't quite make it but bloody good go for trying.
Loved those videos you made with Nath. We're all missing the wide open spaces. Walking around the block hasn't got the same appeal. I went up Snowdon about 50 years ago in my gym daps and wearing a cloak in November with a bloke I'd only met the night before at the youth hostel. I had a bit of a panic on the steepest bit, but we made it. I insisted on coming down on the train though!
Haha! I had a friend who went up with his wife, it was miserable, wet, windy day, and she moaned all the way up and said the same, "we're going down on the train". When they got to the top she went to buy the tickets, and he said she saw the prices, turned around and said,"Put your coat back on we're walking!" Stay safe and thanks for rewatching!
Nice job!
Great look back at Snowon... Of course the crowd would have turned me back... Other than the crowd a great summit indeed.. The Tayfan climb weather was typical Summit or Nothing...LOL Don't know how you managed to navigate at all without being able to see to shoot a damn bearing. This is the first time I saw the Tryfan climb... Excellent work gents.... To Nath!! When are you going to rejoin Trev??? Get the team back together.
Cheers Max. Glad that you enjoyed this double bill. Hoping to get some more up shortly and also, fingers crossed we will be seeing more of Nath at some point once this storm passes.
@@SummitOrNothing Good news for sure Trev. Not that you have not been doing an awesome job on your own.. Just that the two of you make such a good team!
Hi guys well done with the channel, well done with your progress just started watching your channel and like that its different to a lot of other outdoor channels, keep it up and may see you on Dartmoor one day
fav route up snowdon is Watkins path but only do Snowdon out of season and mega early.
Hi Mark. Thanks so much for your comment. Glad that you're enjoying our channel. Cheers!
Great video Trev. Did the same school boy error and went to Snowdon on the May bank holiday last year to get a bit of solitude as it was the first anniversary of a friends passing. How long I was there must have been the same amount of people there then. Went up the Pyg track which has the most amazing views and is mega tough. Got to about 200yards from the trig. After waiting an hour had enough and just came down. It was the most beautiful scenery I have seen.
forgot to say Trev, hope you and the clan are safe and well. Stay safe chap and this will all be over hopefully soon.
Yeah, its a busy mountain at the best of times, but not surprisingly so. As you say, it's beautiful. I should think after this is over it will be even busier. Thanks for watching!
And the same to you and yours, Dennis. Stay safe!
I have never seen your earlier hikes Trev. Very nice. Where is your buddy Nath at now
Ah, well I'll be glad to post some more up in the next coming weeks for you. Spoke to Nath briefly the other night, and he's doing ok, thanks. Hoping to have him join me for an adventure or two once this blows over.
love your vids makes me want to get out more, been watching summit or nothing for a while now here on the mid north coast of Australia. Hope we all get out sooner rather than later, if you get bored check out scotty,s gone walkabout he does some awesome hikes here downunder.
Cheers, Jason. Thanks for watching, and really glad that you are enjoying the videos. I will check out Scotty's channel, thanks. All the best and keep safe! Be out before we know it!
Brilliant, but still think Austria is the way , next summer maybe
Yea - Austria would no doubt be amazing!
@@SummitOrNothing if I could would send some pictures
Nice one trev 👍
Ive been up the North ridge of tryfan and over bristly ridge a couple times as a kid with my dad.
Haven't got the bottle for it any more though me and stu bottled it half way up the north ridge a couple years ago lol
Take care budy 😃
Yea, I know what you mean. North Ridge looks a bit too hairy for me too. Still would love to get back up there at some point and walk the glyders . Take it easy Dean! Hang in there.
Snowdon is a very overrated hill in my opinion , I much prefer the glyders & carneddue , much more spacious & wilder
