    Eric, great video. I am a city councilor in Gloucester, MA and seeing how other FD operate is interesting and extremely educational. People/constituents depend on FD at sometimes the lowest point in their lives. Very important to have men and women ready and able to answer the call. @@WorkingFirePIO I'm in the UK and can say that these forms of Videos don't exist in the UK. There are the odd few of Ride Along types but that's all. Over here, the Fire and Ambulance Services are totally separate.
      Fire Service provision is operated by Regional Fire services across England, usually in County or Regional divisions. Some major cities, such as London will have their own dedicated Fire Service operation. Plus in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each of those has its own countrywide Fire Service. Fire Services across the UK are funded by Central and Regional governments and individual residential and business taxes raised at local level too.
      Emergency Ambulance cover is broken down to different Service provision as follows. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each country has its own Ambulance Service. However, in England, Emergency Ambulance cover is managed via 11 separate Regional Authorities, each wholly responsible for Emergency callouts in their control. Most will involve territories covering 100's of square miles in size, especially with some having major towns and cities located within them. The whole of London is covered by one of those 11 authorities, operating with almost 600 Emergency ambulances 24/7.
      Hospitals can also have separately individual fleets of vehicles, each carrying out the transfer of non emergency patients to and from hospitals, to and from patients homes, clinics and specialist centres.
      These authorities are funded by relevant Government funding, through the National Health Service.
      Hope this helps you see how it's covered over in the UK.

    • @WorkingFirePIO
      @WorkingFirePIO  ปีที่แล้ว

      The big orange truck was public works. I wasn't able to ask but I'm assuming the operator was removing garbage from the arroyo. Albuquerque Police have a "Public Service Aide" or PSA personnel. Their job description says, "Provide police service that otherwise would be lost or delayed because of workload saturation on sworn officers, relieve sworn officer of non-related or low priority police service so that they may pursue anti-crime activities more effectively. Collect and preserve physical evidence in the field; ensure the preservation of all items taken into evidence and testify in court regarding the chain of custody and integrity of evidence."

      There's usually an online staffing system and list of firefighters who signed up to work overtime that day, if they're needed. If no one signed up to potentially work, usually there's a mandatory overtime list that starts with personnel who haven't volunteered for overtime in a while. Some departments hard staff every seat and others may drop from 4 personnel to 3 personnel and not mandatory someone in.

    I always wonder what it’s like when you all are working out and then a call happens. What if you guys workout and then are too weak during a hard call is that a thing or do you guys try not to go too hard?

    So they have a rescue and a medic unit on the same call

      it's a Privatized Ambulance Company that's contracted based, it helps relieve the load from City Fire on Ambo runs, think of it like AMR running medical calls even though City or County Fire has their Ambulances. Having a Privatized Ambulance Service helps with relieving call volumes of service, quicker medical service responses and in most case a less expensive alternative

      Yes, as part of the tiered response plan a Medic unit and a Rescue unit will respond to specific levels of EMS calls.

      That makes no damn sense to have a rescue and a med unit on the same damn scene especially when you have a private ambulance company coming
