- Let's Try Extreme Hydro Dipping for the first time. Hydrodipping is like acrylic pour or nail art marbling but with everyday items and spray paint. This art craft form is really fun for unique DIYs. I hydro dipped shoes, cap, squishy, and more. I used tulip fabric spray paint and rust-oleum brands.

@@sophielawlor9636 I didn't think anywhere got to 70C, I'm not even sure that's survivable. Darwin Australia is right near the equator and in an Aussie summer they can get up to 50C but I don't think parts of Africa that are right on the equator reach 70C.

Vancouver is exactly like Seattle, same climate zone as North Carolina. Baffin island gets down to -60 in the winter.

I just wanted to note that in the 80s my brother used to use acrylic paint to make completely custom Chuck Taylor all stars and when he would do this, the shoes were completely dry, non sticky and would last for a year before it started fading. Then he would buy another pair and repeat. Thank you for reminding me of this today!!

Dip at an angle rather than straight down, you'll get better coverage. Anything that's shiny needs to be primed. You can sand then use a spray primer.
Try hydrodipping with a hydrodip film, that's also really cool.

You probably wont see this, but It's be a rough couple of years for me, Sometimes my depression gets so bad I feel like I don't know how to be happy anymore. Theres something about your channel that always makes me smile. I don't buy craft kits, and I'm not specifically interested in a lot of these crafts but I would watch you do anything because you have this energy and presence that just makes me feel less sad. I haven't done hydro dipping, but I've done marbling. I use easy marble by marabu and you can dip anything almost. We've also done large sheets of paper as posters with Suminagashi.

Hydro horror story:
I'm fairly young, 16, and my friend's older brother asked me to tape off a little plastic box cutter (without the razor). This was so he could hydro dip it in teal and black paint without worrying about messing up the inside. I've never been around spray paint before and was trying to put the nub? Back on and blasted teal paint all over their table and across my phone. Most of it came off but my shattered screen will forever be traumatized.
TLDR: I should not be trusted with spray paint

Tip for future videos for you Jackie: if you don't want an area to have color while doing a project, put tape over it. Do not put office tape on the item, put masking tape, painters tape, or any other type of heavy duty tape. Hopes this helps you in future videos! :D

Seriously, using spray paint inside is really really dangerous, and that mask you used was almost useless. You need a mask against gas.
Also, please make sure that spray paint is not poisonous to birds

Me having horrible asthma got triggered by her.
One needs a mask rated for organic Vapors when using spray paint, you should not be able to smell anything with it on, if you can smell the paint then the mask is useless and the paint is harming you. I do hope that the door was closed and the room ventilated out a window before it was opened because even something as seemingly harmless as air fresheners and scented candles can harm a parrot let alone spray paint fumes.

I actually got the supplies to fabric hydrodip back in June because all the tie dye was sold out and I've yet to do it XD. It's too late for me to return the paint so I guess I'll just get shoes for dipping! So glad I watched this video before making anything.

Pool noddles as forms for the socks, and a frame for the cap. The hat looks straight out of the Splatoon game. I'm fairly sure you can hydro-dip with acrylic paint too, it's just marbling.
The faster the better. Don't let the paint dry if you can help it. So get the paint all in there quickly, and do the dipping immediately after.

The little bumps you started getting after the first dip, is because of the chunks in the water from the dried paint. You need to skim and clean the surface water before adding the new wet paint. A screen of some sort would work! That way the new paint doesn't pick up the drying chunks in the water when you push an object into it. The chunks were just getting trapped under the new paint!

Anything plastic has a hard shine or a "finished gloss" try wiping the plastic down with acetone or the vinyl soles of shoes too or sand them. Paint doesn't stick on shiny surfaces!!!

When you discover a new channel and tell yourself, "Just one video before bed," and pretty soon it's 2 hours later.
Jackie, when hydro dipping plastics or surfaces with a slick surface the results are much better if you rough up the surface with a fine grit sandpaper before dipping. This also helps with with the paint not separating. Hope this helps. Enjoyed this video.
