I think I can see why the song was given the arrangement for release as the strings really bring out the sadness of the song. Which luckily went over everyones head back in the day or it would never have been so popular. Genius at work here, not just musically but understanding the market when you have to. ❤

On my channel, I upload remixes of her work. I started with longer mixes of all the singles, and now I'm doing different songs from her albums and B-sides.

I agree with many of the comments here that describe this as a spectacular instrumental rendition with Kate's voice sounding as beautiful as ever.
