Well when you run do you take lots of steps when you run fast or do you take fewer steps? If you take more steps then you want the Edge, if you take less because you open up your stride then you need the Sky. I'm an Edge man myself as I've only got little legs 😂
Kofuzi suggested that if you're a heel striker the Edge is better. If you are a front foot striker the Sky feels better. The Sky's plate is closer to the foot and is more propulsive when you strike with the front. The Edge's plate is closer to the outsole so it feels softer but not propulsive enough at the front.

Best solution by far is to try them both on a store and test thoroughly. You’ll know if the difference is as obvious as it was with the last iteration. Seems like the comparison might be very different, though, with these new versions.
Meta Speed Sky Paris is significantly lighter than competitors inc Alpha Fly and Saucony Endorphin Elite. It has more foam under the forefoot as it’s only a 5mm drop rather than the 8mm drop AND ASICS have changed the foam so it’s more responsive which if correct is likely to make it similar in it’s property to Powerrun PB. Interesting!
BITR said they previously liked the SKY. But with this new version they would go for the EDGE. All very confusing 😒. All good for elites who can thoroughly test both shoes, but for us mere mortals asics is making it very difficult.
Never sure that I have been in the right asics shoe yet. Loved the original Sky and my Half Marathon PB is still in that shoe (I also ran what was a Marathon PB in it at the time at Riga Marathon 2022). The Sky+ did not suit me as much as I found it harder work for me to hit the sweet spot with the added foam which they placed under the ball of the foot. Looking at the two new shoes I am again seeing possibly too much foam on the Sky and it also looks less aggressive in the toe-off area than previous versions. The new version of the Edge looks a more interesting shoe to me now. I probably increase my cadence as much as my stride when picking up the pace, surely all runners do to some degree? Will hopefully get to try both pairs for a short blast on the treadmill at the Paris Marathon Expo..
