This is really terrific. I’m a twenty year educator (of adults) and I really appreciate your clarity, simplicity and the subtle encouragement inherent in this approach that continually implies “this isn’t hard, you can absolutely do this. I will help make it easy.” And indeed, you do. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Easily the clearest, most straightforward and music jargon free explanation I've seen of these concepts since I started learning a few months ago. Thank you, that has tempted me to go for one of your courses. Quality lesson for a beginner like me, great ! :-)
As someone who's taken YEARS of music theory courses, I think this video is an AWESOME way to teach beginners the basics of music theory! 20/10 recommend!
I've learned more from watching 2 hours of your content than from countless hours of hanging out with "musicians and artists" and trying to ask them questions.
Amazing. I've just started producing and have been struggling to understand this and boom, 30 minutes and completely got it! I hope you keep them coming! Best teacher ever.
This is the simplest and most straight forward explanation of fundamental music theory I have seen. Outstanding presentation of content. I also appreciate how the concepts have been pared down to their key elements in order to simplify the concepts and facilitate ready understanding on a base/core level. Any and all other details of music theory can be investigated and explored easily with a foundation built on the knowledge presented in this video. Very impressive overview for half an hour of video.
Ahh I'm happy to read this. I made this video when I had basically zero video editing skills still, so I think it could be made even more streamlined, but I love that it's connecting with people.
Man, Oscar you are such a good teacher. I’ve had a few starts and stops in my life learning music (through a few instruments, never really mastering any one), but I’ve never truly “got it” in terms of basic music theory like this. Looking at the colour oremotion of the music as related to the theory is fundamental, but no one teaches it in the beginning this way. Doing so makes it so much more easily consumed. Thank you! I shall go “smush.”
I have taken college music theory, and within five minutes you taught me what I learned throughout weeks of that course…it all makes more sense to me described in this way. Kudos! Thank you!
This is - hands down - the most hand on approach I've seen when it comes to the fundamentals of music theory. Great visualization and explanation in this vid!
was teaching some music theory 20 years back when playing in garage rock band and now when thinking about restart my hobby i'm so lucky to find this video. massive thank you.
Hej, I’m producing electronic music since 2008 and learned about harmonies by my self while using my ears for harmonic tones but since I’m watching your classes many things changed in my music productions. I wanna say thank you for your classes and time to share your expertise. Best greetings from Berlin.
Learning Music theory was easily one of the most daunting things that was holding me back from actually making sense of the kind of music I wanted to create. Which notes where the right ones to use and having structure in a song etc. Literally learned this during my lunch break and can't thank you enough! 😀
Omg THANK YOU. I've been wanting to try music and fl studio for years. Finally gave in and got fl studio and have had some fun with it. Made a little lofi song which I'm actually pretty happy with. Watched a lot of tutorials about it. But omg this video is the simplest and clearist video on music theory I've watched and I feel like I've learnt so much just from this vid.
I'm a complete novice to music theory. I learned more in the first 10 minutes of this video than I have in the last 10 years. Your videos are extremely concise and well done. You've definitely earned my subscription.
Having made electronic music for the last couple of years with absolutely no formal training and very little music theory knowledge, (I've managed to get a feel for keyboard playing through a lot of trial and error). I've always felt intimidated by watching music theory videos as it seems to be some kind of dark art that I was worried I'd not understand. So glad I watched this video, as it's helped to consolidate some of the self taught stuff and made me realise it's not so scary, and actually I'm over half the way there, now I can understand the basics. Thanks for making this video. Your teaching style is so accessible, kudos to you!
its definitely not a dark art but a journey which can be very rewarding once you understand the basics, I spent many years at college and I'm still learning every day, it's an ongoing process
This is an absolutely genius explanation. Simple, clear and easy to understand. I've seen most of the stuff before but usually buried in hours of arcane jargon. You deserve a bucket full of medals for this video alone.
Thanks for the great tutorial you made it interesting and not boring and i appreciate that. I was with you up until inversions lol so that's something i'll need to dive deeper into. But just really wanted to say cheers for making this.
I learned to play by ear and have no musical tuition background at all... I completely have an understanding of notes and octaves, flat and sharp keys, but this has really helped me join up some dots... fabulous video and thankyou so much for this, it has helped a lot! Could have really done with this back in the early 90's making bedroom dance music, with my 2 mates and loads of ideas.
This is my third video i see from you and i feel i learn more in this videos than in my 30 years of playing... you earned my subscription. Thank's for sharing your passion with us
I've been following this channel for a month and I feel I've learned more than I ever did on two years I've been studying music production by myself, hope I'll be able to partake on Underdog's class one day, thank you for your knowledge Oscar!
I've tried to understand this watching many videos, but I always got lost in the process. But not with this video. Very clear breakdown and explained in a way that is not too technical but very practical. Thanks!
I just discovered your Channel Oscar, months ago and I learned a lot!! Thank you so much, for sharing your knowledge with us! I can´t wait to join your music school! Gracias por todo!
I can´t thank you enough for this piece of high quality education! Really great work. Helped me alot in understanding music theory and made me more excited for exploring the topic further and deeper.
I mean you broke down major and minor in ways I just “get” compared to anything I have looked at before. Brilliant break down of what I perceived as complex concepts into easy to digest chunks. Thank you.

Love it 😁
what to add except another thank you! 🙏
His courses are really good! Did you end up doing one?
Late comment but yes, outstanding ability to explain concepts and get people creating!
Wonderful - thank you!
Your way of explaining chord inversions as just a move in note octaves is probably the easiest to grasp I've come across. Major thanks
As someone who's taken YEARS of music theory courses, I think this video is an AWESOME way to teach beginners the basics of music theory! 20/10 recommend!
I’ve never seen this explained in such a simple way. This channel has great content!
Great instructor here. Best class on this that I have seen so far.
I've learned more from watching 2 hours of your content than from countless hours of hanging out with "musicians and artists" and trying to ask them questions.

Totally same!
Beginning the binge… ah yeah me too . But… a rabbit hole that’s enjoyable
I have been 15 years making music as an amateur by ear. You clearly have a talent for teaching, thank you

Hats off to you!! You are a very talented teacher! 👏
24:15 I like the subtle pause before saying "head wreck for a beginner", where the words "mind fuck" must have been the first choice.
Just came across your channel. You explain everything very clearly. Very good stuff sir.
This video clarifies a lot of questions, that came up over the years. Extremely helpful. Thank You.
