Everything in this flashback that full of lore that Heisuten really love and want to know for so long was planned by Oda, frankly said Oda himself said he really loves and appreciated One Piece Community especially because there's a wiki databook about all of his characters and powers, islands, hints/clue from previous arcs and unsolved mysteries
this is one of many main factors why One Piece can have a very deep and complicated lore but somehow Oda can manage to keep it on track by keep looking back to his old works that fans already collected and put it together into a beautiful story telling where everything is connected
The 968 is literally the best episode of one piece

You have a good point for saying that Roger may be stronger than WB. But also remember that Whitebeard did not use his devil fruit powers. He went at it with Roger who happens to have the greatest Haki in the series so far.
I'm in neither camp on this love em both,but gotta point out in white beards prime Roger was dying of turbo mega disease and could still keep up
With his level of haki I don't know if wb's devil fruit would really do something to roger
@@roronoauchiha69 WBs df isn’t the type that can be negated by Haki. Only DFs that affect the body can be negated by Haki. Like the sick sick fruit turning one into the opposite sex. The love love fruit as well.
WBs tremor tremor doesn’t transform the body, it just delivers shockwaves, so it would be just as useful against Roger as it would against anyone else

Roger's ambition was to reach the final island, not to become Pirate King. In Roger's time there was no title of Pirate King, Roger was only named that after he reached the Laugh Tale.

I didn’t really find it depressing, I found it very wholesome how they knew he was dying but still enjoyed their final journey with Roger. think about it like this. “Roger was terminally ill and chose to spend whatever time he had left on an adventure laughing and singing with his crew.”

yeah but luffy had tools like "guide" where to go. for roger, raftel could be anywhere. it could even be in east blue for all he knows. also the whole existence of raftel was non existent, so roger probably had harder time than luffy, he had to search and learn stuffs for 13 years or so.
