    Nothing will beat the old video that took us through the evolution of Qantas. We could connect to that and it was engaging - isn’t that the purpose of such a video? This is convoluted, confusing and features other countries and mainly people who have Left Australia. Luckily I fly a lot, otherwise I would have no idea of the safely features as 9.5 minutes is tedious and is more like a short film about expats than safety information. I can’t imagine how much money was spent on the production of this epic, but you’ve missed the mark in my opinion. Take a look at Singapore Airlines safety video for the gold standard.

      I can tell you pricing just for the ferry scene towards the end was probably over $1,500/hour and they hired the ferry for about 5 hours in mid 2023.

    It’s way too long and the safety message gets lost in the advertisement and the subliminal messaging Qantas loves. Passengers will not be able to maintain attention for almost 10 minutes. The JAL airlines accident is a lesson; well trained cabin crew and well briefed passengers on what’s required in an evacuation.

    Given the recent incident involving JAL at Haneda, I had a look at their safety video. It’s HALF the length of this one, bilingual, and clearly showed what you needed to do (and what might happen if you don’t).
    I’m convinced that JAL’s concise and to-the-point safety video contributed to a successful evacuation without anyone holding up the cabin taking out luggage.
    Sadly with this video it’s so long and indirect I fear people will tune out after the first minute, especially regular fliers.

    • @AlfAllen-pv4kn
      @AlfAllen-pv4kn 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Totally agree 7681! QF have learnt nothing from JAL's incredibly successful evacuation. This has 'Alan Joyce' all over it. Same old, same old. Such a lost opportunity to 'reset'!

      @delightfullyyummy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Perhaps the unpopular opinion for the moment, but the idea of having this kind of safety video is to get the audience engaged.
      Passengers often ignore generic safety videos. They're on their phone, computer, or otherwise mentally not present. That's why you have most major airlines (Singapore, Malaysian, British, Air NZ, Qantas) try and make something that people will pay attention to.
      I do agree this one is very long though, which may result in it having the opposite effect. There needs to be a balance.
      FYI the Qantas one is bilingual on flights to certain destinations.

    The video is visually magnificent and must have cost a fortune to create, which I personally censure for the following reason.
    Given Qantas's recent shameful (bordering on fraudulent) treatment of its frequent flyer customers and Alan Joyce feathering his nest during this contentious period, the video smacks of smoke and mirrors. I was one of Qantas's victims, losing a significant amount of frequent flyer points during the Covid epidemic when it was impossible to travel. All attempts to reach them and redress my complaint were totally ignored. Also the actual safety directives are lost in this too long but captivating video.

      @@lundimardi1975 Trust me, just one scene cost close to $10,000 to produce I believe. The ferry scene, although local, was very costly. They hired the Freshwater, the harbour's biggest and oldest ferry which costs quite a lot to operate. They chartered the vessel for about 4-6 hours in June 2023 in the afternoon and sailed it in loops of the main harbour all for that one shot.

Its a cool concept, but it just lacks a consistent vibe throughout, the music is boring and the vid does not really climax anywhere, and, it feels less 'aussie' compared to the other ones. Wheres the iconic "g'day, and welcome to qantas"? Whilst previous vids I would proudly say were best in the industry by far, I feel that this one just isn't at the level of the others. Hopefully a better one next year...

    This is a stunning and beautiful production, but sadly you have buried the safety information in amongst lots of other information that looks like a TV show or movie. You are showing the life jacket on a boat? The information should be given in a clear and concise manner. This requires our attention for almost 10 whole minutes, and only a third of that is safety information. You didn't show how taking luggage can destroy the evacuation slide and block the access.

    I honestly think the old one is so much better. I would expect this to be a flight center ad not a Qantas safety video. I get where this coming from but it’s not really about the places it’s about the airline. I think Qantas should ask for ideas from the public. They also need more Australian cities it’s an Australian airline not a Mexican airline or whatever
    The only bit I Found cool was the Hollywood bit.

    Can see a few more flight delays coming up as safety video won't complete in the time when taxiing, except of course the long trip to Sydney's 34R runway. Great that it highlights some of Qantas' destinations but I agee with the previous comment more focus on what to do in an unlikely accident or event. I often wonder if JAL had happened in a western country how many would have perished due to our self entitled and selfish western ways.

    Very good video, visually pleasing that's for sure. That said, like many others have already stated, it seems like a tourism advert, plus it is a little long. I'm not sure that you'll be able to capture everyone's attentions for that length of time.

    As someone who has seen the evolution and change of the QANTAS safety video over the years, this one unfortunately does not make it onto my favourite list. Whilst I do respect what QANTAS are trying to get across by showing people of a diverse backgrounds and showing off different destinations the primary purpose of this video being about safety is lost and way to hard to follow. Bring back the previous QANTAS safety video celebrating 100 years was perfect and on point.

    The Wiggles can categorise the following parts of this new safety video:
    - Simon and Caterina host the seatbelt part.
    - Lachy and John host the oxygen mask part.
    - Anthony and his daughter, Lucia, host the brace positions, the escape paths, the emergency exit techniques, the importance of not smoking, and the preparation for takeoff.
    - Tsehay and Evie host the life jacket part.
