      I was hoping for at least some seating options, but I guess the idea is that it’s a space away from the seats to stand and get your blood circulating on these ultra long-hauls. That said, I still think a small bench like Emirates’ A380 bar would have been nice to see. It will make the whole experience worth charging the premiums these passengers will be charged.

    • @gluecksdrache2054
      @gluecksdrache2054 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rjmacf0015 I think you can make an estimation yourself. In comparison to (let's round it a bit) 2 * 11 hour flight there are some differences. The "first 11 hour" segment has nearly the same costs. For the "second 11 hour" segment you are not able to refuel so you have to carry the fuel all the way with you. So the weight of 11 hours * 900 kilometers per hour * estimated 4 litre per seat and 100 kilometers -> it's about 396 litres of kerosine which you fly through the air instead of tanking at an airport. Additionally you have additional crew and can't sell nearly any cargo on that flight.
      Naturally the calculation is a bit different for the more square feet consuming Business and First Class seats but you can calculate with a hefty surcharge.
      Naturally if I would fly on that route and as an airline enthusiast I would buy it. But 3 days a week for years.
      I am not sure if it is the technical fascination which let's Qantas start this project or if any person doing the calculations have overseen it.

      @@gluecksdrache2054 Thank you for that interesting and helpful reply. I have a personal interest as I have flown from the UK to Australia return 38 times over about 15 years in every class and know the routine rather well. I have done this mostly (but not always) with one airline which was not Qantas. The reason was that the Qantas passenger offering frankly was just not the best so this is a huge upgrade in aircraft choice and seating. As far as the route is concerned you'll know this is Sydney/Per/LHR for now at least. This is better than a non European touch down for 2 hours. Given the costs for this travel will always be very high it will be of great interest to see where this eventually fits given all carriers to and from Australia adding considerably to their pricing in the post COVID period. We shall see!

    I'm surprised they're still doing economy class on such long routes, instead of going with Singapore's approach with the cheapest class being PE. Those economy seats shouldve never been given as an option on 12+ flights in the first place 😭 it just feels inhumane

    That premium economy bucket seat looking design, seems rather old school and bulky. Love the design language, at some areas remind me of Etihad colour palate. First and business definitely a step up comparing to the current design! Overall, it's quite an upgrade with safe choices. Still feels somewhat lack behind Singapore Airlines and Ana's seat. Can't wait to try this new product!

  • @james7149
    @james7149 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Up front “yes”, Down back “No”…first thing that comes to mind for Economy is if your seat companion is asleep, (and you need to go to the chillout area) how do you get out from a window seat? It’s 2023 Qantas, surely aviation seat designers could come out with something more innovative than what you’ve shown for Economy? Sunrise flights will be economical for Qantas in overall costs, how about putting some of that profit back into your economy passengers experience?

  • @RiverDanube

    Economy chairs are becoming thinner and thinner, there's a likelihood that you can feel the movement of everyone in that row and the lack of cushioning is horrific for a long flight.

      @@GeminiMusicAustralia Thank you but that's not what I asked. In 2019 Qantas was talking about Project Sunrise from London to Sydney and NYC to Sydney. They shelved the idea during the pandemic. My question is, now have they brought it back for sure this time? If so, they decided to go with with the Airbus 350-1000 XWR? Boeing was majorly wooing Qantas trying to get them to buy the 777-XR. However, Boeing couldn't:
      1) Finish the 777-XR in time for Qantas' launch in 2025. Remember that Boeing is in major hot water right now with the 737-MAX. I don't think they have even thought of the 777-XR.

    can Qantas launch some more international routes, like Brisbane to Chicago? Our International terminal is so empty right now and it is hard to get anywhere overseas from Brisbane without having to go via Sydney. There is clearly a lot of demand at Brisbane again, its not like our borders are shut anymore. Besides, as many other airlines are overlooking Brisbane, if you guys launch more international flights out of Brisbane, then passengers will have no other competitive choice but to fly Qantas, so you get almost all the demand in one shot

    • @Matthew_M11

      Qantas does not own enough aircraft. They are squeezing hard their 20 year old A330s that can barely operate (severe weight restrictions) a BNE to LAX service

      @@electro_sykes Qantas always had a Syd - New York direct (with fuel stop) service before Covid operated by the 744s I believe. They are trying to get back to pre Covid operations I guess.

    • @electro_sykes
      @electro_sykes ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Matthew_M11 I think Qantas should just Withdraw from the Brisbane to LAX route once United launches its own service later this year. Those going from Brisbane to LA can just fly with them instead and Qantas won't have to worry about aircraft constraints. And they could also cut the Brisbane to Singapore Service, as Singapore Airlines also operates that Route, thus freeing up another A330. There problem solved
