I’ve ridden mtx bikes but never a super moto, looks like a real hoot. With regards to the brakes, ask ktm if the abs pump has to be bled by using an odb scanner tool to activate the solenoids in order to purge any air.
I'm lucky enough to have 2 of these a 2023 smcr and a 2019 enduro r the enduro r has 20,000 miles on only minor issues 2 oil seals have put 5000 miles on smc r so far so good. I have had both dealer serviced. The 2023 gear box and quick shifter is night and day better than 2019. Which like you I rarely use as can give false neutrals usually when overtaking. Can't recommend these both highly enough they seriously are so much fun on smaller roads
Take the brake calliper off, and master cylinder... Turn upside down, calliper in a vice and lver assembly on the floor. Start bleeding, air bubbles will rise up and out. Pressure bleeding with a pump will work wonders as well. Good luck lamb chop

Glad youre keeping it chops, I bought one off the back of your video series and i love it, i bought a tuono factory as my distance missile, I believe i have the best of both worlds.
Lots of goodies on that SMC-R; wonderful machine! I had the oil in my 2019 690 lab tested after 3,000 miles and overall good results with no signs of abnormal wear or contamination. Lab suggested that I could go with a 4,000 mile interval with no issue. I was running Motorex 10w50 Power Synt 4T.
Nice one chopsy , reminds me of the old mavis days in garage 😁😁😁. Can't beat the ktm / 701 sold mine on the there !!! Miss it already 🙁. Now watching this makes it feel worse ya bugger 😁 never had one single problem with the 701 in a few years and 7K miles .Great stuff . Keep it mate 👍👍

Surprised when you mentioned the quickshifter, I guess mine had the update being a 2022! The only thing it does poorly is without a positive up shift I can false neutral...usually when overtaking...
If its air in the mastercyliner for the front brake it often helps to bleed the banjobolt like its a bleed nipple. Dont need a nipple on the banjobolt, just bleed the bolt. Cover with cloths or something. It will squirt! 😅

I need help choosing a bike. I moved from super sports to supernakeds. Currently have 22 S1000R which I also track. I want to buy Supermoto for next season and wander between conversion of 450 or 690/701. All my riding gonna be street and track but I like to ride a lot and full days. Also I want to learn to wheelie 😅😂 I’m not a good mechanic btw but I’ve done oil changes on my gixer and all sorts of basic maintenance.

Chops what ever happened to the guy that was making a left hand bike for these? I know he made the thumb brake but have been waiting for an update from you on the rear hand brake??
Four thousand miles on one bike isn't much of a baseline for reliability. Never had any issues with baby brembo on the front of the 2016 Enduro, which is still happy to pull rolling endos after eight years and 14,000 miles. The 690 engine reliability is less of a shitshow than 790s and 890s, but not without common faults that KTM never corrects. The blingy little finned oil filter cover doesn't seem like a bad idea; would be curious to learn whether there's any data indicating measurable effectiveness.
Winter time we have too long to think about bikes, I have a 24 plate 690 and having test ridden the 698 mono I’m tempted to try it again. So Chopsy I’m wondering which bike you prefer? I know the 698 has more electronics but the 690 has more torque, which would win on a cart circuit?
Yeah very good question! I'm hopefully testing the Mono with the optional Termi soon and that will be the decider. Might even if the salt stays away doing a comparison with my 690 and the same mono so stay tunned! 👍
Fab mate yes I’ve seen so many comparisons on youtube between 690 and 698 and everyone talks about the specs which are already known and Chris Northover has done a great head to head for wheelies and on rough terrain but nobody has done a straight fair head to head, same weight riders rolling start race or a same rider stock against stock on a track timed? I want to find a dealer with a termi kit fitted to demo bike for sure.
I’d love one but I’m a one bike at a time person, been looking at them but not sure if it’ll be too impractical. Most of my riding is just local brapping, occasional track days, occasional dual carriageway

KTM makes me mad. They make OUTRAGEOUSLY fun bikes - I was about to purchase an 890 SMT last year, but their build quality, reliability and also their posture regarding their customers, policies such as "pay to unlock features" as if a bike is a bloody video game, etc, really give me pause. I'd love to have more trust in the brand; alas, I do not.

Too late, already bought one almost 3 years ago... 😬 lol
I have the smt, it’s been completely trouble free, my advice would be don’t listen to the moaners, quite often they’ve never had a ktm. 👊✊️✊️
Stay clear if in doubt
@svracing3 I will for sure, no doubt, but it's saddening. There's no denying the bikes are a riot... oh well...
@@cocky_potato I’ve had 2 now and said never again still find myself looking at them now and then but I know now don’t bother
Finally back lol.
Collectors bike
Daft comment but, have you bled the abs pump itself? Never owned a KTM but previous experience with abs systems suggest it may need doing. Just a thought.
No I haven't actually... Good idea 👍
I don't have any friends 😢
New one coming out in January 2025.
