Thank you! The flex drill extension is the way to go. I followed all your tips and they worked great. I had my daughter help, a lot easier for small hands/arms to reach in there!
You are the man! Your how to, shows in every detail what to do and gives pause for additional tools or suggestions. Love it. The meal/lunch with the Fam was the topper. Thank you kind sir.
THANK YOU! You are the first video to use a flex extension. I had given up because I couldn't get a good grip to get the bolts out on that same side. I have renewed hope. I ordered a flex extension and will try again. May you be blessed.

Great job. Had my 2016 camry at the dealership and they asked 120$ an hour to take the whole dashboard and plastics apart, it was 12 hour of job, so price asked was 12×120 :)) . of course I refused and tried to find someone like you. Great video, great knowledge of the job and I'm subscribed to the channel 👍👍👍
Thank you very much!! We have long winters and the door was stuck on cold! I just finished fixing it thanks to your video, it was easy, and worked like a charm!!!😊
I need to replace all 3! The one on the actual vent door, seemed to be the hardest until I look at your Video! I did exactly what you did and got it off and on in minutes! None on to the drivers side and I'll be done! Man these things are a PAIN! Lol. Thanks again for a GREAT VIDEO!
You are an amazing mechanic. I enjoy watching all your videos your family is fun to watch too! I have 01' ml320 & fixed my own window regulators watching you & friend fix his car, thank you & God bless you. Susan G
Good job on the repair, you need to recalibrate all the vent motors after one of the motors is replaced. Disconnect the positive battery cable and pull the fuse for the hva control module for one minute to make the module recalibrate the motors so they will last longer. Keep up the good work.
I've never even thought of trying to diy anything to do with my car. But the sound was driving me crazy and I didn't have 500 to fix it. Thank you for this video and also to the women who commented. I did it!
I really enjoy you videos. You work hard and get the job done. You are a lucky man to have such a nice family. Keep the videos coming, but first pay your bills :-)
Glad I watched this. I would not have thought about using a flexible extension without your video. Ordered one and it made this job a little easier. Still a pain but not as bad as it would have been. Thanks Angel. Suscribed.
I think you were overthinking this one, Angel. When I did mine, I unbolted the glove box door. I didn't remove the bottom panel. Your biggest fight will be that thick cable of wires right in the way of the actuator. And, no, you don't need power tools for this one. The actuator is plastic, so it's not torqued down too tight. Use a drive ratchet adapter (Google it), attach a 5.5 mm socket and reach in there. Yes, it takes a little hand strength and smaller hands help, but not all of us have hundred dollar tools available to us. I had to start doing my own work, since GM dealership service department in town went into the toilet. I had them do two of them and the bill was over $500. $40 and one afternoon later, I was good to go. (And for the really cheap among us, sometimes, if the actuator is not making noise, meaning broken teeth, remove it, open it, clean the contacts and see if it works again.) Your video help tremendously. Thank you.
Great job man thanks so much you were the only one I could find that did the far right actuator. Let me tell you I am a hell of a lot bigger than you getting in there to get a socket on it took some bone breaking contortions.
I love you. If you could do a video (if you ever work on this problem) on replacing all the parking brake cables on this vehicle. Anyways, keep doing good work!
Hi, great video, but I did not see you calibrate the new unit - everywhere else I looked called for calibration. Did you have any issues after installation? Thanks
Hi Howdy, thanks for watching. From what I read in the repair manual. There was no calibration to do. Can you link me to a video or car forums that shows that. My friend car is working ok.
I’ve replaced actuator with two new ones. It’s still clicking. 2008 impala. It the one in the glove compartment the hard one to get out the one your working on in this video. The only thing I see different is the blend door isn’t moving it’s up. I can’t turn that knob you’re turning. Any suggestions! Help!
What's the difference between an air door actuator and blend door actuator for the Chevy impala? Or are they the same? They certainly look the same to me.
I work for a company with a fleet of 2006 to 2013 Impalas. I change a least one a week. Both actuators use the same part number. I don't recommend the Dorman brand part, your asking for a come back in a few months. Purchase a AC Delco part. I use a Lisle 5.5 mm Ford ignition module wrench to remove the two screws. The bottom cover and glove box do not have to be removed. The hardest part is clocking the new actuator to go over the shaft.
Sure wish u were in Indiana , my 2006 Impala does this at any time, all hours of day and prob at night too... no key in ignition, nothing ...iy just starts up randomly ...
I had to fix a blend door acuator on a 2001 Ford Explorer and hers was behind the glove box to. What a pain in the ass it was. Dude I need that flexible extension for the ratchet
Angel they sell those gears in various sizes we used to have them in stock at my old job we used them to fix voucher printers you can find them on eBay in assortments just type in plastic gears always good to have you can replace those gears for pennies on the dollar my friend
Fix it angel. I just came upon a C5 chevy corvette and has a clicking noise by the top of the dash. Sounds like a blinker is on. But not the case. What could it be? The temperature valve actuator?
I have my ac blower motor replaced brand new OEM on my Chevy Cobalt (diy) everything works properly but the air coming out from the vent is weak, can you give me an advice. But I don’t have the same problem as for this video. Thank you! Stay safe
These are a common failure. They actually released an update to the hvac module so they self calibrated more often to reduce this type of failure. These w body gm cars are the best.
I have to change out the same exact actuator on my 2011 Impala. With my gorilla paws, I just barely got those stupid screws out of there (why the hell did Chevy put the wiring harness right in the damn way), and I got the old actuator out. The mistake I made was that (according to the instructions from Dorman) I'm not suppose to put power to the new actuator because it comes clocked exactly the way you need it to hook it back up. Well, I didn't read them first (my mistake) and I decided to hook the new one up to the wire just to see if maybe the wire was bad. When I did that, it moved the spindle, so now its not clocked correctly. Do you know how I could fix that, or should I try and see if I can exchange for a new one from O'Reilly's? I could pop the top off and do it, but I'm afraid it will break something or I won't get it clocked exactly correct. Also, another question, when I was messing with my fresh air actuator buttons, I tried to turn on my AC but, all my AC is doing is flashing a light at me and won't switch over. During the summer, my AC was working, is it not now or is it something to do with a temperature sensor keeping it from turning on (it winter right now as I'm writing this)? Thanks
I have a 2014 Chevrolet impala Lt Limited and I have replaced the same door actuator on the flap three times and it is still making the loud clicking noise.......any suggestions you might have on that?
@@FixItAngel two out of three are working fine but the third one behind the glove box on the far right where the vent is keep clicking that the one I replaced three times.
Your knowledge of repairing cars and sharing it on you tube is reward enough.
Thank you! The flex drill extension is the way to go. I followed all your tips and they worked great. I had my daughter help, a lot easier for small hands/arms to reach in there!

Been looking all over for this - I have a Cadillac sts that's having the same problem
Fix it angel. I just came upon a C5 chevy corvette and has a clicking noise by the top of the dash. Sounds like a blinker is on. But not the case. What could it be? The temperature valve actuator?
hi. it's either the air temperature actuator or the air door actuator either for the driver side or passenger side.
Where are you located I need mine repaired...ASAP...2013 CHEVY MALIBU
I bought one and replaced it a few minutes ago and realized BOTH are making noises. Are both Identical Part Numbers?

Jeff hi Jeff, problem could be air door not fully open
What's the price to get this done in a Chevy Impala
wish you all the best
I have a 2012 that does that. Going to buy the part and fix it myself.
Can you teach me how to change lower control arms on a 2009 Chevy Impala LS ?

These are a common failure. They actually released an update to the hvac module so they self calibrated more often to reduce this type of failure. These w body gm cars are the best.

Will leaving this problem alone make the battery die ? This started happening and I left it. Now my battery is dead
Awesome video👍
Nice work man!
You are GREAT MAN!
I have a 2014 Chevrolet impala Lt Limited and I have replaced the same door actuator on the flap three times and it is still making the loud clicking noise.......any suggestions you might have on that?
Carlos Washington three times??!! Must be all the actuators you used is bad. Doesn’t the parts you bought have a warranty?
@@FixItAngel two out of three are working fine but the third one behind the glove box on the far right where the vent is keep clicking that the one I replaced three times.
Carlos Washington could be the door flapper in the vent may be binding to something or grease needs to be put on where the door pivots
i love this channel..smart man
Very good video!
